Pas Youth: 'We weren't invited to cross-party meeting with Muhyiddin'
KOTA BHARU: Pas Youth has confirmed that it was neither invited to nor aware of the cross-party meeting with Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday. Pas Youth Chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden said he had no information about the meeting, but believed the party's top leadership might have been informed. "I have no details about the meeting, perhaps the information is with the top party leadership, but not at the (Pas) Youth level. "I don't know anything about it. "I'm not sure what actually took place during the meeting, but I feel that if AS (Amanah Sahabat) was present, it would have strengthened the discussion. "If Pas had been invited, I believe we would have attended. "Nevertheless, I regard it as a good meeting, one that contributes to strengthening the opposition, crossing party and political lines. "I believe Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) is playing his role as PN chairman," he said at a press conference after launching the Kelantan Pas Youth Annual General Assembly here today. Yesterday, Muhyiddin reportedly held a meeting with leaders of non-government (opposition) parties to discuss the proposal of forming a cross-party alliance among opposition parties. Among the party leaders present were Muda acting president Amira Aisya and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) deputy chairman S. Arutchelvan. Also present were Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai, Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP) president Punithan Paramsiven, Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Putra president Datuk Dr Ibrahim Ali. Others included PPP Youth Chief Sathiah Sudakaran, Berjasa president Zamani Ibrahim, Urimai president Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, and MAP president P. Waytha Moorthy. However, Pas representatives were not listed among the attendees despite the party being a key component of PN.

Gay party raid: ‘Shameful it happened in Kelantan'
He urged the Kelantan government to be allowed to formulate stricter laws without interference to stop such acts from taking root. Pas Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari. Bernama FILE PIX SHAH ALAM - Pas Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has described the recent police raid on a gay party in Kelantan as deeply shameful, particularly as the state is known as the 'Verandah of Mecca'. Taking to Facebook, Ahmad Fadhli stressed that it is shameful because it happened in Kelantan. 'If it had taken place in Kuala Lumpur, such as the raid on Blue Boy Club in August 2018 or the LGBT Halloween party in October 2022, in Johor Bahru like the same-sex party in February 2023 or even in Penang such as the sex party in a condominium unit in June 2022 where police found condoms, lubricants and ketamine drugs, of course it would not be seen as shameful. "In fact, those are considered normal, but when it happens in Kelantan, then it is said to be disgraceful,' he wrote. On Thursday, Kelantan police confirmed that a raid had been conducted on a gay gathering involving over 100 men aged between 20 and 30. The event took place at a bungalow in Kemumin in mid-June and was disrupted at around 1am following public tip-offs and surveillance by a special police team. Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat led the operation, which was part of ongoing efforts to crack down on immoral activities in the state. Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat. Photo by Bernama Fadhli, who is also the Pasir Mas Member of Parliament (MP), praised the firm action taken by the authorities, saying it upheld the honour of the state. He urged the Kelantan government to be allowed to formulate stricter laws without interference to stop such acts from taking root. 'This effort deserves praise and should be continued until this deviant culture is eradicated from Kelantan. We hope the police remain consistent, combating this culture down to its roots. 'For the record, the Federal Court on 25 February 2021, for instance, had annulled a provision in the Kelantan Syariah Enactment related to the ban on men dressing like women on the grounds that it overlapped with Federal law. 'Therefore, Kelantan needs to explore what other avenues can be taken to create stricter laws that are still in line with the Federal Constitution,' he said.

Putrajaya PKR files police report against Opposition portal over anti-PM rally
PETALING JAYA: Putrajaya PKR has filed a police report against a statement published by Harakahdaily on June 10, which announced a planned rally titled 'Himpunan Turun Anwar' scheduled for July 26. The report was lodged on Tuesday (July 15) by Putrajaya PKR deputy chief Sharif Jeev Abdullah, alongside division information chief Mohd Hafiz Osman and special tasks bureau chief Mohd Noor Arizam Arep. According to Sharif, the rally was publicised by Pas Youth chief and Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, who claimed the gathering would serve as a manifestation of public loss of confidence in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership. Sharif said the announcement also contained serious allegations that could undermine the integrity of key national institutions, including the judiciary, civil service and Parliament. 'Putrajaya PKR views this planned rally as an attempt to incite the public, sow hatred towards the government and potentially disrupt public order and the parliamentary democratic process which forms the foundation of national stability,' he said in a statement. He stressed that any form of provocative assembly with seditious undertones or aimed at pressuring the government through street demonstrations was irresponsible and a threat to national security and constitutional integrity. Sharif also urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the planned rally and related statements, under existing legal provisions such as Section 124B of the Penal Code or any other applicable laws. 'We call on all Malaysians not to be swayed by efforts that could trigger political unrest or jeopardise the nation's stability. 'Democracy must be defended through legitimate, civil and constitutional channels,' he said.
