Outlander's Sam Heughan celebrates birthday by 'carbing up' for London Marathon
Outlander star Sam Heughan celebrated his 45th birthday a bit early this year as he prepares to run the London Marathon.
The Jamie Fraser actor took to Instagram to say that he was tucking into a meal prepared by Scots chef Tom Kitchin and 'carbing up' for the 42km run, which takes place next weekend.
And many fans flocked to the comments to wish the star a happy birthday.
One penned: "A meal fit for a king (of men)."
Another added: "Happy early birthday to you, my absolute favourite actor!! You have such a kind soul and you are such an amazing human being !! I wish you the best !! Send you love!!"
While one said: "(almost) 45 never looks so good! Looks delicious."
And one added: "Ahhh, The Kitchin! Soo yummy, especially the scallop! Mmm. Happy early Birthday, Sam!"
While another commented: "The big 45. Happy birthday."
Sam has been visiting The Kitchin in Leith for many years and even filmed an episode of Men in Kilts with his Outlander co-star Graham McTavish.
The pair were photographed with top chef and owner Tom Kitchin. The celebrity chef shared the moment on social media with the trio appearing to be having a lively discussion as they tucked into Scottish cuisine.
This isn't the first time the star has ran a marathon as he ran the Edinburgh marathon back in 2018.
Sam completed the course in aid of Cahonas Scotland and he crossed the finishing line after three hours and 12 minutes beating his personal best by one minute.
After completing the race, he posted on Instagram: "@edinburghmarathonfestival 3.12 beat my PB by 1min!!
"Thank you everyone for the support and delighted to help @CahonasScotland. Now can I lay down?"
Sam is no stranger to fitness and in 2017, Sam launched My Peak Challenge (MPC) - a movement "dedicated to educating and inspiring its members to live healthier, happier, and more balanced lives while raising funds to change lives".
In 2022, Sam raised whopping £590,000 for charity with the help of his organisation MPC. Fellow members - known as Peakers - set themselves a challenge, physical or otherwise, in a bid to raise cash.
Since the organisation began, they have raised around $6.9m (£5.8m) for a number of good causes including, Give Blood UK, Ocean Conservancy, Marie Curie, and many more. In 2022, Peakers raised over $711k (£592k) and planted 607,000 trees.

Taylor Swift's 12th album theories explained by superfans
Taylor Swift has revealed she is set to release her twelfth album, which will be titled The Life of a Showgirl. The 35-year-old iconic singer is fresh off the back of the Eras Tour where she performed across the globe in one of the most impressive and highly publicised music tours ever. While the singer only released her eleventh album, The Tortured Poets Department, last year, she has stunned fans by announcing a new album is imminent. Enlisting her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce, Swift teased her upcoming appearance on the brothers' mega-popular New Heights podcast with a clip announcing the album title. In the video, which was shared on Instagram at 12.12am ET on Tuesday, Taylor said: 'This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.' The cover art for the record remained obscured in the clip, but blurred images and clues suggest that a glittery orange will be the defining shade of this era, with Travis covered in golden confetti at the end of the clip. Travis exclaimed at the end of the snippet: 'TS12!' Fans have scrambled to work out some of the Easter eggs the star has dropped about the album so far, with a variety of plausible and completely far-fetched theories coming out of the woodwork. While the orange colour scheme of the album is all but confirmed now, it's a fun little addition for fans that adds to the excitement of the album's release. The Clean singer has hinted she has worked with Max Martin and Shellback on this album. Soon after the announcement landed, billboards appeared in New York and Nashville advertising the pop idol's new Spotify playlist, And, baby, that's show business for you. All 22 tracks are songs from her back catalogue produced by the two studio wizards, who she worked with on the albums Red, 1989, and Reputation, suggesting that they could be the makers of the new album. Additionally, the album features some of Taylor's most well-received pop hits, including 22, Blank Space, End Game, Style, Wildest Dreams, and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. The July 7th post from Sabrina showed a number of pastel-coloured underwear, and a bright orange pair of knickers – could this be related to the main colour in Swift's new aesthetic? She also captioned the post: 'Go put on some clothes!' The quote was famously featured in one of the sketches between the two artists during the Eras Tour. Gigi Hadid then commented on the post: 'But daddy I have nothing to wear ! !' Fans immediately speculated that this was linked to Swift's song But Daddy I Love Him, assuming Gigi had insider knowledge. 'WHAT DO U KNOW GIGI?,' said Hometoswift. Netflix reality dating show 'better than US' returns featuring Scots nanny

Love Is Blind UK will be back on screens tomorrow, Wednesday August 13, as a new batch of singles hope to find love. Appearing on the show, which is hosted by Matt and Emma Willis, is Scottish nanny and makeup artist Katisha Atkinson from Dumfries. Katisha, 31, is one of the 30 people who will be entering the pods looking for a soulmate sight unseen. Katisha, 31, is 'looking for a husband, not a boyfriend'. The eldest of seven children, she and her family moved 14 times when she was growing up and she's found the Dumfries dating scene difficult. After being single for six years, Katisha is starting to feel unlucky in love. Now, she's ready to branch out of her small hometown to connect with the 'right type of men' who are seeking long-term commitment and love.
