Murshidabad TMC worker hacked to death

1 2 Behrampore: A TMC worker was hacked to death in Sialai village in Murshidabad's Bharatpur on Wednesday night. Two persons, including a TMC gram panchayat member, were detained for questioning. Preliminary probe suggests that Shasthi Ghosh's murder might have been linked to an old rivalry. The 56-year-old had recently questioned accounts of a local Puja committee. His family alleged that this demand for transparency led to Ghosh's murder. He was followed by attackers on two bikes and attacked with sharp weapons at a riverbank, said the family. Cops said Ghosh was a "known rowdy" and several criminal cases — including robbery, dacoity and murder — were pending against him. He was required to report regularly to the local PS. GTA 6 targets 60FPS on PS5 Pro with PlayStation engineers assisting

GTA 6 is reportedly running at 60FPS on the PS5 Pro according to new information shared by YouTuber DetectiveSeeds, who cites a PlayStation engineer with a record of verified details. The engineer is reported to be working with Rockstar Games on optimising GTA 6 for the PS5 Pro, with multiple graphical settings being tested and a target release window of May 2026. 'GTA 6 has been, and continues to hit 60fps while being optimised for the PS5 Pro on multiple graphical settings,' the source states. The report also notes, 'PS engineers are assisting with the optimisation due to the new tech being implemented and rolled out with a current target date of May 2026.' At this stage, 60FPS is confirmed only for the PS5 Pro, with no confirmation regarding framerates on the base PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. Fans have speculated that the collaboration between Rockstar Games and PlayStation may lead to GTA 6 PS5 Pro console bundles at launch, similar to previous marketing approaches with major titles. The leaker notes that PlayStation engineers are also supporting optimisation on other Rockstar projects expected in the near future. While fans are anticipating these developments, they are advised to wait for official confirmation from Rockstar Games closer to launch. GTA 6 is expected to be a significant release for Sony, with fans describing its potential for 60FPS on PS5 Pro as a key selling point.

400 days later: Brussels struggles to start talks on government deadlock

Discussions to form a Brussels regional government could resume thanks to a proposal put forward by the francophone liberal party MR, which has offered to forego one of its governmental posts to break the 400-day political deadlock. The six parties – MR, PS, and Les Engagés on the French side; Open VLD, Groen and Vooruit on the Flemish – will now work towards a coalition agreement by September. Talks had been at a standstill as the francophone Socialist Party (PS) refused to govern with Flemish nationalists N-VA – Prime Minister Bart de Wever's party. But Flemish liberals Open VLD insisted that N-VA should be included in a government coalition. Belgian politics is divided between French and Dutch -speaking language communities. But the federal system is particularly complicated in the Brussels region, where political groups from both sides are needed for a majority in the regional government. With an unusually awkward distribution of votes in the 2024 elections, it is mathematically difficult to form a majority without PS or N-VA. But these parties are almost diametrically opposed and PS has been intransigent in its resistance to the Flemish nationalists. On Friday 11 July, MR President Georges-Louis Bouchez announced that discussions between PS and his party had resumed to find a 'solution' by Belgium's national day on 21 July. Previous efforts to get parties to negotiate had blown up, with long-standing feuds preventing constructive dialogue. But with the region's debt swelling to €15 billion, at the same time its credit rating has been downgraded, the financial situation is clearly unsustainable. On Sunday, MR and N-VA reached an agreement: N-VA will not take a seat in the coalition. To appease them, MR would sacrifice a state secretary position in the future government, which would be replaced by a figure from civil society not affiliated with any party. This person is expected to be a French-speaker 'compatible' with N-VA positions, Belga News Agency writes, through which the party will have some indirect influence. But despite initial optimism that talks could resume, progress was again held up on Monday as N-VA sent a representative to the negotiations. The talks were promptly cancelled, Bruzz reported. Orlando Whitehead contributed reporting. (vib, ow)
