Outlander Blood of my Blood fans already have favourite couple as they praise 'phenomenal' scenes
Outlander fans have been thrilled at the new hit show, which follows the tale of both Claire and Jamie Fraser's parents in a riveting new time-travelling series. Outlander Blood of My Blood has been the hot topic across the globe, as the spin-off show finally aired to UK audiences over the weekend. Hitting screens on August 8, fans of the original Outlander franchise had a whole new world to get stuck into. Despite only two episodes being released so far, many have already set their sights on their favourites. The spin-off show will unravel the tale of both Outlander 's main stars, Jamie and Claire Fraser's parents. Taking to discussion platform Reddit, one fan wrote: "OBSESSED with Ellen and Brian and loving the Julia/Henry backstory of this episode so far. The falling in love through letter writing was so cute. The depiction of Henry's shell shock, and how she anchors kiss". "I'm liking the Julia and Henry storyline way more than I thought!," quipped another fan as a third chimed: "I wasn't expecting to love Henry and Julia this much - but dang I do! I see both of them in her." A fourth added: "I'm surprisingly more invested in Henry and Julia at this point. That could change. Lord Lovat is deliciously vile. He is so slimy. I can see he's a character I'm going to love to hate." "I agree with a lot of people. Im actually more invested in Julia and Henry," wrote another fan. Someone else agreed, noting the reason why they might be leaning towards the couple, as they said:" I'm definitely more invested in Henry and Julia than I am Brian and Ellen (maybe because we're more familiar with that story?)." Another fan said: "They're really laying the Claire-Julia parallels on thick. So far, Henry and Julia have a much more compelling story than Brian and Ellen to me. Can't wait to see what's next!" Elsewhere, fans also praised the "phenomenal" camera work in the spin-off series as they buzzed about the World War I scenes. "No one is talking about how good that WWI stuff was," one fan noted. They continued: "I was pretty amazed but how gross and gritty and real it all felt, especially since the later seasons of Outlander seemed to lose some of that." Fans were quick to chime in, adding: "Totally agree! The WWI scenes looked as good as any WWI or WWII movie I've seen in a theatre. I think Culloden was the last time I've felt that way on Outlander. All of the battle scenes after that have seemed almost amateurish in comparison." A third said: "OMG yes!! The cinematography was phenomenal. A friend of mine went to a screening and saw it on the big screen. She said it blew everyone away. It was like watching a big budget film rather than a television show." "Also those war scenes were done brilliantly. They def spent a lot on production for this show," added another fan. Inside Jeremy Irvine's life from hitting ‘rock bottom' to Outlander prequel ‘faff'
Outlander Blood of My Blood is dropping this week, taking fans across two love stories across two timelines. Jeremy Irvine is set to star in the hotly anticipated Outlander prequel Blood of My Blood with fans curious to know all there is about the man behind Claire Fraser's dad. Outlander Blood of My Blood will delve into a new chapter in author Diana Gabaldon 's world, exploring how Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser's (Caitriona Balfe) met and fell in love. Actor Jeremy Irvine is behind Claire's dad Henry Beauchamp who resides during the First World War where he meets his future wife Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield). However, the pair are accidentally separated when Julia goes through the mystical stones and winds up in the 18th Century as Henry tries everything he can to find her. As Blood of My Blood makes its way to MGM+, here's everything there is to know about actor Jeremy Irvine. Rock bottom Irvine shot to fame in 2011 when he landed the leading role of Albert Narracott in Steven Spielberg's War Horse. The movie came at just the right time as the 35-year-old had started giving up on the idea of becoming an actor. He told "I trained briefly as an actor, then had a year and a half of being rejected. 'Not getting a job. Just walking the streets of London to try to get an agent and stuff like that. 'And I can certainly understand how it becomes an obsession. Starts kind of taking over a bit. "I'd kind of hit rock bottom and really did think this was stupid and I just wasted three or four years of my life. "My dad wanted me to get a job being a welder. At the company he was at, he was an engineer. I was very very close to doing that." Mamma Mia Over the next four years, featured in a plethora of films including Now Is Good, Great Expectations, The Railway Man and The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death. But it was in 2018 that he landed the part of Sam in the musical prequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, with Irvine portraying the younger version of Pierce Brosnan's character. Speaking to Big Issue about working with the James Bond star, he shared: 'Pierce was incredibly generous with his time. He really made me feel welcome. 'We had tea in his dressing room the first day we were in together, we hung out and there were lots of dinners in the evenings. 'It must be difficult for Pierce – because he knows that for guys of my generation he is James Bond. 'But he doesn't ignore that, he is very self-effacing, tackles it head on and makes you feel so welcome. There is a lot to be learnt from him.' Love life The Outlander star married his long-term girlfriend midwife Jodie Spencer in 2024, with reports that they initially started dating back in 2016. He was also shooting the upcoming prequel around the same time that he got married, posting on Instagram a mixture of pictures from their big day as well as on set. Irvine wrote: 'Finally home after eight months of filming - fun - and a wedding, marrying my best friend.' Prior to meeting his now-wife, the actor was in a relationship with singer Ellie Goulding in 2012. She later cited the pressures of a long distance romance as the reason for their split. Filming Outlander prequel Fans of the original Outlander drama are thrilled to see the universe expanding with this romantic prequel focussing on Jamie and Claire's parents. However, it wasn't always the most comfortable of experiences when shooting, Irvine revealed to Y! Entertainment. He remarked: "When I'm filming scenes in the 1700s, getting dressed is an absolute faff! 'You can't dress yourself. Someone has to come in and help you. 'It feels quite degrading because you're in your underwear, first thing in the morning, being wrapped up in a kilt, like a baby being swaddled. It's a very different vibe!" Next project Despite Blood of My Blood debuting this week, Irvine is already busy working on a film, this time, a romantic comedy. Entitled Leopardi & Co, the official description reads: "A US actor lands the part of famous Italian poet Leopardi. 'To prepare, his agent hires a young Italian woman to educate him, sparking an unexpected romantic connection.' Irvine 's leading lady will be Italian actress Denise Tantucci but fans will also be delighted to see that he will also share the screen with the legendary Whoopi Goldberg. Having starred in Sister Act, Ghost and The Colour Purple just to name a few, she will portray a character called Mildred in the romcom which is now in post-production.
