Outlander's Sam Heughan finishes London Marathon in aid of cancer charity
Outlander star Sam Heughan has taken to social media to proudly show off his medal after completing the London Marathon this afternoon and raising almost £40,000 for charity. The Scots actor is the founder of My Peak Challenge (MPC), a movement 'dedicated to educating and inspiring its members to live healthier, happier, and more balanced lives while raising funds to change lives'. This year, MPC are raising money for charity Blood Cancer UK with their members, known as Peakers, setting themselves the challenge of running the London Marathon in a bid to raise cash for their 2025 charity partner. Among them was 44-year-old Sam, who successfully completed his sixth marathon in the streets of London today after crossing the 26.2m finish line. Taking to Instagram, the Dumfries born actor wrote: "Incredible day running through the streets of London! THANK YOU for all the support, wow London really shines in the sun! And boy did the sun shine…. "Special shout out to our @mypeakchallenge Cheer Zone, the huge Peaker online support, Hugo and Lisa and the whole @bloodcancer_uk team for cheering and welcoming us at the finish line with snacks, water and smiles. So proud, we have raised almost £40,000 to help fund and raise #bloodcancerawareness. Thank you!" He added: "Oh and got a high from fellow Scot @gordongram on the course too!" The iconic Hell's Kitchen chef, Gordon Ramsay, who has previously ran the marathon himself, was there today supporting his two children, Megan and Jack. He took to Instagram this morning to share a sweet picture of his son and daughter as young kids as he wrote: "Best of luck to Meg, Jack and all the other runners today for the London Marathon!! Big thank you to all the volunteers, we can't wait to support and cheer everyone on - see you there!" Meanwhile, Sam delighted fans with a series of snaps from throughout the big day. Among them were pictures of him beaming beside charity members in Blood Cancer UK t-shirts with his medal round his neck and other selfies of him proudly holding up his award after crossing the finish line. Fans can still donate as Sam has shared his Just Giving page on Instagram with a total of £39,242 being raised so far. The page states: "In honour of 10 years of My Peak Challenge, Sam is running the London Marathon 2025 - and he's dedicating every mile to Blood Cancer UK, our official charity partner for this milestone year. "This run is about more than just crossing a finish line. It's about pushing limits, celebrating resilience, and standing up for those impacted by blood cancer. Every mile Sam runs is a reminder that together we can turn challenges into change. "You can sponsor a mile to fuel Sam's run and help us raise life-changing funds for research, support, and hope. The page continues: "1 in 3 people don't survive their blood cancer and we lose them in the first five years after diagnosis. Too many people are dying from the most complex and aggressive forms of blood cancer - blood cancers that are the hardest to treat. "We believe it's possible to achieve significant shifts in survival, by making sure that all patients have access to the right drug at the right time. "Our focus on the hardest to treat blood cancers will accelerate progress towards our goal of radical improvements in outcomes for these patients and bring forward the day when we beat blood cancer." You can donate to Sam's page here.
