With a squad full of young and promising talent, including the likes of IPL stars Priyansh Arya and Suyash Sharma, the veteran cricketer is ready to channel his rich experience into shaping the next generation of Delhi-based the modern cricketing world, success isn't just about skills with the bat or ball, it's also about how well a team works together. That's where man management comes in. IND vs ENG 2025: India bowling lacked consistency, was wayward in 4th Test, says star Indian cricketer
Jasprit Bumrah conceded more than 100 runs in a Test innings for first time in his career. (Photo: IANS) Team India managed to eke out a heroic draw in the 4th Test vs England in Manchester last week. Heading into the fifth and final Test against England which begins at the Oval in London on Thursday, Shubman Gill's Indian side have the chance to level the five-match series at 2-2. However, there are certainly some major area of concerns for the visiting Indian side, especially when it comes to their bowling performance. After posting 358 runs in their first innings, the Indian bowlers conceded a massive 669 runs to the English batters. The bowling performance especially on the second day was shocking as they allowed England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett to race to 166 runs just after Tea by bowling wayward lines and lengths. Speaking on 'Match Centre Live', JioHotstar expert Parthiv Patel reflected on India's performance in the 4th Test. 'Looking at the way India played this Test match, there's not much I would change — but if you ask what could have been done better, I'd say the phase on Day 2 when England batted. During that period, India's bowling lacked consistency and was a bit wayward on both sides of the wicket. That's where some correction was possible,' Patel said. 'Otherwise, this has been a very good Test match for India, especially considering how things unfolded after the toss. Almost everything seemed to go against India — when India went in to bat, the clouds were overhead – when England came out to bat, the sun was shining bright. Add to that England's huge total of 669 runs, and you can see how tough it was. Still, the way India fought back, there's a lot of confidence to take into the 5th Test,' the former India wicketkeeper added. ' .'#ParthivPatel breaks down what India missed in the 4th Test vs England, highlighting key tactical lapses.#ENGvIND 5th TEST | Starts THU, 31st July, 2:30 PM | Streaming on… — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) July 28, 2025 England's efforts were clear: Parthiv Patel Parthiv Patel shared his thoughts on the handshake controversy and India's approach in the 4th Test as well. The Gujarat Titans assistant coach felt that Ben Stokes and his side had the clear aim to bundle out Team India to seal the series. 'England did things their own way. Their effort was clear — they wanted to bowl India out and win the game. But when they realized that wasn't possible, they put their weapons down and acknowledged that India had played very well. At the same time, India did what they wanted to do in their own way — two players worked really hard, batted brilliantly, and both deserved to score centuries,' Patel felt. 'Test match should have continued till end of Day 5' Parthiv Patel didn't agree with 'spirit of cricket' argument when it came to the 'Handshake' controversy on the second day. 'The only question I have is this: if Ben Duckett had been batting on 90 in the same situation and the opposition offered a handshake, would England have accepted it? I am very curious to know this, especially with so many talking about the 'spirit of the game.' In my opinion, the game should have continued till the end of the day, even if the Indian batters completed their centuries. 'If 15 overs were still left, India should have batted because they worked extremely hard. Before lunch on Day 4, when two wickets fell, it looked like India could lose the Test on Day 5. But from that point to batting through 143 overs is an incredible effort. So, I believe what India did was absolutely right — though personally, I feel they could have batted a bit more,' Patel added.

RCB Was Going To Remove Virat Kohli As Captain In 2019? Moeen Ali Drops Shocking Truth
In a sensational revelation that has sent shockwaves through the cricketing world, former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Moeen Ali has disclosed that the franchise once considered sacking Virat Kohli as captain following their disastrous 2019 IPL season. The bombshell, dropped during an interview with India Today, sheds light on a tumultuous phase in the RCB camp and raises fresh questions about leadership, legacy, and loyalty within one of the Indian Premier League's most passionately followed teams. The 2019 IPL campaign proved to be one of the worst in RCB's history. The Virat Kohli-led side managed just 5 wins from 14 games, finishing last on the points table with a meager 11 points. The underwhelming performance not only frustrated fans but also sparked internal discussions within the franchise's management about a major overhaul—including a leadership change. According to Moeen Ali, who was part of RCB's squad that season, the team was seriously considering appointing Parthiv Patel as the new captain. Moeen revealed, 'Yes, I think he was. I'm quite sure he was. In the final year, when Gary Kirsten was there… Parthiv was in line to become captain. He had a brilliant cricketing brain. That was the talk at the time.' Though the plan never materialized, the mere consideration of replacing Kohli—a player synonymous with RCB's identity—highlighted the intense pressure and scrutiny within the camp. Parthiv Patel: The Forgotten Captaincy Contender Parthiv Patel's name may surprise many, but those closely following Indian cricket know his deep tactical acumen and leadership qualities. A veteran of domestic cricket with a short but impactful international career, Parthiv was known for his cricketing intelligence and ability to read the game. Although his captaincy stint with RCB never took off, he later transitioned into a successful mentorship role, currently serving as the assistant coach of Gujarat Titans and mentor of the Outer Delhi Warriors in the DPL. Virat Kohli's Resilient Journey with RCB Despite the internal chatter and mounting external pressure, Virat Kohli continued as RCB captain for two more seasons, finally stepping down in 2021. His captaincy tenure—from 2013 to 2021—was a roller-coaster ride, marked by extraordinary individual performances but limited team success. While RCB reached the finals under Kohli in 2016, the elusive IPL title remained just out of reach. The baton was passed to Faf du Plessis, who captained the side till 2024, before young batting sensation Rajat Patidar took over the reins. Rajat Patidar Leads RCB to Historic IPL 2025 Triumph In a twist of poetic justice, RCB finally clinched their first-ever IPL title in 2025—18 years after the tournament's inception. Patidar, a relatively young and untested captain, delivered where many greats before him had faltered. But even in this victory, Kohli's legacy loomed large. The former skipper was a vital part of the playing XI, guiding and mentoring the younger players while delivering impactful performances with the bat. Kohli also became the only player in IPL history to represent a single franchise for 18 consecutive seasons, a record that underscores his unwavering loyalty and enduring value to the RCB franchise. Gary Kirsten's Take and the Bigger Picture Former RCB head coach Gary Kirsten, speaking in 2019, had cryptically hinted at systemic issues within the franchise. 'There are some structural changes that need to be made… We'll certainly discuss with our owners and look into that for next year,' he said during a media interaction. Looking back, those 'structural changes' might have included the captaincy debate. Yet, the team opted for continuity—a decision that, despite the delays, ultimately bore fruit.

Should Rishabh Pant be allowed a batting sub? Parthiv Patel weighs in on ICC rule
Former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel has said that while Rishabh Pant's injury during the Manchester Test is unfortunate, there is nothing wrong with the ICC's rule that prevents replacement wicketkeepers from batting. If Dhruv Jurel replaces Pant in the fourth Test, he will be allowed to keep wickets but will not be permitted to per Section 24.1.2 of the ICC playing conditions, 'a substitute shall not bowl [or bat] or act as captain but may act as wicket-keeper only with the consent of the umpires.' Since 2017, the MCC has allowed substitute wicketkeepers in cases of genuine injury or illness, provided the on-field umpires approve it.'advertisement'I am okay with the rule'Patel, who played 25 Tests in his career from 2002 to 2018, said that since teams often try to exploit the concussion substitute rule, the ICC's regulations regarding wicketkeeper replacements is fair. 'See, there are already quite a few grey areas that teams try to exploit. Like in T20 cricket, we've seen how the concussion rule is sometimes taken advantage of. So, in an ongoing game, if someone gets injured, what do you do?' JioHotstar expert, Parthiv Patel said while replying to India Today's query.'I think it's only fair. At least now, the rule has changed so that a wicketkeeper can be replaced by another wicketkeeper. Earlier, that wasn't even allowed - someone else from the team would have had to keep wickets.'But I'm okay with the rule. It's unfortunate that Rishabh got hit, but it is what it is. What can you do about it? Parthiv Day 1, Pant sustained a painful blow on his toe while trying to play a reverse scoop off Chris Woakes. After being hit, he winced in pain and received treatment. But he failed to recover and had to be taken off the ground. Later, he was carried off in an ambulance. Pant was batting on 37 off 48 balls with two fours and one the day's play, the BCCI released a statement saying that Pant was under the observation of the Indian team's medical had scored 37 runs off 48 balls, including two fours and a six, before retiring ended Day 1 at 264 for 4, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan both scoring fifties.- EndsTune InMust Watch
