Three-day ‘Pavitrotsavams' commences in Tirumala
The three-day annual 'Pavitrotsavams' took off to a religious start at the temple of Lord Venkiateswara in Tirumala. On the first day on Tuesday, the priests ceremoniously carried out 'Pavitra Pratista' followed by other rituals. Earlier, the 'Snapana Thirumanjanam' (celestial bath) was carried out to the processional deities of Lord Malayappa and His two consorts with 'panchamrutas' amid chanting of vedic hymns at the Kalyanotsava mandapam inside the temple. Immense significance is attached to the annual event, in which the priests seek forgiveness for all the acts of omissions and commissions, committed knowingly or unknowingly, in the performance of the rituals. Both the senior and junior temple pontiffs, TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary and Deputy EO (temple) Lokanadham were among others present.
