16-year-old charged in fatal weekend crash in Houston
The Brief A 16-year-old has been charged for his alleged involvement in a fatal crash on Saturday, police say. The identity of the suspect will not be released. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing. HOUSTON - A juvenile has been charged in connection with a single-vehicle fatal crash in Houston on Saturday night, police said Monday. According to a release from the Houston Police Department, the 16-year-old suspect was charged in the West Fuqua Street crash after being released from the hospital. The backstory On Saturday, police said three teens were in a vehicle that hit a tree in the 3800 block of W. Fuqua around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. Two of the teens fled on foot, the release said, and one 14-year-old remained trapped in the back of the vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. The other two teens returned shortly after fleeing. What we know The 16-year-old driver of the vehicle, a gray Buick Enclave, was taken to a nearby hospital after returning to the scene to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. After being released from care, the suspect was taken into custody and charged with failure to stop and render aid. What we don't know Due to the driver being a juvenile, his name and booking photos will not be released, police said. The identity of the victim of the crash has not yet been verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Monday's release does not reference pending charges for the 14-year-old passenger who fled and returned alongside the driver. The cause of the crash has not been determined, Monday's release says. Harris County man shoots, kills stepbrother visiting mother, deputies say
The Brief A Harris County man is accused of shooting his much younger stepbrother who was visiting their mother on Saturday night, deputies say. The victim, 32-year-old Eduardo Alfaro Jr., died at the scene, according to investigators. The suspect, Charles Storey, 50, was inside the home when police arrived and was taken into custody. HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Harris County deputies are investigating a deadly shooting that happened in the 700 block of North Vista Drive on Saturday evening. The Latest Deputies say they were called around 7:30 p.m. for a request for service. When they arrived, they found 32-year-old Eduardo Alfaro Jr. with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene. While inside, deputies heard movement and found the suspect still inside the home. Investigators say Alfaro went to his mother's home to take her out for Mother's Day. He found his step-brother, 50-year-old Charles Storey, at the home. Investigators say he was possibly in a drinking binge. The brothers got into an argument and deputies say that is when Storey allegedly shot and killed his brother. He was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. He is facing a charge of murder. 2 killed in Northwest Houston rollover, causes major power outage
The Brief Two people were killed in a crash in Northwest Houston early Sunday morning. It happened on Hwy. 6 near Pine Forest Lane. The crash also caused a power outage from Patterson to the Pine Forest area. HOUSTON - Houston Police are investigating a crash that killed two people and left a large area of Northwest Houston without power early Sunday morning. What we know Houston Police say just before 2:30 a.m. a Toyota RAV4 was going southbound on Hwy. 6 near Pine Forest Lane at a high rate of speed when it left the road and crashed into a utility pole. The vehicle flipped multiple times, hitting trees and landing upside down. A female in the vehicle was ejected and died at the scene. A male had to be extracted from the vehicle and also died at the scene. The crash is being investigated. What we don't know It is not known if the male or the female was driving. Their identities have not been released. What we know The crash into the utility pole caused a power outage from Patterson to the Pine Forest area. At 10:57 a.m., CenterPoint Energy is reporting power to be restored to around 150 customers around 3:30 p.m. A crew is working on the outage.
