For Sale: 1 Of 2 Tesla-Built Freightliner EV Van
Read the full story on Backfire News We find some of the most bizarre vehicles listed for sale online randomly, like this one-of-two Tesla-built Freightliner EV van. The seller is asking a big sum of money for the prototype build and we wonder if someone who just loves Tesla won't be willing to shell out for the thing see, the all-electric commercial van isn't running. The seller is very upfront about this fact, saying it's not running and he's not sure why. All he knows is the batteries aren't showing up on the gauges in the dash. Someone who's adventurous and either knows how to fix EVs or has plenty of cash to hire someone else to fix an experimental EV might be willing to take the plunge here. Either way, that person would need a lot of cash, because the asking price on this van is $60,000. That's a lot for what's kind of like an odd-looking UPS truck. But the fact there are only two in existence might make it compelling enough. If you disagree, the seller says he's firm on price, so he must feel there's someone out there who sees that level of value in the vehicle. The guy even says he believes it's worth two to three times as much, but we guess since it's not running he's willing to let it go for a deal. Interestingly enough, the front end kind of looks like the Tesla Semi, so that adds to its historical significance further. Maybe a museum would want to put this on display? Or an EV repair shop could use it for marketing? This was about the last thing we would've expected to see listed online, but we see bizarre things all the time, so the unexpected is to be expected at this point. Check out this vehicle's listing for yourself here. Images via Paul Salas/Facebook Marketplace
