New appeal launched a week after police officer seriously injured in crash
A fresh appeal for information has been launched a week after a police officer was seriously injured in a car crash in Buckinghamshire. Pc Christopher Miller sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital in a critical condition, after the incident on the B416 Bells Hill at around 10.20pm on May 22. Thames Valley Police carried out checks with drivers at the scene of the crash on Thursday to ask if they saw anything on the night of the incident. Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Will Crowther said: 'Last night we carried out checks with drivers on the B416 Bells Hill, a week on from the scene of the road traffic collision that left Pc Christopher Miller with life-threatening injuries. 'We spoke to a number of motorists travelling along the route to ask if they recall seeing anything on the evening of 22 May. 'I want to use this opportunity to continue to appeal to anyone who has information or footage from the area but is yet to contact the force to please come forward. 'The vehicle involved was a white BMW, which will have been damaged after the incident. 'We are keen to understand where the white BMW was before and after the incident, so if you saw the vehicle or anyone in the vehicle, please contact us. 'If you saw any other vehicles that caught your attention in the area that night we would also be keen to hear from you. 'If you have any information or footage from the area then please contact us via our website or by calling 101, quoting investigation number 43250252869. 'I appreciate that sometimes people don't want to speak directly to police. 'Therefore, if you want to remain anonymous you can still provide information via independent charity Crimestoppers. 'They have a website where you can leave information or you can call them on 0800 555 111.' Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs said: 'Thames Valley Police has been shocked by the news of Pc Christopher Miller being seriously injured while carrying out his duties as a police officer. 'Pc Miller's family continue to be supported by our specially trained family liaison officers. 'Everyone within the force is thinking of Pc Miller, his family and colleagues within our Roads Policing Unit. 'As a force, we continue to support each other through this difficult time.' Simranjit Kajla, 28, of Lydford Avenue, Slough, has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance. He appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on June 23. Three other people were arrested in connection with the crash. A 38-year-old man from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has been released on police bail until August 23. A 43-year-old man from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released under investigation. A 37-year-old woman from Slough, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released on police bail until August 25.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was seriously injured in a car crash in Buckinghamshire. Simranjit Kajla, of Lydford Avenue, Slough, appeared at Reading magistrates' court on Tuesday accused of attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance. He was remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on June 23, prosecutor Chad Echakowitz said after the hearing. Pc Christopher Miller, a Thames Valley Police officer, was seriously hurt after being hit by a car on the B416 Bells Hill in Stoke Poges at around 10.20pm on May 22. The officer, 38, has spent five years with the roads policing unit and has been in the police for 13 years, the force said. Three other people, all from Slough, were arrested in connection with the crash. A 38-year-old, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has been released on police bail until Aug 23. A man, 43, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, has been released under investigation. And a 37-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice, remains in custody.

Police officer fighting for his life after collision while on duty is named
A police officer fighting for his life in hospital after being seriously injured in a collision while on duty has been named by Thames Valley Police as Pc Christopher Miller. Four people have now been arrested in connection with the collision on the B416 Bells Hill in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, on Thursday night. Thames Valley Police said a white BMW did not stop in the incident and on Sunday afternoon confirmed that Pc Miller, 38, remained in a life-threatening condition in hospital. Two men, aged 28 and 38, both from Slough, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remain in custody. A third man, aged 43, also from Slough, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice and has since been released on police bail, officers said. The force confirmed on Sunday they had arrested a fourth person, a 37-year-old woman, from Slough, on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice. Speaking to reporters outside a police building in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, Detective Superintendent Will Crowther, said: 'On Thursday, one of our officers was seriously injured whilst simply doing his job. He is currently in hospital with life-threatening injuries. 'We are now in a position to confirm that the injured officer is Pc Christopher Miller from our Roads Policing Unit. 'The incident happened at around 10.20pm on Thursday May 22, on the B416 Bells Hill, Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire. 'The officer was involved in a collision with a white BMW vehicle, which did not stop at the scene. 'Christopher has sustained very serious injuries and remains in hospital in a critical condition. His family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers, as are his closest colleagues.' Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident and urge anyone who may have footage to come forward. 'We want to hear from anybody that witnessed a white BMW driving erratically in the areas of Stoke Poges and Slough between 8pm on Thursday evening until around 1am on the morning of Friday, May 23,' Det Supt Crowther said. 'We believe that after the collision the BMW will have sustained damage to the front of the car. 'If you saw the vehicle, we urge you to please check your dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage which may have captured something that could assist us with this investigation. 'We are conducting an extensive investigation and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice. 'I believe there are people out there that know who is responsible. Travelling on foot, he collided with a white BMW which failed to stop at the scene, the force has said. The officer has spent five years with the roads policing unit and has been in the police for 13 years. His family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers, as are his closest colleagues, with the investigation into the circumstances of the tragic incident being led by the force's Major Crime Department. Two men, aged 28 and 38, both from Slough have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remain in custody. A third man, aged 43, from Slough, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice and has been released on police bail. Today, a fourth person has been arrested, a 37-year-old woman, from Slough, on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice. She also remains in police custody. Issuing an urgent appeal for the public's assistance with the investigation, Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Will Crowther said: 'I am today issuing a public appeal for witnesses to come forward and share any information that may help out investigation. 'I would be particularly keen to hear from anybody who was in the area of Stoke Poges between 10pm on Thursday evening until around 1am on Friday morning (23/5) and may have seen this vehicle or witnessed the incident itself. 'I believe the BMW will have had front-end damage after the incident, and so if you saw the vehicle, either before the incident or afterwards, please contact us. 'I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage which could have captured anything that could help our investigation.' Meanwhile, David Moore, Conservative councillor for Farnhams and Stoke Poges, said the local community had been 'shaken' by the devastating collision which has left both residents and councillors 'appalled'. Councillor Moore added: 'I am deeply shocked and saddened to learn that one of our brave police officers is fighting for his life following this horrific incident. 'My thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones at this incredibly difficult time, and I wish him a full and swift recovery.
