CM Saini's intervention reunites missing youth with grandmother
Panchkula: The intervention of Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with swift action by Panchkula Police, led to the safe reunion of a missing 19-year-old youth with his grandmother and the successful recovery of Rs 1 lakh. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The case concerns Krishna, a widowed woman originally from Uchana, Jind district, who currently resides in a rented house in Sector 19, along with her grandson, Prince. According to Krishna, Prince was missing for the past 4-5 days. Earlier on Wednesday, Krishna sought help from CM Saini and informed him that before disappearing, her grandson transferred Rs 1 lakh to some of his friends through various online transactions. Taking immediate cognisance of the matter, the CM contacted police commissioner Sibas Kaviraj. The commissioner formed a special team under the leadership of sub-inspector Tajinder Pal Singh, in charge of the anti-immigration fraud unit. The police traced the missing youth in just five hours. Prince was found safe at a friend's house in Panchkula. The police also recovered the full Rs 1 lakh that was transferred online.

Panchkula Police's ERV response time improves by two minutes
During an interaction with police officials at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 3, on Saturday, deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Himadree Kaushik highlighted that the average response time of Panchkula Police's emergency response vehicles (ERVs) has improved by two minutes, reducing from eight minutes to six minutes. Kaushik added that this faster response will enable the police to reach incident scenes more quickly. She also issued crucial directives to the heads of all ERV, police control room (PCR), riders, and quick response teams (QRT), emphasising the importance of remaining vigilant for crime prevention. The DCP stressed that constant alertness across all units is paramount to avert any untoward incidents in the city. Kaushik also instructed all officers to maintain a strict watch on suspicious individuals and vehicles, with increased scrutiny at all city checkpoints. Negligence during patrolling will not be tolerated, the DCP asserted. Furthermore, the Smart e-Beat system, used for real-time monitoring of patrolling teams, was reviewed to further optimise its effectiveness.

115 arrested, 57 NDPS cases registered in 4 months in Panchkula
1 2 3 Panchkula: A total of 115 persons were arrested, and 57 cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in four months this year. The police also seized a significant quantity of illegal substances, including over 75 kilograms of poppy husk, 9.417 kilograms of charas, 5.156 kilograms of opium, 5.750 kilograms of cannabis, 727 grams of heroin, and 9,560 banned tablets. In addition to enforcement, Panchkula Police launched a social awareness campaign titled 'Nasha aur Hinsa Mukt – Mera Gaon, Meri Shaan' on Dec 2, 2024. As part of this initiative, police teams visited nearly 305 areas across the district where they interacted with more than 12,200 residents to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, the police said. Through these outreach efforts, 1,623 drug-affected individuals were identified. Among them, 1,484 people were provided with counselling and medical assistance. 50 individuals with severe addiction, some unable to even walk, were admitted to the de-addiction centre located in Sector 6. Due to the combined efforts of the police and the health department, many of these individuals recovered and are leading normal lives. The police also organised awareness drives in various educational institutions and public places.
