3 officers hospitalized after being hit by semi-truck during traffic stop in Prince William County, police say
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. () — Part of Interstate 95 was closed early Monday and multiple injuries were reported after a semi-truck hit officers during a traffic stop, according to Prince William County police. Mother of missing Navy sailor in Norfolk speaks out as investigation continues In a post on X just before 2:30 a.m., the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) said officers were investigating a crash on I-95 south, with multiple people injured. As a result, the interstate was closed between Dumfries and Joplin Road. PWCPD told DC News Now that at least six vehicles were involved in the crash, and responders took three officers to the hospital treatment. The three were reportedly conducting a traffic stop near the Dumfries exit when the semi truck hit their cruisers. All three officers are expected to be OK, police noted. Check for updates. 18-year-old hurt in shooting at Woodbridge park over Memorial Day weekend
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. () — Police are investigating after an 18-year-old was hurt in a shooting that happened over Memorial Day weekend at a park in Woodbridge. Officers with the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) first responded to the Potomac Ridge Apartments to investigate a shots fired call at around 10:20 p.m. on May 25. While there, officers were told an 18-year-old was at a local hospital suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. DC police investigating Memorial Day shooting in Southeast Investigators said the 18-year-old and a group of individuals were in a community park near the apartment complex when he said he saw masked people with guns. Shortly after, multiple rounds were fired, and he was struck before the groups dispersed. PWCPD noted no one else was injured and no property damage was reported. Man charged after dog left in car dies, Prince William County Police say
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. () — A man was charged with animal cruelty after he left a dog unattended in a car for hours, the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) said. Just before 6:45 p.m. on Friday, May 16, officers responded to the Manassas Mall parking lot to investigate reports of an unconscious dog. Investigators said 28-year-old Malik Lee Dorsey-O'Bannion left his 2-year-old American Bull Dog unattended in his car. After a couple of hours, when he returned to the vehicle, the dog was unresponsive. Police investigate deadly ATV collision in Prince George's County Animal control officers pronounced the dog dead at the scene. PWCPD said authorities found he had six other dogs in the mall. 18-year-old driver dead after single-car crash in Clifton
CLIFTON, Va. (DC News Now) — Police have identified a person who died after a car crashed into a tree in Clifton on Thursday afternoon. The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said that around 3:25 p.m., its officers responded to the 11000 block of Chapel Road for the crash. A 2005 Toyota Highlander had left the road and hit a tree. The driver, 18-year-old Alexander Aiden Richmond of Clifton, died there. PWCPD: Man accused of going 20+ mph over speed limit during deadly Woodbridge crash FCPD said that detectives do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash. PWCPD: Man accused of going 20+ mph over speed limit during deadly Woodbridge crash
WOODBRIDGE, Va. () — A 23-year-old man is being held behind bars after he was accused of driving more than 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit during a deadly crash in Woodbridge, police said. According to the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD), an arrest warrant was issued for Louis Anariba in connection with the crash that claimed the life of 32-year-old Evangelina Castro. Woman killed in two-vehicle crash at Woodbridge intersection This comes after an investigation revealed that around 7 p.m. on May 1, a Honda was trying to make a left turn on Dale Boulevard. That's when the car and a Honda Civic, driven by Anariba, collided at the intersection of Barksdale Street First responders pulled Castro from the first Honda, and she was taken to the hospital, where she died. The driver, a man, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. As the investigation unfolded, Prince William County police learned that Anariba was allegedly driving more than 20 mph over the posted 45 mph speed limit.
