Curry quarrel: Police reunite couple at ‘war'

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The incident unfolded when officers spotted Pratibha wandering aimlessly with her baby girl near Mhalgi Nagar at night. The cops, who were engaged in rescuing roadside wanderers under 'Operation Mukti', decided to intervene and take her to the police station. Pratibha, originally from Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, struggled to provide details about her Nagpur residence, posing a challenge for the officers. Under the leadership of senior inspector Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar of Hudkeshwar Police Station, the team drove her through various localities, determined to locate her home. Upon reaching Pipla Phata, Pratibha could recall the road towards her makeshift labour camp where she stayed with her husband. The cops went inside the house and were shocked to find a suicide note penned by her husband, Rohit, who was also untraceable. Rohit, a construction labourer, migrated to Nagpur a few months earlier. He summoned Pratibha a few days ago, and they stayed in a makeshift labour camp at Pipla Phata. The couple's argument erupted when Rohit disapproved of the curry Pratibha prepared. Enraged, both left their home on separate paths, with Pratibha wandering aimlessly and Rohit contemplating a tragic step. Rohit left home after borrowing a neighbour's cellphone. He requested the neighbour to alert him if Pratibha returned while contemplating ending his life by suicide. The cops called Rohit on the cellphone and summoned him back. Senior PI Bhedodkar and his team's timely efforts not only averted a tragedy but also restored harmony between the couple. "We had to counsel the couple and urged them to stay together happily for the sake of the child," said Bhedodkar. The couple, now reunited, expressed gratitude to the police for their sensitivity and commitment, proving that even small disputes can be resolved with care and understanding.

6 mentally distressed persons rescued, rehabilitated under ‘Operation Mukti'

Nagpur: In a commendable effort under the Nagpur city police's flagship initiative 'Operation Mukti', six mentally distressed individuals, including women and a minor girl, were rescued and shifted to govt hospitals and shelter facilities across the city. The operations, conducted in collaboration with NGOs, reflect the police's commitment to rehabilitating vulnerable individuals, with over 100 persons already reintegrated into society under the programme led by commissioner of police Ravinder Singal. In the New Kamptee police station jurisdiction, two women, Geeta Santosh Jadhav (45) and Pushpa Gulkande (60), found in a disoriented state at Lihigaon, were admitted to the MNP Urban Homeless Shelter on Temple Bazaar Road, Sitabuldi, with assistance from police staff. Similarly, another woman, Shobha Ramkumar Agrawal, found near the bus stand in a distressed condition, was medically examined and shifted to a homeless shelter. In Wathoda police limits, an unidentified elderly woman, found disoriented near Baba Taj Masjid on Bahadur Road, received primary treatment at Medical Hospital, Nagpur, before being admitted to the Aadhar Urban Homeless Shelter at Butique Kanya School, Temple Bazaar Road, facilitated by constables Nutan and Santosh. Meanwhile, a complaint received via Child Helpline 1098 about a minor girl begging near Maharajbagh in the Sitabuldi police station area prompted swift action. The Child Protection Unit, with Sitabuldi police support, rescued the girl and initiated her rehabilitation at a children's home. The urgency of such interventions is underscored by recent tragedies, with two homeless individuals murdered and around 10 succumbing to heatwave, hunger, and other causes in the last month. Nagpur police and NGOs continue their relentless efforts to provide care and dignity to the city's most vulnerable.

Footpath to life of dignity: Cops' Op Mukti rehabilitates homeless

1 2 3 Nagpur: A woman and her son, who were rooted in affluence, were later forced to make the footpath their home in Dhantoli till police and NGOs moved them to hospital. Following a family dispute, the mother-son duo lost their right to reside at their home. Rescued under 'Operation Mukti' last month, the woman later died in hospital, while her son was later shifted to a shelter home, where he is currently being rehabilitated. In another case, a mentally deranged teen was rescued by Sitabuldi police this week under 'Operation Mukti' from Shankar Nagar Chowk. She was unable to reveal her identity or address. Police produced her before the Child Welfare Committee, where she was medically examined and shifted to a govt shelter home. Police commissioner Ravinder Singal, spearheading 'Operation Mukti', now aims to make Nagpur free of beggars on the lines of Indore, but with a three 'R' approach revolving around rescue, rehabilitation, and reunion with family. "Nagpur police's mission is not to detain and displace, but to rehabilitate and offer shelter, food, and clothing with help of govt agencies, civic administration, and NGOs. The objective is not only to make Nagpur cleaner, but also to touch lives. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like เทรด Bitcoin และ Ethereum - ไม่ต้องใช้กระเป๋าเงิน! "We have already identified around 1,300 persons, who need to be rescued through relentless efforts," he said. Apart from the struggle for food and drinking water, Singal also pointed out the murder of two street-dwellers in the city had raised a concern. "Apart from crime, deaths on the roads due to rising temperatures are also pitiable. Our city police want to avoid such negligent deaths with society refraining from reacting," he said, adding efforts of social worker Surbhi Shirpurkar, NGOs, and other govt agencies have gone a long way in save lives. Shirpurkar, apart from conceptualising the mission, also took the lead to rescue the underprivileged even at odd hours. Singal also facilitated several senior inspectors like Kavita Isarkar, Nitin Rajkumar, Shubhangi Deshmukh, Gokul Mahajan, and other personnel, govt officials, and NGOs for their contribution to the mission so far. Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy stated that institutional recognition offered to the mission and its stakeholders has helped take the mission forward. The mission may have followed another city, but the approach is far more holistic here and should be termed as the 'Nagpur pattern', he said. Additional CP Vasant Pardeshi also stressed taking care of the elderly at home. "Rescued persons must also be exposed to some skill-based work," he said. Another Additional CP, Shivaji Rathod, also extended his insights. District Child Protection Officer Mushtak Pathan highlighted the constitutional rights of the destitute and facilities the govt has created for them. Devendra Kshirsagar, director of NMC Aastha Beggars Rehabilitation, stated that the rescued destitute are being rendered medical, psychiatric, counselling, and other support as per their physical and mental health conditions.
