Infrared imaging confirms thermal regulation benefits of Outlast tech
Outlast is pleased to share the results of a newly conducted infrared (IR) imaging test designed to evaluate the thermal performance of gloves made with and without Outlast Temperature Regulation. This test was performed under controlled environmental conditions and demonstrates the heat management advantage of incorporating Outlast. Outlast's IR imaging test shows gloves with Outlast Temperature Regulation maintain cooler external temps than those without. Using natural wax microcapsules, Outlast absorbs excess heat and releases it when needed, ensuring thermal balance and enhanced comfort. The test confirms its effectiveness in managing heat and reducing perspiration. Test Overview and Setup The comparative analysis used our standard red demo gloves made with the article 'Carlton'. The test compared two glove samples: Left glove: Fabric 'Carlton' with integrated Outlast Temperature Regulation Right glove: Fabric analogue 'Carlton' without Outlast A middle-aged male participant wore both gloves, and external surface temperatures were recorded using an infrared camera placed at a fixed distance of 1 meter. The ambient test environment was maintained at 22.1 ° C with 44 % relative humidity. Conclusion The results clearly demonstrate that gloves equipped with Outlast Temperature Regulation maintain lower external surface temperatures under identical conditions. This confirms the material's effective heat-buffering capacity, particularly in dynamic thermal environments, and supports the conclusion that Outlast temperature regulation enhances wearer comfort by mitigating perspiration. These findings provide further evidence of the value of incorporating advanced thermal management technologies in performance apparel and equipment. How does Outlast Temperature Regulation work? The heart of Outlast Temperature Regulation is natural wax. Safely enclosed in microcapsules, it can be easily applied to a textile or incorporated into yarns or fibers. When the human body produces excess heat, the natural wax starts to melt within the microcapsules. Thanks to this melting process, the natural wax is able to absorb and store heat. Thus, the textile buffers the heat and the human body does not warm up further. Instead, the user remains in his or her individual climatic balance and sweating can be reduced or sometimes even avoided. When physical activity decreases or the outside temperature drops, Outlast smart fabrics are able to release stored heat back to the human body. The natural wax solidifies and releases heat. Through this constant active temperature adjustment, Outlast keeps the user comfortable at all times. Outlast Unveils Smart Denim with Climate Control Tech
Denim just got smarter. Outlast Technologies GmbH has announced a game-changing innovation: denim that adapts to your body's temperature to enhance all-day comfort. Known for its rugged durability and style versatility, denim has long been a wardrobe staple. Now, thanks to Outlast's cutting-edge technology, it's also performance-ready. Developed after rigorous R&D, this smart denim embeds natural wax into the fiber structure before weaving. This allows the fabric to actively regulate temperature — absorbing excess heat when it's warm and releasing it as things cool down. The result is reduced sweating in heat and better warmth retention in cooler conditions, all while retaining the authentic look and feel of traditional denim. 'Denim is universally loved but not always season-friendly,' said Volker Schuster, R&D Director at Outlast. 'We've addressed that by engineering jeans that respond to your body's thermal changes — offering wearable comfort without compromise.' Key to this innovation was a collaboration with Pakistan-based denim expert AGI, which helped refine the process to withstand heavy washing and finishing treatments typical in denim production. Since the wax is embedded within the fiber rather than applied to the surface, the temperature control function remains intact for the garment's entire lifespan, unlike coatings that wash out over time. This development not only positions Outlast as a leader in performance textiles but also adds a layer of intelligent functionality to one of the fashion world's most iconic garments. Dr. Heavenly Kimes On How She Balances Profession With ‘Married To Medicine' & If She Would Join ‘The Traitors'
Dr. Heavenly Kimes is a woman of many talents. She practices dentistry at her own establishment and stars on Bravo's Married to Medicine. Kimes is one of the most recognizable personalities of the long-running reality series, wrapping Season 11 in the coming weeks. More from Deadline Survival Competition Series 'Outlast' Renewed For Season 3 At Netflix 'Real Housewives Of Potomac' Star Karen Huger Sentenced To 2 Years In Jail, With 1 Year Suspended, Following DUI Conviction 'Below Deck's Gary King, NBCUniversal & Bravo Hit With Sexual Battery, Retaliation & Hostile Work Environment Lawsuit 'We're definitely grateful and humbled that so many people are still interested in us and we have so much more to give,' Kimes told Deadline during an interview. 'But we're just humble that people want to see our lives because it is a little bit different for us. It is a little bit different than other reality TV shows.' About how she balances her dental practice and the gruesome schedule of filming a reality TV show, Kimes said, 'I think I'm probably the most balanced person on our show, because I do have a job. I do work in my profession, but I do it three days a week, so the other four days of the week, I'm either spending time it with my kids or doing something else.' 'Bravo and Purveyors of Pop have been very, very good about working around our schedules, so it just all flows together,' she added. 'But at the end of the day, it's about priorities.' Since Kimes is one of the most outspoken personalities on Married to Medicine and can call people out without problem, many have suggested she join Peacock's The Traitors, which she says would be game for. 'I've never watched the whole thing, but I've seen some clips and it seems like a very interesting dynamic where they're bringing people from different places and playing a game,' she told us. 'I like to play games. I think I'm very good at games. I'm very smart. Phaedra is smart too, but not quite as smart as I am.' She continued, 'Everybody keeps asking me about The Traitors. I don't know why. Even when I did my last thing at Bravo, they voted me most likely to win at Traitors. I never really thought about about it, but I'm down for any opportunity. I like to play games. If you want to start a campaign, let's do it.' One of the most wholesome aspects of Kimes on Married to Medicine is her scenes with her daughter Alaura Kimes. Earlier this year, Alaura shared a video on social media with her Bravoleb mother, receiving positive reactions from fans. 'I didn't realize how much we were alike until that video,' Kimes said. 'I was looking at it like, 'She does have mannerisms like me!' I use slang and Ebonics, but it's kind of become a habit, so I use words that she's actually picked up [from me]. And to me, it's hilarious, but we do have a great time together.' Alaura is one of the few people that is able to call Kimes out and not get flack on-screen, with the Married to Medicine star saying, 'She's like her mother. Yes, she is that way, and I appreciate that. I like straightforwardness. If somebody has a problem, I'd rather them say it. Let's talk about it however it comes out, and let's move forward. I just don't like people to get stuck, like some of [my cast members] are stuck. We have to learn to move forward.' As far as her future on Married to Medicine, Kimes said, 'I can see some more seasons. As long as they want me, imma be there.' 'I think it's a great opportunity. I think I have so much more to give,' she added. 'My daughter's at a different peak in her life. We got some more seasons in us. I feel good, I look great. As an empty nester and my daughter moving back to Atlanta, I'm just excited about life right now.' Menendez Politics: Family Praises Gavin Newsom Ordering Parole Board Probe As L.A. DA Punts New Trial & Big Hearing Looms
A month before a potentially pivotal resentencing hearing for the Menendez brothers and as the LA County Distract Attorney rejects a new trial for the siblings, Gov. Gavin Newsom has ordered a risk assessment probe for Erik Menendez and Lyle Menendez as a clemency petition sits on his desk. 'The question for the board is a rather simple one, do Eric and Lyle Menendez, do they pose a current, what we call unreasonable risk to public safety?' the governor said earlier Wednesday of the now quinquagenarian siblings who were sentenced in 1996 to life without parole for the 1989 shotgun murder of their parents at their Beverly Hills home. 'The risk assessment will be conducted as they typically are conducted by experts in public safety as well as forensic psychologists.' More from Deadline True-Crime Makes A Strong Case In Netflix Data Dump; 'The Menendez Brothers' Leads List 'Squid Game' Season 2 Led Netflix Series In Second Half Of 2024 With Just 6 Days Of Viewing; Latest Data Dump Reveals Breadth Of Subscriber Taste Survival Competition Series 'Outlast' Renewed For Season 3 At Netflix 'There's no guarantee of outcome here,' Newsom cautioned of the decades long high-profile case of that has seen the brothers behind bars for nearly 30 years. 'My office conducts dozens and dozens of these clemency reviews on a consistent basis. But this process simply provides more transparency, which I think is important in this case, as well as provides us more due diligence before I make any determination for clemency.' Coming as California's term limited governor unveiled a new podcast project and hours before Newsom announces, 'a major statewide economic initiative' on LA's recovery for the devastating wildfires of earlier this year, the parole board order also follows the declaration last week from LA County DA Nathan Hochman coming out strongly against a new trial from the brothers. With a planned press conference for today by members of the Menendez family suddenly postponed late Tuesda until Thursday, lawyers for the family were full of praise Wednesday for the Governor after weeks of apparent friction with the new-ish DA. ' Along with scores of Jose and Kitty Menendez's family members who have fought for years to see Erik and Lyle have a chance to finally come home, we are grateful for the Governor's decision,' attorneys Mark Geragos and Cliff Gardner said Wednesday. 'The family realizes that the Governor's action does not mean he will commute the sentences. A petition for clemency from the Menendez family for the brothers landed was submitted to Newsom last fall, before the DA election that saw law-and-order candidate Hochman wiped out incumbent and overnight Menendez advocate George Gascón. Under the Golden State's constitution, as Hochman noted again and again in his presser of February 21, a governor has near unlimited power to grant clemency, which includes commutations of sentence and pardons. Soon after Hochman's landslide win in November, the governor stated that he would hold off on any action of his own until the new DA got in office and up to speed on the Menendez matter. 'The governor will defer to the D.A.-elect's review and analysis of the Menendez case prior to making any clemency decisions,' Newsom's office said on November 18. Clearly that deference has reached a limit of sorts for the governor, which the Menendez family and their representatives made very clear today they appreciate. 'Instead, this initial step reflects the Governor's considered decision to at least obtain the information required to make a fair decision as to whether Erik and Lyle, after 35 years in prison, have done the hard work necessary to have a chance at a life outside prison,' the media savvy lawyers added of the parole board review decision by Newsom. 'Jose and Kitty's family members, as well as Erik and Lyle, can ask for nothing more.' In many ways, the governor's move for the risk assessment was prompted by Hochman, who spent almost as much time in last week's hastily called press conference noting Newsom has 'absolutely unilateral full power, Constitutional power' to commute the brothers' individual sentences any time he like, as the DA spent explaining his opposition to a new trial for the brothers. Mired in internal politics, with two high-level Gascón era Assistant DAs suing the DA's office over perceived demotions in relation to their work on the Menendez case. Also, several family members hav expressed frustration with Hochman, especially over his hiring for a top position of a lawyer who until recently represented the Menendez uncle who is very vocally opposed to the brothers' getting out of prison. The DA's office did not respond today to Deadline's request for comment on Gov. Newsom's parole board order. Never far from the headlines over the years since the brothers' two trials, the Menendez case was resurrected for a new generation in part because of supposed new evidence of sexual abuse by the brothers' music executive father revealed in Peacock's 2023 docuseries Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed, and more recently, Ryan Murphy's extremely well watched nine-part crime drama Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, which launched on Netflix on September 19 last year Those shows were followed by an also well-watched Menendez documentary on the Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters-run streamer, along advocacy for the brothers from the likes of Kim Kardashian and a number of the killers' family members. After several delays due to the DA race and new regime, the resentencing hearing for the Menendenz brothers, who have been popping up on a number of podcasts of late, is set for March 20-21 in front of LA Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic. How to Select a Medical Mattress for Post-Surgery Recovery - Middle East Business News and Information
After any surgery , the recovery process is one of the most difficult situations to deal with. It's critical to make any patient as comfortable as possible to have a smooth recovery. A high-quality medical mattress that provides excellent comfort will greatly help. Medical mattresses are designed for support and relief so patients can avoid complications while they get better. If you're looking for a medical mattress in Dubai, here's a guide to help you select the best one for you or your loved one's post-surgery recovery. What Is a Medical Mattress? A medical mattress is a specialised mattress often used in hospitals and care facilities to support patients' recovery from surgery. Nowadays, it's easy to own a medical bed mattress. It's a great investment since it's durable, comfortable, and relieves pressure. So, for post-surgery patients who need to recover in bed for a long period, a medical mattress is a must. An orthopaedic mattress is not the same as a medical mattress. An ortho medical mattress focuses on skeletal support, while a medical bed mattress specialises in pressure relief and bedsore prevention. Still, many medical mattresses in Dubai have orthopaedic features, so you can benefit from both kinds of beds. Benefits of Using a Medical Mattress for Post-Surgery Recovery You may think that a medical mattress isn't necessary since recovering after surgery will just take a short time. But it's actually a very good investment for these reasons: Relieves Pressure and Supports the Body: Medical mattresses support the entire body to help the patient heal faster while reducing discomfort. Since post-surgery patients need to lie down for long periods, they can easily get bedsores from regular beds. A bed with a medical mattress distributes a person's weight evenly to reduce the risk of developing pressure sores. Provides Safety for the Patient: Most medical bed mattresses have features that keep patients safe. A common feature of this type of bed is the anti-slip surface which prevents patients from falling and sustaining injuries. Regulates Temperature: It's important to keep patients cool while lying on their beds for days or weeks since excessive sweating can cause discomfort and disrupt their recovery. Medical mattresses with Outlast technology utilise temperature regulation that prevents moisture, excessive sweating, and discomfort. 4 Key Features to Consider When Selecting a Medical Bed Mattress If you need a medical bed mattress, you have to consider these features that help with comfort and safety for recovering patients: A key feature of well-made medical mattresses is pressure relief. You can visit mattress shops in Dubai and check foam mattresses or those with innovative pressure relief technologies for bedsore prevention. Look for a mattress that's firm enough to provide support, but it must also be comfortable for prolonged use. A hybrid mattress or one with high-density PU (polyurethane) foam material is great for back and joint support while still being comfortable. As patients recover, their needs will change. You would want a medical mattress that's compatible with adjustable beds. You can also find ones that allow adjustable firmness levels for customised support depending on the patient's specific conditions. Finally, you want a medical bed mattress that is made from durable and high-quality materials for long-term recovery and daily use. You'd also want one with removable covers, which makes it easier to clean. A quick tip would be to check the reputation of the mattress manufacturer in Dubai before you make any purchase to know if the mattress you'll be purchasing would be worth your money. How to Choose a Medical Mattress Based on The Patient's Needs Now that you understand the basic features that a medical mattress should have. The next step is to assess the needs of the patient. Mobility: You need to know how mobile the patient is. Right after the surgery, the patient would most likely have very limited movements. An electric adjustable bed with a medical mattress with alternating pressure might be a wise choice. Medical Condition: You need to consider the patient's medical condition. For example, a patient recovering from hip replacement surgery would greatly benefit from an orthopaedic medical mattress with PU foam since it can provide skeletal support. Cost: Set a budget for your medical mattress. Some mattresses may cost more depending on their features. You must communicate your needs and budget clearly to the staff of the mattress shop in Dubai from which you'll be buying. Key Takeaways When Selecting a Medical Mattress When buying a medical mattress for post-surgery recovery, always prioritise pressure relief and unparalleled support. The patient will be spending most of the day in bed, so make the recovery process as comfortable as possible by selecting the correct mattress that has all the important features. If you're unsure where to find one, start researching mattress shops in Dubai and customer feedback on certain brands. Some stores also have staff who are ready to help you find the best medical mattress for you or your loved ones. Frequently Asked Questions What is a medical mattress? A medical mattress is designed for patients who have limited mobility or are bedridden. It features pressure relief to prevent bedsores and great support to avoid back and joint pain. What is the difference between a medical mattress and a regular mattress? Medical mattresses are specially made for people with medical conditions. They have features for improved support and pressure relief that regular mattresses usually don't have. What is the best mattress, according to doctors? Doctors may recommend different types of medical mattresses depending on a patient's needs. For example, a chiropractor might recommend a mattress with spine stretching and alignment features to a patient with back problems. How long does an orthopaedic mattress last? An orthopaedic mattress can usually last up to 10 years, depending on its quality and frequency of use. With proper maintenance, it may last for even longer. How thick should an ortho medical mattress be? An ortho medical mattress should be around six to eight inches thick to give enough support while being comfortable for prolonged bed rest. This type of mattress can still be thicker if a patient needs additional cushioning.
