Matthew Stafford speaks publicly on Rams return for first time: 'Excited to be back'
Matthew Stafford speaks publicly on Rams return for first time: 'Excited to be back' Stafford said he hopes to be in the LA community "for a long time" The Los Angeles Rams handled their biggest order of business this offseason when they agreed to a new contract with Matthew Stafford that will keep him under center for the 2025 season. The team flirted with trading him when contract negotiations seemed to stall, but they ultimately got a deal done to keep their Super Bowl window wide open. Sean McVay and Les Snead have both shared their excitement about continuing their partnership with Stafford, and now the quarterback has spoken publicly about his return, too. After surprising the Pasadena High School football team with new uniforms at a banquet on Wednesday, Stafford briefly talked about staying with the Rams. Like McVay and Snead, he's happy to stay with the Rams and keep building on what he's already built in L.A. 'I'm excited to be back,' Stafford said via Adam Grosbard of the Los Angeles Daily News. 'I'm excited to be able to do things like this in a community that I've been in for four years now and hopefully will continue to be in for a long time. I'm definitely excited for the opportunity not only to play and do all that but to get involved and really start figuring out places and things I can do to give back.' Stafford didn't have any years added to his contract and it's not an entirely new deal, but rather a reworked contract for the 2025 season. McVay said he expects the Rams and Stafford to discuss his deal again in 2026, taking it year by year with the veteran quarterback. It remains to be seen how long Stafford will play in the NFL and whether he'll finish his career with the Rams, but he sure sounds happy to be staying in L.A. – and wants to remain there for 'a long time.'

Watch: Matthew Stafford surprises LA high school impacted by wildfires with new football uniforms
Watch: Matthew Stafford surprises LA high school impacted by wildfires with new football uniforms Matthew Stafford will be back with the Los Angeles Rams in 2025, which is exciting for both the team and its fans. Stafford has been excellent on the field in the last four years but he's also been impactful in the community. He continued to give back this week when he visited Pasadena High School and surprised the football team with new uniforms for the 2025 season. The school was affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles, so the Stafford family wanted to help the football team out with a kind gesture. After Stafford announced his donation, the room erupted in excitement. Team reporter Stu Jackson noted that Stafford stuck around afterwards and talked to everyone on the team, from players to support staff, and also took photos with them. Stafford said he's "excited to be back" with the Rams after agreeing to a new contract, not only to continue chasing a Super Bowl, but also to keep helping out in the community with gestures like this one. He hasn't won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award yet, but he should certainly be a candidate with all the philanthropic work he does in Los Angeles and even back in Detroit.

Matthew Stafford is happy to be staying in Los Angeles. 'I'm excited to be back,' Stafford said Wednesday night. 'Just happy to be able to do those kinds of things, and it's fun to be around a bunch of young guys that love playing the game and love playing together.' Stafford, 37, declined to answer questions about the specifics of a two-month drama that reportedly had teams such as the New York Giants and the Las Vegas Raiders interested in trading for him. Stafford has two years left on the extension he signed in 2022 after leading the Rams to victory in Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium. Last season, the Rams and Stafford were at an impasse for months before the team adjusted his contract hours after the rest of the team reported for the first day of training camp. This year, the Rams and Stafford's agent did not let the issue linger. Stafford was due to earn a below-market $27 million in salary, but the situation was resolved last Friday. Terms of the adjustment have not yet been made public. Steve Carell joins nonprofit for Altadena, Pasadena prom ticket giveaway
Actor Steve Carell announced to Altadena and Pasadena high school students this week that their prom tickets are paid for, thanks to a nonprofit donation. Alice's Kids, a Virginia-based nonprofit that helps children in need with extras, like back-to-school clothes, summer camp, instrument rentals, and more, provided the donation, with celebrity support from "The Office" star. Through video, Carell delivered the good news to students at six high schools in the Altadena and Pasadena areas. Today, about 800 seniors at 6 high schools in Altadena will see this message from our friend, Steve Carell. He's delivering the news that we are paying for their prom tickets! — Alice's Kids (@alicewillhelp) March 4, 2025 "Attention, attention all seniors, this is Steve Carrell with a very special announcement." That announcement was a $175,000 donation for 800 students to go to their school prom, an expense that may be difficult for families to incur, especially after the Eaton Fire. "I work with a very special charity out of Virginia called Alice's Kids, and Alice's Kids wanted me to let you know that they will be paying for all of your prom tickets, and if you have already paid for your prom tickets, they will reimburse you for your prom tickets," his announcement continued. The charity issued the donation in response to the financial pressures many families affected by the wildfires are facing. "Going to prom should be a celebration, and we wanted to help make the big night just a little easier for seniors whose lives have been turned upside down by the wildfires," said Ron Fitzsimmons, executive director of Alice's Kids. "Senior year is a turning point, and hopefully this allows the students to unwind and have some fun after a devasting year." Students across six schools benefitted from the donation, Marshall Fundamental Secondary School, Pasadena High School, Aveson Charter School, John Muir High School, Rose City High School, and Blair High School.
