One Of May's Free PS Plus Games Just Leaked Online And It's Scary Good

We've had very few PlayStation Plus leaks lately, but it appears we may know what at least one of next month's PS Plus Essential titles is going to be.
PS Plus Essential titles are released on the first Tuesday of the month, with a reveal of the lineup the previous Wednesday, which means we won't know for sure what's coming next month until the last day of April. But this seems pretty likely given the timing.
As spotted by reddit user ShaneTVZ, it appears the Until Dawn remake could be one of May's free titles. The reddit user posted this screenshot on the PlayStation Plus subreddit:

Until Dawn originally released way back in 2015. It remains one of my favorite horror games, taking the classic 'group of attractive young people goes on vacation and gets killed one-by-one' movie trope and making it an interactive adventure where players have to make choices and outcomes can vary. It's been years since I played, but if the 2024 remake is one of next month's PS Plus offerings, I'll happily dive back in.
The game has quite the cast. Hayden Panettiere, Peter Stormare, Rami Malek and lots of other talented actors offer their voice acting skills and likenesses, making this a genuinely cinematic experience.
The original game was developed by Supermassive Games, while the remake was handled by Ballistic Moon. The remake itself did not fare well with critics, though it has a 'Mostly Positive' rating on Steam. The original game didn't come to PC, so this was the first time PC players were able to take it for a spin. Most of the criticism from gamers is lackluster performance. Critics mostly said the remake felt more like a remaster and was largely unnecessary, adding little value to the original with only mildly improved graphics.

Still, free is free and I'd happily dive back in now that I've had a decade to forget the story. The leak seems especially likely given that the Until Dawn movie just hit theaters and appears to be a hot mess. I'm not surprised it's getting poor reviews. When the trailer first released, the only thing I could think was how little it actually looked like the game it was purportedly based off of, which is weird given how easily this game could translate to the big screen.
What the other two (or possibly three) PS Plus games headed to May's lineup are remains a mystery. We'll know more this Wednesday.

‘S.W.A.T.' Receives Spinoff After Multiple Cancellations — But Who From the Cast Is Returning?
S.W.A.T. has been picked up for a spinoff after multiple cancellations — and days after CBS aired the show's series finale — but which cast members are returning for the new iteration? Sony announced on Sunday, May 18, that a new spinoff series starring Shemar Moore as Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson has been picked up. Sony Pictures Television will produce and distribute S.W.A.T. Exiles globally with development currently underway and production scheduled to start in Los Angeles this summer. According to the official press release, the 10-episode series picks up after "a high-profile mission goes sideways, Daniel 'Hondo' Harrelson is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits." Moore's character must "bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is." Moore, 55, reflected on the decision to reprise his role, which comes two days after CBS aired the S.W.A.T. series finale. Every TV Spinoff to (Hopefully) Look Forward to in 2025: From 'The Testaments' to 'The Madison' 'My eight seasons on S.W.A.T. have been epic and memorable. We entertained the world, defied the odds, came back from the dead twice, and continued to woo fans and families worldwide," the actor said. "I am excited for this next generation and iteration of S.W.A.T. with Sony. Katherine Pope, Neal H. Moritz, Jason Ning, and I will keep the franchise, thrill ride action, heartfelt drama, and storytelling of S.W.A.T. alive. WE DON'T LOSE!!!! ROLL SWAT!!!.' Based on the 1975 TV show and 2003 film adaptation of the same name, S.W.A.T. centered around the Los Angeles Police Department. The CBS series premiered in 2017 and aired six seasons before it was picked up for a seventh and final run. CBS ultimately reversed that decision and S.W.A.T. returned for season 8. But the celebration didn't last long — the network canceled the show for a second time in March. The last season of S.W.A.T. also starred Jay Harrington, David Lim, Patrick St. Esprit, Anna Enger Ritch, Annie Ilonzeh and Niko Pepaj, but there's no word yet on who could return for the spinoff. Before news of S.W.A.T. Exiles broke, Ilonzeh spoke with Us Weekly about attempts to revive the series. Which TV Shows Are Canceled in 2025-2026? Get the Status of Your Favorite Series "We are crossing our fingers. So there is a particular discussion being had. I hope I can say [soon] that we really did it. We rallied for a third time," she shared in April. "But we're making noise. They do see it — producers and streamers that are interested — they are like, 'OK, this is something.' So if we can plug and play, we're all geared up to go. We don't want this ride to be over." Despite fighting for S.W.A.T. to get a new home, it would be the show's last battle to stay on the air. "I was just talking to [my costar] Shemar [Moore] yesterday and he was like, 'If we do this for a third time — whenever we do get canceled again — I will be OK with it. I'm not fighting for a fourth [time] because we really did it and we end on that,'" she noted. "We will end on the fight and the win and relish in all of this and squeeze the life out of it. We will know that we did it, we did our job and we can walk away happy campers."

3 new PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend (May 30-June 1)
Under normal circumstances, we would have to wait until next week to get our drop of new PlayStation Plus games, but this is a special occasion. We're currently right at the start of the Days of Play event where Sony celebrates with tons of community events and huge discounts on PS5 games and accessories. The icing on the cake is that we're not only getting four new games for Essential members, but an additional four for Extra and two more for Premium, with several already available. That's a lot to keep up with if you weren't prepared for it, which is where I come in. We will have to wait for most of the games until Tuesday, but here are a few new games you can start playing over this weekend to start the celebrations early. Destiny 2: The Final Shape With all the talk surrounding Marathon, Bungie, and live service games as a whole, it might feel in bad form to recommend The Final Shape right now. However, for what it's worth, Bungie did manage to make what looks like its last major expansion to the Destiny universe its best yet. This feels like the true swansong of the 10+ year journey players have been on since launch in all the right ways. The story is as complex as ever overall, but the micro moments with characters and the buildup to missions and major battles are thrilling. Gunplay, as always, is a joy with even more ways to break open the game. If you're overly pessimistic about Bungie right now, this might help remind you that it can still deliver. Recommended Videos Destiny 2: The Final Shape is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Another Crab's Treasure Don't be fooled by the tone or presentation of this game. Another Crab's Treasure is a deep (pun intended) soulslike with a style all its own that is way more than just a fun parody. Sure, you will see deliberate jabs here and there, like how the game takes place in the Sands Between, but the gameplay is dead serious. Besides its underwater setting, what sets this game apart is its shell mechanic. Depending on what shell your crab is wearing, you have access to a different ability. If even the mention of the word soulslike turns you off, fear not. This game is meant to be beginner-friendly and has plenty of accessibility and assist options. Another Crab's Treasure is available now on PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC. Alone in the Dark 2 I'm taking you way back with this pick, but stick with me because I have a reason. Sadly, I can't put the very first game on the list since it isn't on PS Plus, so Alone in the Dark 2 will have to do. This is the sequel to the game that essentially inspired all survival horror games after. It is a bit rough on the eyes now, and just as clunky as it was in the '90s, but just as creepy and astounding when you consider the era it came out in. But beyond being a classic I think anyone should try, next week we are getting the 2024 reboot that sadly went overlooked by most. There's no need to play this first to understand the modern entry, but it is always a fun exercise to see where a series started compared to where it is now. Alone in the Dark 2 is available now on PS4, PS5, and PC.

CBS Gains ‘Jeopardy!' & ‘Wheel Of Fortune' Distribution Rights At Least Until Legal Battle With Sony Is Over
UPDATED, 2:35 PM: Sony and CBS spun the wheel one more time this month over who controls Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, and the still Shari Redstone-owned company hit the game show jackpot. Solidifying what a three-judge panel from the Second Appellate District temporarily put in place last month, that same panel has now ruled that CBS will remain the sole distributor of the lucrative Jeopardy! and now Ryan Seacrest hosted Wheel. More from Deadline 'Jeopardy!' & 'Wheel of Fortune' Legal Shocker: CBS Loses Out To Sony In Court Battle Over Rights To Distribute Game Shows Wink Martindale Dies: Game Show Host Of 'Tic-Tac-Dough', 'Gambit' And 'High Rollers' Was 91 Paramount Offers Millions To Trump To End $20B '60 Minutes' Suit & Let Skydance Merger Go Through 'Pending disposition of this appeal, the trial court's order of April 10, 2025 finding that 'Sony can begin distributing the Shows and need not deliver episodes to CBS' is hereby stayed, including all matters embraced therein or affected thereby by the trial court's order,' ordered Appeal Court Judges Gonzalo Martinez, John Segal and Natalie Stone on Wednesday in a short ruling after reviewing arguments from both sides. You can read the ruling here. The decision puts the shows in CBS' hands for the entire duration of the court battle between the network and Sony. CBS had 'no comment' on yesterday's ruling. Sony did not reply to request from Deadline for comment on the order. The once partnered companies have been in a breach-of-contract dispute since October 31 over CBS' more than 40-year-old distribution contract and claims by Sony Pictures TV of CBS licensing the blockbuster shows at below-market rates and engaging in 'self-dealing.' PREVIOUSLY, APRIL 16 PM: This is why they call it Jeopardy! Less than a week after Sony snagged back the distribution rights to the Ken Jennings-hosted game show and Wheel of Fortune, a California appeals court today handed those rights back to CBS, at least for now. 'The superior court's order of April 10, 2025 denying the preliminary injunction and allowing Respondents to begin 'distributing the shows and need not deliver episodes to CBS' is stayed pending further order of this court,' a three-judge panel from the Second Appellate District ordered Wednesday. With the petition for writ of supersedeas filed by CBS on April 11, Sony now has until April 28 to respond, with the Shari Redstone-owned CBS giving its reply by May 9. All of that means those new deals and platforms that Sony was hoping for the beloved and money-making game shows are in legal purgatory for at least a month. CBS had no further comment besides its petition and today's order. Sony did not respond to Deadline's request for comment Wednesday. The once-chummy companies have been in a breach-of-contract dispute since October 31 over CBS' more than 40-year-old distribution contract and claims by Sony Pictures TV of CBS licensing the blockbuster shows at below-market rates and engaging in 'self-dealing.' After a judicial pingpong match, things went sideways for CBS when Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kevin Brazile last Thursday favored Sony over CBS Media Ventures' pitch to pause Sony taking over full distribution of Wheel and Jeopardy! Agreements for the Merv Griffin shows have been place since 1982 and under the respective umbrellas of CBS and Sony since the late 1990s. Which begs the question: What is hassle?
