Kirk Herbstreit Issues 'Warning' To Entire College Football World
Kirk Herbstreit Issues 'Warning' To Entire College Football World originally appeared on The Spun. ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has issued a "warning" to the rest of the college football world. Herbstreit, a top analyst for ESPN, believes that locker rooms could collapse if something isn't done about the future of college football. Too many players are transferring, too many players are making decisions based on strictly money and too many programs are seeing a ton of turnover every year. The ESPN college football analyst believes that at some point, locker rooms could collapse, if something isn't done to stabilize the sport moving forward. He's probably not wrong about that, either. Many college football coaches seem to agree with Herbstreit, too. 'I hate to say, I don't have faith because you have to have faith for anything to work. So, I have a lot of faith going in, but I'll let you know in a year. You know, the NCAA couldn't control it in the past. There's no control right now. So it's got to be better than nothing, right?' Pittsburgh head coach Pat Narduzzi said. Many head coaches are just pushing for more consistency across the sport when it comes to controlling what's happening. Wake Forest head coach Jake Dickert is part of that group, too. 'We've got to decide if we want Major League Baseball or if we want the NFL. Major League Baseball has some teams with $250 million [payrolls] and some teams playing Moneyball at $40 million,' Dickert said. 'Or do we want a hard salary cap like the NFL, and who's doing the best with their resources? You know, the NFL doesn't have GoFundMe for free agents, right? They don't; they play with a certain set of rules.' College football is working on solutions, following the NCAA vs. House settlement, but time will tell if it's enough. ACC Coach Predicts Bill Belichick Will Reach Conference Championship
ACC Coach Predicts Bill Belichick Will Reach Conference Championship originally appeared on The Spun. Bill Belichick has been the talk of the ACC since taking the job at North Carolina last December and many are eagerly awaiting his UNC debut — including his fellow coaches. Speaking to reporters at the ACC Kickoff on Wednesday, Pittsburgh's Pat Narduzzi spoke on his expectations for the six-time Super Bowl champ in his first year and it sounds like they're pretty high. "I'll be shocked if he doesn't have success," Narduzzi said. "I don't have a crystal ball. I'm no genius over here, but he's a heck of a football coach. But it takes players and it takes coaches. It takes a program together. It takes everybody moving in the same direction." "I expect them to be in the championship game against Pitt this year. You got Bill Belichick, you better be, right?" the coach added. Finding success in the ACC in Year 1 could be a challenge. But if anyone's up for it, it's Bill Belichick. Despite all the noise surrounding his personal relationship with Jordon Hudson this offseason, the 73-year-old seems singularly focused on getting the Heels back to their winning ways on the football field. North Carolina has a schedule that bodes pretty well for a potential College Football Playoff appearance now that its expanded to 12 teams. The Tar Heels face their first test with a home game vs. TCU on Sept. Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi jokes that he expects to play North Carolina and Bill Belichick in the ACC title game
Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi is setting high expectations for Bill Belichick's North Carolina tenure. Narduzzi complimented Belichick's career on Wednesday at ACC media day and joked that he expected to face the Tar Heels for a spot in the College Football Playoff at the end of the season. 'I'll be shocked if he doesn't have success,' Narduzzi said of Belichick. 'I don't have a crystal ball, I'm no genius over here. He's a heck of a football coach. But it takes players and it takes coaches. It takes a program together, it takes everyone moving in the same direction … I expect them to be in the [ACC] championship game against Pitt this year.' Belichick was hired ahead of the 2025 season after North Carolina parted ways with Mack Brown. It's the first college coaching job for the former New England Patriots coach after he had spent the entirety of his career in the NFL. The Tar Heels went 6-7 in 2024 after losing their bowl game and haven't won an ACC title since 1980. Pitt, meanwhile, won the 2021 ACC title with Kenny Pickett under center. Neither team is a favorite to win the conference in 2025. Pitt started the season 7-0 — and beat North Carolina 34-24 in that stretch — but lost its last five games of the season before losing the GameAbove Sports Bowl in six overtimes to Toledo. UNC's odds to make the ACC title game are +1000 at BetMGM while Pitt's are +1600. Clemson is -175 to appear in the title game, while Miami is favored to be the Tigers' opponent at +125. The Belichick question in Narduzzi's media scrum wasn't the only one Narduzzi fielded on Wednesday. He was even asked about Belichick at the end of his main news conference and had a question back for the reporter who made the Belichick inquiry. "Is this a Pitt question, or is this a North Carolina question? Bill Belichick, one of the greatest coaches to ever coach the game," Narduzzi said. "Won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. I've enjoyed conversations with him, whether it be at Amelia Island or in Zoom calls with ACC coaches. He's a tremendous football coach, really smart. "Again, he adds a lot of flavor and excitement to the ACC. When you look at Bill Belichick coming to the Atlantic Coast Conference, it just tells you how attractive our conference is."

Pitt Football Preview 2025: Make-or-Break Year for the Panthers
X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFNPitt Offense BreakdownPitt Defense BreakdownSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to SeasonThe 0-6 finish by Pitt was bad, but at least it doesn't have the Steelers' quarterback problem.(The college team will start the season with the best quarterback in the city at any level - that's a half joke, but Eli Holstein is a good one.)It's a make-or-break year for every college football head coach - you're one three-game losing streak away from being on a hot seat. But this really is a season when Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi needs to pull a full-grown rabbit out of his hat. The GameAbove Sports Bowl loss to Toledo, and how that shook out with the various decisions that didn't work, would've been enough to put just about any coach on Triple Open-Sourced Probation, but he always seems to come through when there's trouble went 42-34 in his first six seasons. The only bowl win was against Eastern Michigan, and nothing was happening, and then … kaboom. The 2021 team won the ACC Championship, it would've been in an expanded 12-team playoff, and the breakthrough was followed up by a strong 9-4 then he and the Panthers went 10-15 over the last two seasons. Worse yet, after a 7-0 start, highlighted by a takeaway-fest over Syracuse, everything fell apart after a blowout loss to SMU. Pitt lost its final six games - to be fair, the schedule was nasty, playing nine bowl teams in the final 11 games - helped by a slew of injuries. There was a power outage on offense, the defense couldn't stop anyone, and it should all pay off this didn't do much through the transfer portal, because he didn't need to. The team is built up with home grown experience, there's a great quarterback in place to get fired up about, and …This had better be a strong year for the Panthers - and it should Offense BreakdownPitt Defense BreakdownSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season © 2025 The Arena Group Holdings, Inc.
