This residency represents the evolution of our careers and the responsibility we carry to represent African dance music on the world stage. We're passionate about using our platform to shine a light on the brilliant music makers and talent in South Africa, sharing the richness of our culture with new audiences globally. We can't wait to take listeners on a journey that's vibrant, forward-thinking, and true to who we are.' Bou Bou says: 'What an honour it is to have my own show on BBC Radio 1! It truly feels like we've been on this journey together — from my very first interview with Jeremiah Asiamah back in 2019, to my Essential Mix in 2023, and all the incredible support Radio 1 has shown my music along the way. Now, I get to present my own show… and trust me, it's going to be madness!' KETTAMA (September) KETTAMA says: 'Over the moon to be joining the BBC Radio 1 Residency. I'll be playing through all sorts of new bits, old bits and whatever hits. Turn up the bass in the M3. Bosh.' Oppidan (October) Oppidan says: 'I'm absolutely buzzing to be joining the Radio 1 Residency! SG Lewis (August) SG Lewis says: 'I grew up listening to Radio 1's late night programming, and DJ's like Pete Tong & Annie Mac were hugely formative in my discovery of electronic music as a teenager. To get to take the reins on the Radio 1 airwaves for four shows is a massive privilege. I'm super excited to use the time to showcase a bunch of new music from friends, share my taste and generally have a laugh on air.' Taylah Elaine (November) Taylah Elaine says: 'From mini mixes and guest slots to being named one of Radio 1's Future Stars of 2025 — it's an honour to now take over the BBC Radio 1 Residency. I'm so excited to share the music I love from all over the world with the listeners of such an iconic station. Expect global sounds from past and present, plus some exclusive, unreleased gems from my crates.' EC2 Follow for more

Glastonbury Festival fans say one stage will be 'packed' due to 'insane' line-up

Glastonbury Festival attendees have been raving about one of the stages at the iconic event, with some warning it will be 'packed' due to an 'insane' line-up advertised This year's Glastonbury Festival line-up suggests some stages will be totally crammed – as people are raving about the "insane" line-up at Worthy Farm. A post on the r/GlastonburyFestival Reddit page sent fans into a frenzy of anticipation for the promised acts. Artists like Cheetah, Oppidan, and Baby J are set to hit the stage, yet Reddit users speculated that the Temple stage will scarcely contain the masses for one highly anticipated act. A Reddit user expressed their excitement, writing: "Bullet Tooth B2B Silva Bumpa will be unbelievable, very busy but unbelievable." ‌ Another fan added: "Need to commit early and stay in there otherwise there's no chance... got stiffed last year for DJ EZ, got nowhere near getting in." ‌ And a third was thrilled by the line-up, writing: "Line-up is too good. will be impossible to get into as per." Forecasting a huge turnout, some also predict the 'Barry Can't Swim Presents...' set to be swarmed by attendees. An individual posited: "Barry will be mental packed. Really not sure if is clever to put him on Temple. I remember the chaos of Fred again here back in 23. Personally not a good arena choice for crowd." Another agreed, writing: "He was rammed on Park Stage last year, Temple will be nuts." ‌ However, a Redditor offered a counterpoint, suggesting the crowd might just manage, drawing parallels to Fred Again's performance the previous year. They commented: "It won't be anywhere near as bad as Fred or Virji B2B EZ last year. It's a takeover with people from his label as well so it will last a while (6 hours?!?) so more time for people to go in and out. If it was just a 1hr Barry set on his own then yeah it would be rammed and dangerous." Others believe it will be packed regardless of who playing the stage – as Barry Can't Swim is such a huge name. ‌ One person remarked: "It will be because it has the name 'Barry Can't Swim', and people read 'Barry Can't Swim'." While another highlighted: "Well, the labelling is there: Barry Can't Swim (presents). You and I are avid careful readers, but normal people do not even know what a label showcase is." Who is headlining Glastonbury 2025? Later this year, 210,000 music lovers will head to Worthy Farm in Somerset for five days, taking in all of the music as well as everything the festival site has to offer. This year, bosses have confirmed that Glastonbury will run from June 25 to June 29. This year, tickets for Glastonbury sold out in just 35 minutes, despite nobody knowing who was performing. This year, The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo will headline. Meanwhile, Sir Rod Stewart will play the legends slot, and was the first name to be announced as part of the huge line-up.

Developer plans new $31 million data center in Temple. Here's what you need to know.

A new data center is in the works directly across from Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta Platforms Inc.'s data center campus in Temple. Oppidan Investment Co., a Minnesota-based developer, will break ground on a $31 million data center project at 2325 Eberhardt Road. The data center will be five-megawatts and 62,000 square feet, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. According to property records, Oppidan bought 10 acres from the Temple Economic Development Corporation in March. The development will be across from Meta's hyperscale data center campus, which is currently under construction. The $800 million development spans 393 acres at the intersection of Eberhardt Road and Industrial Boulevard, and the facility will be about 900,000 square feet. Meta initially broke ground on its campus in 2022 but construction was paused when the billion-dollar tech company decided to change the design of the complex. Kansas City-based contractor JE Dunn resumed construction on the project in October 2023. According to Meta, the campus will support about 100 operational jobs once completed. Meta has said construction will continue through 2026. Data centers have cropped up throughout Texas, but especially near Austin in recent years. According to commercial real estate firm CBRE, the Austin-San Antonio area is among the fastest-growing data center markets in the country. The Dallas-Fort Worth metro is the second largest data center market in the U.S., following only Northern Virginia. Oppidan has another Texas data center project in El Paso. The development firm filed for a $27.1 million, five-megawatt data center project at at 9879 North Loop Drive in El Paso County in September; that data center is planned to be about 61,555 square feet.
