PS Plus Essential May 2025 games release time and every PS4 and PS5 title leaving

More games are coming to PS Plus Essential subscribers, but more games will have to leave in order to make way for them very soon. It's time for another bout of PS Plus Essential games (the best all year, might we add), which will arrive in your library incredibly soon. PS Plus came out swinging with its latest reveal, and if you've been following the gaming world for the last few years, you'll know just how good it is for Essential subscribers. The tier of the gaming service has been living it large for the last couple of months, especially after the PS Plus Essential April 2025 reveal delivered a nostalgic package featuring RoboCop and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for players. ‌ It got far better this month, though, with the PS Plus Essential May 2025 announcement revealing the arrival of Balatro, the Game Awards GOTY-nominated card game that has won over players across the world, especially after the arrival of Balatro on Xbox Game Pass only a couple of months ago. The service also comes packaged with Warhammer 40K: Boltgun, an exemplary Boomer Shooter that will no doubt fill the bloody, pulpy, tongue-in-cheek hole left between now and the launch of the similarly aggressive and throwback-inducing Doom: The Dark Ages. ‌ Capped off with Ark: Survival Ascended, it's a big month for players, and thankfully for us, there isn't long for us to wait before the PS Plus Essential May 2025 games release time. Here's what you need to know about when the new games will debut. PS Plus Essential May 2025 games release time The PS Plus Essential May 2025 release time is set for 2am PDT / 5am EDT / 10am BST on Tuesday, May 6. We know this because the PS Plus games of any tier always drop on the Tuesday following their announcement, an hour after the previous games leave. That means you have only a short period of time to add RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory to your library before they stop being free downloads, meaning you'll have to pay for them if you want them. It's a pretty big month of games to be looking forward to, but don't let that distract you from picking up the older games before they officially arrive. Brace yourself, because Balatro has the ability to get really infectious.

PS Plus Essential May 2025 games – Balatro and Warhammer 40K Boltgun join in major drop

It's time for another bout of PlayStation games with the latest PS Plus Essential drop, and it's coming out swinging with games like Balatro and Warhammer 40K: Boltgun. PS Plus is back once again, much to the joy of players, especially as right now, the gaming conversation has been all Nintendo Switch 2 and shock-dropped Oblivion Remaster. Of course, PlayStation consistently has loads going for it, but it's hard not to acknowledge that they're a little outside of the wider gaming conversation right now, so it's about time for the company to bite back. After all, it has done it before – the PS Plus Extra and Premium April 2025 lineup delivered Hogwarts Legacy, which was a huge deal for the service, and for subscribers who were yet to explore the Wizarding World therein. There has still been hope that PS Plus Essential can follow through and perform similarly, even though it has a tendency to offer smaller titles than Extra and Premium, even with RoboCop and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre appearing in the PS Plus Essential April 2025 drop. The lineup is finally here, though, and even though it didn't match up with our PS Plus Essential May 2025 predictions, it's still a collection of games that players will find something to enjoy in. Here's everything you need to know about the PS Plus Essential May 2025 games drop. PS Plus Essential May 2025 games confirmed The PS Plus Essential May 2025 games reveal has arrived courtesy of Sony, and as revealed in a new blog post, there are a few more titles for players to get stuck into across PS5 and PS4. Here's every game coming to the service on Tuesday, May 6, as revealed by a new blog post: Ark: Survival Ascended (PS5) Balatro (PS5 | PS4) Warhammer 40K: Boltgun (PS5 | PS4) This is an incredibly impressive drop that, for once, isn't best represented by its headliner. Balatro is a smash hit that proved that a one-dev Indie title can make it big with a Game Awards Game of the Year nomination, and Warhammer 40K: Boltgun is an exemplary boomer shooter that deserved far more attention at launch. These games replace RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory, which will leave the service an hour before the new titles appear. Act fast if you want to add these games to your library, as once they've been dropped from the service, you'll have to pay for it yourself.

PS Plus Essential May 2025 games reveal time – when the free PS5 and PS4 games are announced

PS Plus Essential subscribers, your time for new PS5 and PS4 games has nearly come as May's monthly drop is almost here. A new PS Plus drop is on the way, and if we're lucky, subscribers are in for another banger of a reveal featuring new PS5 and PS4 games they can get stuck into at no extra cost. PS Plus is winning more and more players over as the months of 2025 draw on, and even though the price of everything is escalating to a point where subscriptions like this one become harder to justify, Sony is willing to pull out the big guns to keep players around. This couldn't be more clearer than with the arrival of the PS Plus Extra and Premium April 2025 games, which skimped a little in the category of quantity, but it still managed to throw out Hogwarts Legacy for players who haven't yet explored the Wizarding World in a major delivery. ‌ It seems that we're no longer in a period of PlayStation having to pick and choose which game drop in the PS Plus category will get good games, as the PS Plus Essential April 2025 games drop was a belter, offering players a major throwback with games headlined by franchises like RoboCop and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Our PS Plus Essential May 2025 predictions would lead to a major drop offering players EA FC 25 – but even if it doesn't, the prospect of some free games is still something worth paying attention to. ‌ So, when can we expect the arrival of the next PS Plus drop for its Essential tier? Here's the PS Plus Essential May 2025 games reveal time. PS Plus Essential May 2025 games reveal time The PS Plus Essential May 2025 games reveal time will be 8.30am PDT / 11.30am EDT / 4.30pm BST on Wednesday, April 30. We know this because the Essential games of any given month are always revealed at this time on the Wednesday of the week before their drop, which in this case is Tuesday, May 6. Fingers are crossed everywhere that the new PS Plus drop will be a big one, and if we're lucky, it'll offer us plenty to do while we wait for the latest AAA titles to drop. After all, it doesn't seem like PlayStation is up to much else at the moment.

PlayStation Plus Free Games May 2025: Predictions, Rumors, Leaks And More

May is almost upon us, and with it a brand new lineup of free PlayStation Plus Essential games just in time for Memorial Day and the end of the school year. What should gamers expect this coming month? Only a few days of May remain. April's PS Plus Essential lineup included RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory. That's quite the mouthful, though not a particularly compelling lineup. Not bad, by any means, but nothing all that exciting. Last year's May lineup included FC24, Ghostrunner II, Tunic and Destiny 2: Lightfall. Hopefully this year's is as good. Read on for more information on next month's PS Plus lineup. PS Plus is Sony's monthly membership program that grants access to online gaming. You don't need it for streaming movies or TV shows on Netflix and other services, or for free-to-play games like Warzone or Fortnite. Any paid online games, however, require a subscription. There are three PS Plus tiers—Essential, Extra and Premium—though for the purposes of this post we're only discussing the Essential tier's free monthly games. Following a big price-hike, these tiers cost: PS Plus Essential — $79.99/year; PS Plus Extra — $134.99/year; PS Plus Premium — $159.99/year. Sony typically reveals the following month's games on the last Wednesday of the month, though this isn't always the case. The actual rule of thumb is that the new lineup always releases on the first Tuesday of the month and the games are revealed the previous Wednesday. This means, we'll get our April reveal on Wednesday, April 30th and the games will release on Tuesday, May 6th. We actually do have a leak to share this month. It appears one of my favorite horror games of all time could be headed to May's PS Plus lineup. The Until Dawn remake, which released in 2024, might be one of next month's games. You can read more about that right here. Given that the movie adaptation just hit theaters, and isn't doing all that well, releasing the game might be a good bit of cross-promotion for the film. Beyond this, there really aren't any new game releases that would lineup with a May 6th release date, though it's always possible we'll get a stealth release of something we didn't know was coming. Mostly, we just have predictions and wish-list games to go off of. I could see Sony releasing The Last Of Us Part II to cross-promote the HBO series, but that feels like a long-shot. Here are some of my guesses: What do you hope to see in May's PlayStation Plus lineup? Let me know on Twitter or Facebook. One Of May's Free PS Plus Games Just Leaked Online And It's Scary Good

Until Dawn Credit: Sony We've had very few PlayStation Plus leaks lately, but it appears we may know what at least one of next month's PS Plus Essential titles is going to be. PS Plus Essential titles are released on the first Tuesday of the month, with a reveal of the lineup the previous Wednesday, which means we won't know for sure what's coming next month until the last day of April. But this seems pretty likely given the timing. As spotted by reddit user ShaneTVZ, it appears the Until Dawn remake could be one of May's free titles. The reddit user posted this screenshot on the PlayStation Plus subreddit: Until Dawn leak Credit: Sony Until Dawn originally released way back in 2015. It remains one of my favorite horror games, taking the classic 'group of attractive young people goes on vacation and gets killed one-by-one' movie trope and making it an interactive adventure where players have to make choices and outcomes can vary. It's been years since I played, but if the 2024 remake is one of next month's PS Plus offerings, I'll happily dive back in. The game has quite the cast. Hayden Panettiere, Peter Stormare, Rami Malek and lots of other talented actors offer their voice acting skills and likenesses, making this a genuinely cinematic experience. The original game was developed by Supermassive Games, while the remake was handled by Ballistic Moon. The remake itself did not fare well with critics, though it has a 'Mostly Positive' rating on Steam. The original game didn't come to PC, so this was the first time PC players were able to take it for a spin. Most of the criticism from gamers is lackluster performance. Critics mostly said the remake felt more like a remaster and was largely unnecessary, adding little value to the original with only mildly improved graphics. Until Dawn Credit: Sony Still, free is free and I'd happily dive back in now that I've had a decade to forget the story. The leak seems especially likely given that the Until Dawn movie just hit theaters and appears to be a hot mess. I'm not surprised it's getting poor reviews. When the trailer first released, the only thing I could think was how little it actually looked like the game it was purportedly based off of, which is weird given how easily this game could translate to the big screen. What the other two (or possibly three) PS Plus games headed to May's lineup are remains a mystery. We'll know more this Wednesday.
