Outlander Blood of my Blood fans already have favourite couple as they praise 'phenomenal' scenes

Daily Recorda day ago
Outlander fans have been thrilled at the new hit show, which follows the tale of both Claire and Jamie Fraser's parents in a riveting new time-travelling series.
Outlander Blood of My Blood has been the hot topic across the globe, as the spin-off show finally aired to UK audiences over the weekend. Hitting screens on August 8, fans of the original Outlander franchise had a whole new world to get stuck into.

Despite only two episodes being released so far, many have already set their sights on their favourites. The spin-off show will unravel the tale of both Outlander 's main stars, Jamie and Claire Fraser's parents.

Taking to discussion platform Reddit, one fan wrote: "OBSESSED with Ellen and Brian and loving the Julia/Henry backstory of this episode so far. The falling in love through letter writing was so cute. The depiction of Henry's shell shock, and how she anchors him...chef's kiss".

"I'm liking the Julia and Henry storyline way more than I thought!," quipped another fan as a third chimed: "I wasn't expecting to love Henry and Julia this much - but dang I do! I see both of them in her."
A fourth added: "I'm surprisingly more invested in Henry and Julia at this point. That could change. Lord Lovat is deliciously vile. He is so slimy. I can see he's a character I'm going to love to hate."

"I agree with a lot of people. Im actually more invested in Julia and Henry," wrote another fan. Someone else agreed, noting the reason why they might be leaning towards the couple, as they said:" I'm definitely more invested in Henry and Julia than I am Brian and Ellen (maybe because we're more familiar with that story?)."
Another fan said: "They're really laying the Claire-Julia parallels on thick. So far, Henry and Julia have a much more compelling story than Brian and Ellen to me. Can't wait to see what's next!"

Elsewhere, fans also praised the "phenomenal" camera work in the spin-off series as they buzzed about the World War I scenes. "No one is talking about how good that WWI stuff was," one fan noted.
They continued: "I was pretty amazed but how gross and gritty and real it all felt, especially since the later seasons of Outlander seemed to lose some of that."

Fans were quick to chime in, adding: "Totally agree! The WWI scenes looked as good as any WWI or WWII movie I've seen in a theatre. I think Culloden was the last time I've felt that way on Outlander. All of the battle scenes after that have seemed almost amateurish in comparison."
A third said: "OMG yes!! The cinematography was phenomenal. A friend of mine went to a screening and saw it on the big screen. She said it blew everyone away. It was like watching a big budget film rather than a television show."
"Also those war scenes were done brilliantly. They def spent a lot on production for this show," added another fan.

The series will follow two new love stories, one which starts on the battlefields of the Western Front during World War I and the other in the meadows of Scotland in the early 18th century.
Since its debut more than a decade ago, Outlander itself has amassed a global fanbase. The historical romance series, centring round Claire Randall/Fraser (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), saw their love affair quickly capture hearts.
However with the show nearing its end with the eighth and final season set for 2026, the phenomenon is expanding in the form of a spin-off to Diana Gabaldon's treasured franchise.

First look at Jamie Lee Curtis' new movie has fans saying 'we need more films like this'

The first trailer for Ella McCay has dropped and fans are already obsessed with the film that also features Kumail Nanjiani, Ayo Edebiri, Woody Harrelson, Rebecca Hall and Julie Kavner. The first trailer for Ella McCay, a fresh comedy drama featuring Jamie Lee Curtis, has just landed and viewers are already captivated, with one declaring that "we need more movies like this". ‌ Set in 2008, the film centres on Ella (Emma Mackey), a successful young politician juggling the peaks and valleys of her chaotic family dynamics alongside her blossoming career. ‌ Packed with A-list talent, Jamie and Emma are joined by an impressive ensemble including Kumail Nanjiani, Ayo Edebiri, Woody Harrelson, Rebecca Hall and Julie Kavner. ‌ Fans were quick to voice their excitement online. One Reddit user posted: "It's nice to see a family drama airing in theaters. Don't see that much anymore," reports the Express. Another remarked: "I miss seeing in trailers when it runs through all of the actors and they're all laughing." ‌ A third chimed in: "This looks like the perfect movie to walk into without much planning ahead on a random date. I like the cast." Another viewer noted: "Haven't really seen Emma Mackey outside of Sex Education (besides her small role in Barbie) but really liked her in that show, so I'm interested in seeing her playing a different type of character." One enthusiast declared: "Yes. Always lovely when a trailer actually makes you laugh." Meanwhile another added: "We need more movies like this." ‌ The picture, scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 12, comes from the direction of James L Brooks, the Oscar-winning writer and director behind As Good as It Gets (1997) and Spanglish (2004). James is set to make a grand return to the director's chair with Ella McCay, his first film in over a decade since 2010's How Do You Know, featuring Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson and Jack Nicholson. ‌ In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he shared: "I came from a family that wasn't roses and warm bread, and so I wanted it to be about one errant parent and getting over the loss of a parent. I never want to do anything that's not a comedy, and I always want to represent life." He also revealed the lengthy audition process that led to Emma landing the lead role, saying, "I was in an audition process for a long time. "I went to London, and very late in the game, she turned up, and that was it. In my mind, I pictured the kind of heroines that we had in the '50s and '60s, early Katharine Hepburn and Rosalind Russell. There's a certain kind of great movie star we used to have, and Emma has a lot of those same qualities." Ella McCay is set to hit the big screen on 12 December.

He is due to perform at the Hydro in March next year as part of a UK tour. The Oasis concerts have been a landmark moment for fans, marking the first time Liam and Noel have performed together in Scotland since the band split in 2009. Figures show that the gigs will generate a total of £124m in spending within Edinburgh's economy. Police have hailed the weekend as a success. On Friday, there were three arrests for minor disorder, and on Saturday, there were no arrests. A major operation has been in place with officers deploying helicopters and drones to monitor the crowds and ensure public safety from the skies.
