Thane man kills wife, minor daughter before dying by suicide
A man allegedly killed his wife and minor daughter before allegedly dying by suicide in Ulhasnagar Camp area in Thane district of Maharashtra. Preliminary inquiry indicated that the family was under tremendous financial burden due to debts. Police said that before taking his life, the man shot a video on his mobile phone in which he claimed that he took the extreme step due to debts. The deceased persons have been identified as Pawan Ahuja, his wife Neha, and their minor daughter. The incident surfaced on Thursday morning when Pahuja's brother tried calling him but he did answer the phone. His brother then informed the police, and a team of Ulhasnagar police reached the spot and discovered three bodies inside a house in Harsh Cottage building in Ulhasnagar Camp-1 area. They were sent to Central hospital, Ulhasnagar. Preliminary medical examination revealed that the woman and her daughter were strangled to death, while Pahuja killed himself, the police said. Initial inquiry has revealed that Pahuja had a financial debt of around Rs 14-15 lakh and was under stress due to this, DCP Sachin Gore said. In the 16-17 second-long video that he shot before the suicide, he held no other person responsible for his act and took the entire blame on himself, the senior officer said. Locals were in shock as the daughter had just received her SSC results and cleared it. The probe also revealed that Pahuja family was distressed as Pahuja's son had died around a year ago due to some illness, another officer said. Pahuja used to work at a gold jewellery making unit in Sonar Galli in Ulhasnagar. 'We have registered accidental death reports for now. After investigation, we would file murder case against Pahuja and then file an abated summary report in the court and close it,' said Gore.
