Its director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, said the seizure was made during a raid, carried out in collaboration with the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk), on a cooking oil packaging factory in the Jelapang Light Industrial Area near here at 2.30 pm yesterday. 'Following an inspection, it was found that the halal certification issued to the factory owner had been suspended due to a violation of the halal certification conditions,' he said in a statement today. Caution urged over donations for Ar-Ridzuan Mosque wakaf land
IPOH: Muslims in Perak have been urged to be cautious when making donations to reclaim part of the Ar-Ridzuan Jamek Mosque wakaf (endowment) land in Alor Pongsu, Bagan Serai, which is currently owned by a non-Muslim. Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said this is to prevent opportunistic individuals from taking advantage of the issue. 'This always happens – when someone collects donations in the name of charity, there will be others who try to exploit the situation and trap the donors. 'We hope the public will remain vigilant so that their intention to donate does not go to waste. For such donation matters, the responsible parties are the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) and the mosque committee itself,' he said. He told this to reporters after launching the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Supplementary Reference Book Initiative under the Cikgu Saarani Tuition Programme at Bangunan Darul Ridzuan here today. Earlier, it was reported that RM1.8 million is needed to recover a portion of the mosque's land, estimated at 0.61 hectares, which is owned by a non-Muslim individual. The land, previously endowed (wakaf) for the mosque's construction, had been sold off by the original wakaf giver's grandchild. However, the current owner has agreed to resell the land, prompting the state government to decide that Friday prayer donations from mosques across the state will be used to fund the repurchase. Meanwhile, Saarani expressed his appreciation for the financial contributions already made in support of the cause. On the programme, Saarani said a total of 52,000 sets of supplementary reference books covering six core subjects will be distributed free of charge to selected students throughout Perak. The six subjects are Bahasa Melayu, History, English, Mathematics, Islamic Education, and Science.

Channel donations for buying back of waqf land into proper account, says Perak MB
IPOH: Those wanting to support the effort of the state government to buy back part of the waqf land sold to a non-Muslim owner where a mosque stands in Alor Pongsu must ensure donations are channelled into a proper account, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. The Perak Mentri Besar said those making donations via QR codes must be cautious. 'The Perak Islamic Religious Department has sent official letters addressed to mosque chairpersons in the state on this. 'Donors can trace where their QR donations go before confirming the transaction. So, please don't donate blindly. Always check,' he told a press conference after a symbolic presentation of SPM additional reference books to five students at his office here Wednesday (May 7). He said this when asked about concerns about possible exploitation by irresponsible parties. Saarani said that with other charity efforts, for example Gaza or other causes, there would always be those who seek to exploit. 'For instance, with QR code donations, people must verify where their money is going. 'There is always the risk of donors being misled and their donations not reaching the intended mosque or purpose. 'I urge everyone to be cautious and verify before making any transfers,' he said. On Monday (May 5), Saarani had said that the state government plans to use Friday prayer donation collections from across Perak to buy back the land, which is estimated to be worth RM1.8mil. "The Ar-Ridzuan Jamek Mosque was built on waqf land, but the donor's grandchild sold part of it to another party. The land was then registered under the buyer's name, and a claim has now been made on it,' he said. Saarani had also said that land endowed for the benefit of Muslims, particularly for the construction of mosques, surau, and religious schools in the state, must be registered under the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council. He had said that this is an important step to prevent future ownership disputes involving the heirs of the original donor or other interested parties.
