This travel-friendly stick gives instant ‘glass skin' says our beauty editor

If you're after radiant skin and defined cheekbones in a flash, our beauty editor thinks she's found just the thing: an easy-to-use highlighter stick from a celebrity's beauty brand It seems everyone is after 'glass skin' at the moment – that dewy, light reflective sheen to the skin, especially on the high points of the face, that's universally flattering and youthful. And if you don't know where to start to achieve this, or the thought of applying lots of layers of skincare puts you off, I think I've found the solution. I've never been a big fan of highlighter powders, but I've recently come across Haus Labs by Lady Gaga's Bio Radiant Highlighter Balm, and it's a total game-changer. This handy crayon-like sticks come in six flattering shades, are super-easy to use, and instantly illuminate the skin in such a flattering way. Priced at £30 and available from Sephora, these Bio Radiant Highlighter Balm couldn't be easier to use: simply draw on over or under make-up where required (I like putting them on the tops of my cheekbones and brow bones), then blend slightly with fingers. They can also be used on the eyelids; the tinted shades in particular look lovely on the lids. My favourite shade is the transparent Pure Glass, which doesn't add any shimmer or colour, but instead just a lovely luminous glazed look that instantly improves my face in seconds. It's very similar to the clear end of Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Highlighter and Balm Duo, £50, or Chanel's Baume Essential in Transparent, £38, and if you've always been a bit scared of using highlighter, this is a great place to start; you really can't got wrong. Despite initially thinking it wouldn't suit me, I also really like the Haus Labs Highlighter Balm in Champagne Quartz, and would use this when doing more of a 'done' make-up look. I've been really impressed with Haus Labs since trying its viral B Structural Volumizing + Lengthening Mascara, £27, which is the most lengthening mascara I've ever tried – in just a few swipes this mascara had my lashes visibly nearly reaching my eyebrows. It also gives dramatic volume – no natural fluffiness here, this is for full-on, spiders'-legs lashes. For other cheaper alternatives of cream highlighters, you could try Glossier Haloscope Dew Effect Highlighter, £22, the mini version of the Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer, £15, or L'Oréal Paris Lumi Le Glass Stick, currently £8.99.

How to Look Like Yourself on Your Wedding Day

As couples embrace more authentic wedding styles, brides are following suit with fresh-faced makeup that enhances their natural features. Taking cues from celebrity brides like Sofia Richie and Vanessa Hudgens, brides are opting for barely there makeup over the heavily contoured looks that once defined wedding day beauty. 'You don't want your makeup to look dated in your wedding photos,' said Lisa Eldridge, London-based celebrity makeup artist and founder of Lisa Eldridge Beauty. 'When I see photos of someone like Grace Kelly on her wedding day, I think it could have been yesterday.' Five celebrity makeup artists share some of their go-to makeup products and tips to help you achieve the perfect glow on your wedding day. Lisa Eldridge 'Your wedding day look should be whatever makes you feel the most beautiful,' Ms. Eldridge said. 'Also keep in mind that less is more when it comes to makeup application, especially when dealing with perceived problem areas, such as blemishes or patches of redness. Use light, targeted application on the areas with minimal product to keep your makeup looking as natural as possible.' 'This medium-coverage foundation is clinically proven to last for a minimum of 12 hours and photographs beautifully. These types of formulations can sometimes be a little more drying to last all day, so you may need to compensate by adding more moisturizer beforehand and using less setting powder than normal.' 'I always keep this French pharmacy moisturizer in my kit. It's a makeup artist's favorite for a reason — it's inexpensive and works really well as a primer for makeup. I like using it on skin that is drier or if the bride is getting married in a cold climate.' 'Smudge-proof, waterproof mascara is a must for all of those happy tears. This mascara's flexible formula prevents flaking or running. It's also buildable for fluffy, fanned-out lashes.' Pat McGrath New York-based celebrity makeup artist, founder of Pat McGrath Labs and the creative director for Louis Vuitton's new beauty brand 'Brides are embracing lit-from-within complexions with glowing skin, neutral and rosy tones on the eyes and lips and an overall look that feels refined, yet romantic,' Ms. McGrath said. 'To achieve this, avoid techniques or products that can overpower your face, such as heavy contouring, overly drawing eyebrows or using ultra-matte finishes, which can look flat in natural light and photos. Opt for more light-handed makeup applications and breathable, long-wearing formulations.' 'I always begin makeup application with this essence to hydrate and prep skin for a smooth base and radiant finish. It's a lightweight emulsion formulated with floral antioxidants that protect and calm skin.' 'Layering your base is key for luminous skin that looks as stunning in person as in photos. This set includes a makeup primer, lightweight foundation and setting powder to create a flawless complexion. If you're using concealer to cover imperfections, such as dark circles under the eyes and blemishes, apply small amounts before foundation.' 'I swear by this budge-proof, creamy lipstick. It offers intense color and stays put through every kiss and dinner course without feeling dry. Line lips to define and shape before applying lip color. Then, add a layer of lip gloss over the lipstick to create dimension. Avoid anything too glossy or slippery, as it won't provide the longevity needed for a big day.' Cyndle Komarovski Celebrity makeup artist and Chanel beauty ambassador based in New York City 'Overly glammed makeup looks have become less popular as more brides seek to feel comfortable and genuine on their wedding day. While dramatic looks have their place, the shift toward more intimate and intentional celebrations has encouraged a preference for makeup that feels fresh, light, and natural,' Ms. Komarovski said. 'This is one of my go-to formulations for lips at the moment. It lives up to what it promises —hydrating, buildable color. It feels incredibly comfortable throughout the day and adds just the right amount of color without looking overly 'lipsticky'.' 'I'm loving soft and delicate eye makeup in neutral shades with a subtle shimmer to enhance the eye shape. This cream eye shadow is easy to use and the shade in 'Undertone' is a great base that works well on all skin tones and looks beautiful either alone or layered.' 'I go for this light-to-medium coverage foundation because it's very buildable, but allows your skin to shine through. After applying, add a touch of cream highlighter on the cheekbones, brow bones and the bridge of the nose to accentuate your features.' Mary Wiles Celebrity makeup artist based in New York City 'Even if you don't normally wear much makeup, having a good foundation base and softly defined brows, eyes and lips will make you look polished on your wedding day and enhance your natural features in photos,' Ms. Wiles said. 'Makeup formulations have come a long way since I started in the early '90s, which is great for weddings and long-wear products. Lips stains are perfect for longevity. Apply a lip liner first then add a little gloss on top of the stain to the center of your lips if you want some shine.' 'Some long-lasting cheek colors can get dry or waxy, but I like the lightweight formulation of this liquid blush that melts into your skin.' 'I prefer very fine-point gel eyeliners for smooth and precise application. This waterproof liner stays in place with without smudging or fading and it's buildable for more definition.' Misha Shahzada Celebrity makeup artist based in New York City 'A flawless complexion is the basis of every bridal makeup look and always remains a top trend. While the rest of the look can be tailored to highlight your unique features, such as your eyes or cheekbones, the key is to keep the overall style timeless, as your photos will be cherished forever,' Ms. Shahzada said. 'For a flawless yet breathable finish, apply a lightweight moisturizer under this foundation stick. I like how it provides impressive coverage and a naturally dewy glow while maintaining hydration.' 'This primer ingeniously creates a smooth, shine-free base, while strategically adding glow to the high points of your face, such as your nose and cheekbones, and prevents an overly matte or greasy finish.' 'This eye primer not only locks in eye shadow, but also has a correcting tint to enhance color payoff and controls oil throughout the day.'

Louis Vuitton enters makeup world with Pat McGrath: Here's what to expect

‭ ‬ If you're a beauty enthusiast‭, ‬you've likely come across Pat McGrath Labs‭. ‬If not‭, ‬it's understandable‭, ‬given that McGrath shies away from heavy marketing or citywide pop-ups like many beauty brands‭. ‬Instead‭, ‬her reputation alone propels her brand‭. ‬Launched in 2015‭, ‬Pat McGrath Labs quickly rose to fame for its high quality products and bold‭, ‬creative aesthetics‭, ‬celebrated for their rich pigmentation and longevity‭. ‬ For the past 20‭ ‬years‭, ‬life has been hectic for McGrath juggling three main responsibilities‭ ‬—‭ ‬her eponymous brand PatMcGrath Labs‭, ‬creating backstage beauty looks for fashion weeks‭, ‬and formulating beauty lines for equally well known luxury labels such as Armani‭, ‬Dolce‭ & ‬Gabbana‭, ‬and Gucci Beauty‭. ‬ It's great and much-awaited news for the beauty industry and beauty consumers to hear that French couturier Louis Vuitton is launching its first‭, ‬much anticipated venture into make-up‭ ‬–‭ ‬La Beauté Louis Vuitton‭ ‬–‭ ‬with McGrath at the helm‭. ‬Stepping into the newly-created role of creative director of cosmetics at the house‭, ‬McGrath has been‭ ‬working on this special launch for the past four years‭. ‬In a dialogue between Nicholas Ghesquière and McGrath‭, ‬she reveals that‭ ‬her love for make-up was ignited by her mum‭, ‬'This starts for me as a child‭. ‬My mum would force me to go and shop for make-up with her‭. ‬We had a routine and it ended up being‭ ‬what I love doing‭. ‬We'd start by looking at the‭ ‬Vogue‭ ‬patterns‭. ‬I'd have to go and look at all the patterns with her‮…‬‭ ‬I was crying‭, ‬I didn't want to do it‭.‬'‭ ‬she continues‭. ‬'So my whole life was this‭. ‬Every week‭. ‬Going to look at the patterns‭, ‬going to look for the right fabric‭, ‬going to look for the‭ ‬makeup‭. ‬And most importantly‭, ‬looking for pigments that were right for our skin colour‭. ‬I was the youngest one and had to do it‭.‬‭ ‬Back then there were not too many pigments‭, ‬they didn't exist‭.‬'‭ ‬she continues‭. ‬'My whole room‭, ‬wardrobe and eventually life became a mood board‭. ‬I have been doing this since I was five‭. ‬Now this is my safe space‭.‬'‭ ‬ Pat McGrath's ascent to becoming a dame is not just about her skill with a makeup brush but also her strategic collaborations that have redefined fashion runways and broadened the horizons of beauty‭. (‬She is also the only makeup artist to have received the title of‭ ‬'Dame'‭ ‬from the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2021‭.) ‬Among her most famous collaborations‭, ‬her work with Prada stands out‭. ‬McGrath has been the key makeup artist for Prada's runway shows for many years‭, ‬setting beauty trends that resonate well beyond the fashion elite‭. ‬Her ability to create looks that complement Prada's aesthetic while pushing the boundaries of mainstream makeup has been nothing short of revolutionary‭. ‬ Answering the obvious question‭, ‬can both the brands co-exist‭? ‬Pat reveals in a global exclusive to Vogue‭, ‬'Of course‭! ‬La Beauté Louis Vuitton is the absolute highest level of craftsmanship‭. ‬With product development‭, ‬I have always been‭ ‬obsessed with the smallest details and the perfection needed in product texture‭... ‬the precise application methods‭, ‬just the right amount of pigment payoff‭, ‬and how products should make you feel‭,‬'‭ ‬she says‭. ‬ 'Pushing boundaries in formula innovation and sensory exploration is part of my own brand's DNA‭. ‬It can really lead to groundbreaking results and this new venture is no different‭.‬'‭ ‬ Louis Vuitton may not have a beauty and skincare line as of now‭, ‬but it launched the perfume line‭, ‬'Les Parfums Louis Vuitton'‭ ‬in September 2016‭. ‬This marked the brand's significant entry into the fragrance market under the expertise of master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud‭. ‬The launch reintroduced Louis Vuitton into the perfume industry after a long hiatus‭, ‬with the brand having released its last scent in the early 20th century‭. ‬The 2016‭ ‬collection featured a range of seven fragrances‭, ‬each designed to convey a journey and evoke emotions related to travel and exploration‭, ‬themes deeply ingrained in Louis Vuitton's heritage‭. ‬ Creating collectibles‭ ‬ Set to debut in 115‭ ‬stores globally‭, ‬La Beauté Louis Vuitton will redefine luxury beauty standards‭. ‬For those of us who cherish‭ ‬every detail in our makeup‭, ‬from the pigment to the packaging‭, ‬this launch is not just exciting‭ ‬—‭ ‬it is said to be monumental‭. ‬As a fashion journalist witnessing this historic moment‭, ‬I can't help but feel that we're on the cusp of a new era in beauty‭, ‬where heritage will meet modern beauty expectations from its customers‭. ‬But what will truly set this launch apart are the bespoke leather goods designed to encase these beauties‭ ‬—‭ ‬lipstick cases and miniature trunks that echo the maison's iconic luggage pieces‭. ‬These aren't designed to be only makeup products‭; ‬they're collectibles‭, ‬each imbued with the history and artistry of Louis Vuitton‭. ‬ And while the exact shades and packaging have yet to be revealed‭, ‬McGrath lets us know that the LV signatures are very much present‭, ‬and they will go beyond being inspired by the house's iconic vanity cases and trunks‭. ‬'It's about the art of living‭,‬'‭ ‬she explains‭. ‬'It's the textures of the leathers‭, ‬the colours from the collections‭, ‬the codes of the house‭ ‬–‭ ‬these have all been springboards to the imagination and every detail has been considered with the same level of artistry as the‭ ‬maison's most legendary creations‭.‬'‭ ‬ It's safe to say that we can expect to cherish each piece as an heirloom‭, ‬just as we would a Louis Vuitton trunk‭, ‬a handbag or a piece from its ready-to-wear collection‭. ‬

Lids by LV? Louis Vuitton branches into beauty products, taps make-up star Pat McGrath

Louis Vuitton, the world's biggest fashion label, will begin selling beauty products this autumn. Advertisement It has tapped British make-up artist Pat McGrath to lead creative direction for the new venture, which expands its offer as the industry seeks new avenues of growth to offset a current slump. The move by the LVMH-owned label comes as the fashion industry, including LVMH, faces its slowest sales in years, struggling in particular to reignite interest from younger, inflation-weary shoppers. A number of high-end fashion houses including Hermès, Valentino and Celine, which is also owned by LVMH, have branched out in recent years into make-up, which – even at the high end, where lipsticks can cost over US$50 – is more affordable than fashion handbags that are priced upwards of US$1,000.
