The Calgary Surge withstood a furious charge by the Brampton Honey Bears Thursday to pull out a 94-85 victory. After a 22-point lead had shrunk to just six in Target Time, the Surge got baskets from Evan Gilyard Jr., Sean Miller-Moore and Greg Brown III to help stave off the hard-charging Honey Bears. The terrific trio combined on the night for 60 points. A bit nervy in Target Time but @CalgarySurge beat Brampton 94-85 to get to 9-and-4. CGY up 16 after Q1. D fuels team, 9 blocks and 12 steals. Gilyard had 25 points, four assists and three steals to lead the Surge in his CEBL debut. Brown added 19 points, 10 assists and three blocks, while Miller-Moore had 16 points, six rebounds and two blocks to help make up for the absence of their second-leading scorer Jameer Nelson Jr., who has been added to the summer league roster of the San Antonio Spurs along with Surge teammate Osayi Osifo. The Honey Badgers dropped to 4-9 on the season, leaving them in last place in the east. Next up for the Surge is a Sunday matchup against the Stingers in Edmonton.
