Surge survive late comeback effort by Brantford in 94-85 win over Honey Bears
After a 22-point lead had shrunk to just six in Target Time, the Surge got baskets from Evan Gilyard Jr., Sean Miller-Moore and Greg Brown III to help stave off the hard-charging Honey Bears.
The terrific trio combined on the night for 60 points.

The winning shot came on a three-point shot by Brown from the corner. it was the tenth triple of the night for Calgary, which improved to 9-4 on the season, leaving them a game behind the division-leading Vancouver Bandits in the west.
Gilyard had 25 points, four assists and three steals to lead the Surge in his CEBL debut. Brown added 19 points, 10 assists and three blocks, while Miller-Moore had 16 points, six rebounds and two blocks to help make up for the absence of their second-leading scorer Jameer Nelson Jr., who has been added to the summer league roster of the San Antonio Spurs along with Surge teammate Osayi Osifo.

Marcus Carr led Brampton with 20 points, six rebounds and seven assists. The Honey Badgers dropped to 4-9 on the season, leaving them in last place in the east.
Next up for the Surge is a Sunday matchup against the Stingers in Edmonton.
The Surge announced Friday afternoon that Karim Mane has joined the Senegalese national team.

Article content No one expressed any worry when word spread prior to Friday night's first pitch against the visiting Los Angeles Angels. Article content Article content As it turned out, both the Jays and Angels put their best foot forward on a night dripping with drama and late-game suspense. Article content Not much separated the teams through nine innings, each scoring three runs on five hits, each committing one error. Article content The one difference involved L.A. leaving six runners on base compared to two by the Jays. Article content In extra innings, the Angels failed to score in the 10th inning. Article content Vlad Jr. was on deck in the home half, but his bat wasn't required because the Jays would win, 4-3, on a throwing error. Article content A walk-off error to maintain a grip on first in the AL East wasn't something anyone could have envisioned, but the Jays will take a win any way they can get it. Article content A revamped Jays lineup did feature the return of Bo Bichette, who hurt his knee during the warmups prior to the series opener against the Yankees. Article content He never started in any of the four games, but he did enter the series finale as a pinch-hitter. TORONTO — Bo Levi Mitchell threw five touchdown passes to lead the Hamilton Tiger-Cats past the Toronto Argonauts 51-38 on Friday night. Article content Mitchell cemented the win with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Kiondre Smith at 4:29 of the fourth quarter that put Hamilton ahead 44-26. It came after Toronto had pulled to within 37-26. Article content Article content Mitchell completed 19-of-24 passes for 332 yards with no interceptions and became the 11th player in CFL history to crack the 40,000-yard plateau. Blue Jays win again, beating Angels 4-3 in 10th inning
A throwing error that travelled down the first-base line from Los Angeles Angels reliever Sam Bachman on an Ernie Clement bunt gave the Toronto Blue Jays a 4-3 walk-off win on Friday. With runners on first and second and none out, Clement bunted to the third-base side of the mound in the 10th inning scoring Myles Straw. Bachman threw high and the Blue Jays had their season-high sixth win in a row before 30,119 at Rogers Centre. Bachman (1-2) took the loss, while Chad Green (3-0) pitched the top of the 10th and registered the win. Blue Jays' slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. named American League all-star starter The Blue Jays sent seven players to the plate in a three-run sixth. Will Wagner scored on Andres Gimenez's single to left and the latter scored on Bo Bichette's single to left. George Springer scored on Zach Neto's error. Toronto starter Eric Lauer lost his magic in the seventh when Mike Trout and Taylor Ward singled to end his evening. Reliever Nick Sandlin was greeted with a 431-foot homer from Jo Adell to left centre for his 19th. In Lauer's six-plus innings, he was on the hook for two runs on three hits and a walk with six strikeouts. Lauer and his Los Angeles counterpart Kyle Hendricks were engaged in a pitchers' duel through five innings. Springer, who remained hot with a 2-for-4 game, broke through for Toronto's first hit, a one-out line-drive single to left field in the fourth inning. Adell led off the fifth inning for the Angels with a double into the left-field corner. Hendricks departed after 5 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on four hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
