Watch: Matthew Stafford surprises LA high school impacted by wildfires with new football uniforms
Matthew Stafford will be back with the Los Angeles Rams in 2025, which is exciting for both the team and its fans. Stafford has been excellent on the field in the last four years but he's also been impactful in the community.
He continued to give back this week when he visited Pasadena High School and surprised the football team with new uniforms for the 2025 season. The school was affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles, so the Stafford family wanted to help the football team out with a kind gesture.
After Stafford announced his donation, the room erupted in excitement.
Team reporter Stu Jackson noted that Stafford stuck around afterwards and talked to everyone on the team, from players to support staff, and also took photos with them.
Stafford said he's "excited to be back" with the Rams after agreeing to a new contract, not only to continue chasing a Super Bowl, but also to keep helping out in the community with gestures like this one.
He hasn't won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award yet, but he should certainly be a candidate with all the philanthropic work he does in Los Angeles and even back in Detroit.

Rams' top 'defensive triplets' rank poorly in Sports Illustrated list

Rams' top 'defensive triplets' rank poorly in Sports Illustrated list The Los Angeles Rams defense came on strong at the end of the 2024 NFL season but very much remains a work in progress. The defensive front is sound, but the linebackers and secondary units leave much to be desired, especially heading into 2025. Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano ranked every team's "defensive triplets," which means their top pass rusher, inside linebacker and defensive back. The Rams' group of Jared Verse, Omar Speights and Kamren Kinchens ranked No. 23 on the list. "Verse established himself as one of the top edge rushers in the NFL after running away with the Defensive Rookie of the Year award," Manzano wrote. "The Rams are loaded with pass rushers, but they have a thin group at inside linebacker and cornerback. Perhaps the team's solid safety rotation can pick up the slack in the back end." This aligns pretty closely with the Rams' biggest remaining needs at inside linebacker and secondary. The linebacker corps is young (Speights and 2025 fifth-round rookie Chris Paul Jr.) or unproductive (Troy Reeder and Nate Landman), while the secondary is relatively mediocre overall. There is a lot of room for improvement among both units, but neither are among the best in the NFL could be to the team's detriment if they can't get better in 2025.

Tyler Higbee shares his thoughts on the Rams' TE room in 2025

Tyler Higbee shares his thoughts on the Rams' TE room in 2025 The Los Angeles Rams have a crowded tight end room in 2025. Not only is Tyler Higbee fully recovered from the 2023 ACL injury that sidelined him for most of the 2024 season, but the Rams also drafted Terrance Ferguson with the No. 46 overall pick. Backups Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen round out the positional group. While Higbee is poised to be the team's Week 1 starter, the veteran recognized how much deeper the group is than in year's past. 'It's honestly one of the best I've been a part of, I think, since I've been here," Higbee said during an interview with the team website this week. "Just top to bottom, we've got a lot of depth. I think it might allow us to do some things, get some more 12 [personnel] on the field.' He didn't directly address the elephant in the room, though, that Ferguson could supplant him at any point in the season. Ferguson is 10 years younger than Higbee, doesn't have a serious injury history and is almost identical in size. The two could certainly add different layers to the offense (the 12 personnel grouping Higbee mentioned, for one), but Sean McVay will eventually want to incorporate Ferguson into the offense more and more. That could be phasing Higbee out sooner rather than later.

Ex-Patriots WR saw Stefon Diggs at OTAs and forgot about boat incident

Ex-Patriots WR saw Stefon Diggs at OTAs and forgot about boat incident Former New England Patriots two-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver Chris Hogan completely forgot about the boat incident after seeing Stefon Diggs practice for the first time at open OTAs on Monday. Granted, Diggs was a limited participant on the field, but he was seen running routes, cutting and catching passes. It was an impressive showing considering he's less than eight months removed from an ACL injury. Throw in the fact that he's 31 years old, and it's obvious that Diggs is a rare athlete. Some wondered if the Patriots would consider cutting Diggs after a video of him passing out a clear package with an unknown pink substance in it went viral at a boat party over Memorial Day weekend. However, the Patriots are all in on the four-time Pro Bowl receiver. Hogan is, too, after seeing him in action. "I've already forgotten about the boat video after watching that. I thought [Diggs] looked great," Hogan said on The Patriots Report with Price & Hogan. "It's earlier, I think, than most people expected coming back from an ACL injury. I love the way that he's looking running routes and cutting." The Patriots are hopeful that Diggs will be ready by the start of the season, even if he ends up missing time at training camp. He looks to be ahead of schedule just by the eye test. Quarterback Drake Maye might soon be throwing to his new No. 1 target in a competitive setting. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.
