Post gangster killing, hospitals told to strengthen security
Patna: Following the murder of gangster Chandan Mishra inside a private hospital, superintendent of police (east) Parichay Kumar on Monday held a meeting with hospital representatives and reviewed the security arrangements. Around 50 to 60 hospital representatives attended the meeting. The SP gave necessary instructions, which included installation of HHMD (hand held metal detector) and high-resolution CCTV cameras, to strengthen the security on hospital premises. "The objective of the meeting is to further improve the security arrangements in the hospitals," he said. Additionally, various issues raised by the hospital management were listened to seriously, and assurances were given for their appropriate resolution. Kumar said the hospitals need to increase the CCTV camera coverage to also capture roads, with a proper control room, to keep tabs on all the happenings. "If any suspicious activity is detected, inform the police or the local police stations. They should also display the contact numbers of the local police stations, SDPOs and SPs on the hospital premises," he said. They mentioned employing security guards and following all guidelines provided. The HHMD should be used by all the hospitals to detect any weapons or illegal items while screening the patients, their attendants, and the visitors at the hospital," the SP said. The main instruction is for effective access control, particularly checking people, patients, their attendants, and any suspicious person, he said. Police have stepped up security and keeping an eye on hospitals after the paroled criminal Chandan Mishra was gunned down at a private hospital on Bailey Road in Patna on July 17. The police suspect security lapses and involvement of security personnel in helping the accused easily enter the hospital building and the patient's room.

Mother-son duo among 3 drug peddlers held
1 2 Ara: In a major crackdown on the smuggling and sale of contraband in Bhojpur district, police on Thursday arrested three people, including a mother-son duo, during two separate operations conducted under Ara Town and Piro police stations. Parichay Kumar, ASP and Ara Sadar SDPO, said, "In the first crackdown against drug peddling, two peddlers named Pushpa Devi and her son Bittu Bhagat were arrested with 86 grams of heroin at Gausganj locality under Ara Town police station. In our initial investigation, it was found that the mother-son duo used to sell heroin near the Gangi area of the Gausganj locality. Further investigation is going on in the case." In a second operation, carried out under Piro police station, one Banarsi Sao, a resident of Basawan Rai ka Tola, was arrested with 8.6kg of ganja valued at about Rs 4 lakh. Heroin worth Rs5cr seized, two held in Ara
1 2 Ara: In a major anti-drug operation, Bihar STF and Bhojpur police seized over 2kg of heroin worth Rs 5 crore in the international black market. The joint raid also led to the arrest of two alleged peddlers. ASP and Ara Sadar SDPO Parichay Kumar said, "Acting on intelligence inputs received Friday evening that heroin was being smuggled from Ghazipur (UP) to Ara, a joint team launched a crackdown." Police first intercepted a car in the Ara Nawada police station area and seized about 1kg of heroin, arresting two men on board. "Acting on the information given by the arrested smugglers, the team raided a house and recovered another 1.107 kg of heroin," said Kumar. In total, 2.107kg of heroin was seized. Police also recovered Rs 1,27,490 in cash, four passbooks, four cheque books, an ATM card, PAN, Aadhaar, driving licence, the car used and two cellphones. The accused have been identified as Ankush Kumar of Anaith Kurmi locality and Indrajeet Kumar of Anaith Paswan locality, both under Ara Nawada police station. "A case under BNS and NDPS Act has been registered. The house owner from where 1 kg heroin was seized has also been made an accused," Kumar added. "The police will also invoke relevant sections of BNS to appeal for property attachment," he added.

Police recover Rs4.9L robbed by Kodha gang in Ara
1 2 Ara: Bhojpur police on Wednesday recovered the entire Rs 4.9 lakh looted by members of the infamous Kodha gang on May 13 in Ara. The stolen amount was found in Katihar district and returned to its rightful owner. Providing details at a press conference, ASP and sadar SDPO Parichay Kumar said, "On May 13, one Sumant Kumar Singh lodged a complaint at Ara Nawada police station, alleging that while returning in an autorickshaw after withdrawing Rs 4.9 lakh from an SBI branch in Katira locality, two bike-borne miscreants snatched the plastic bag containing the cash from him on Katira overbridge and fled." Suspecting the involvement of the Kodha gang, Bhojpur police sought help from the Bihar STF 's Kodha cell. "Based on inputs from the STF, a team led by SHO of Ara Nawada police station, Bipin Bihari, along with the District Intelligence Unit (DIU), conducted a raid at Naya Tola Jurabganj village under Kodha police station in Katihar district. The total looted amount of Rs 4.9 lakh was recovered from the house of the main accused, Sumit Kumar Yadav, who had fled the village," said Kumar. Raids are on to arrest Yadav and his two accomplices. Miscreants from the Kodha gang have been linked to three to four similar robbery incidents in Ara in recent times. Speaking on their methods, Kumar said, "As per our investigation, the Kodha gang monitors bank customers and targets those carrying large sums in plastic or cloth bags, which they view as easy targets. However, Bhojpur police have successfully recovered most of the looted money or jewellery in recent cases of such snatching attempts. We remain in constant coordination with the Bihar STF to dismantle the gang and arrest all its members."

Ara man arrested for posting anti-India video
Ara: Bhojpur police on Friday arrested a man in Ara for allegedly posting objectionable anti-India doctored video regarding Operation Sindoor that went viral on social media on Thursday. Sadar subdivisional police officer, ASP Parichay Kumar, said soon after they got information regarding the viral post, a special team was constituted to verify it and nab the culprit. "Based on technical inputs, police zeroed in on the accused, a resident of Tari Molalla in Ara, who works at an electronic shop in Nawada area of the town, and arrested him. He is being interrogated," said the ASP. Bhojpur superintendent of police (SP) Raj said the mobile phone of the accused has been confiscated, and that the cyber police has been roped in to assist in the case. An FIR has been lodged by Ara's Nawada police station SHO against the arrested accused. In the viral post on his social media platform, the accused had shared a fake video purportedly showing the victory of Pakistan against India in the recent conflict between the two countries. An objectionable doctored picture of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also there in the viral post. According to the police sources, the accused used to follow Pakistani social media channels, which was recently banned by the Indian govt.
