Perak PMR to offer over 1,000 job opportunities and on-site interviews

KUALA LUMPUR: The Perak MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025, slated to take place from June 13 to 15 at Lumut Waterfront, will offer more than 1,000 job opportunities through the participation of 10 employers from various industries. According to Sapian Mamat, Head of Corporate Communications at the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) under the Prime Minister's Department, the initiative aims to connect youth and job seekers directly with potential employers through walk-in interviews conducted on-site. 'This is a golden opportunity for young people who are actively seeking employment. So, we encourage them to come to PMR, dressed appropriately, and bring a complete resume to make a strong impression on prospective employers,' he said when featured on Apa Khabar Malaysia, a talk show aired on Bernama TV today. Sapian said that in addition to job prospects, the Perak edition of PMR will also feature more than 200 services provided directly to the public by various federal and state government agencies. He said the PMR also serves as a platform for the public to better understand government policies, including the Public Service Reform Agenda (ARPA), while offering feedback for service improvements. With the theme 'Pendidikan Tinggi Pemacu Negara MADANI', this Perak PMR focuses on the vital role of higher learning institutions in national development, with the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) as the leading agency, and the state government as the host. 'In line with the theme, students from TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) institutions will be providing free motorcycle servicing for visitors, which is part of the efforts to promote TVET as a practical and valuable educational pathway,' he added. Other highlights at Perak PMR 2025 include the MADANI Sale initiative, offering discounts of up to 30 per cent, and exhibitions featuring security assets from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM). Four satellite programmes are also being held in the Manjung district, including Belia Silat MADANI (held on June 1), a community event with fishermen (June 21), Kenduri Rakyat MADANI (June 15), and religious activities scheduled for June 20 and 21. As such, Sapian urged residents of Perak and those from the Central and Northern Zones to take full advantage of the opportunities offered during the programme, which runs daily from 9 am to 10 pm.

Boost for development, economy: Nizam

Published on: Sunday, May 11, 2025 Published on: Sun, May 11, 2025 Text Size: Assistant Minister to the Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan THE 2025 Madani Rakyat Programme (PMR) serves as a development catalyst and has the potential to boost the local economy, said Assistant Minister to the Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan. The Apas Assemblyman said the initiative delivers government services to the people to help them raise their living standards. 'When large-scale programmes like this are brought to Tawau, we get upgrades in many aspects — particularly in street lighting... roads and other infrastructure. It also creates business opportunities for local entrepreneurs in the district and surrounding areas to set up stalls to promote their products. 'Although PMR runs for only three days (May 9 to 11), the benefits to the people do not end when the programme concludes. I hope all ministries and agencies involved will continue to serve and support those needing various guidance,' he said. He thanked the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (Pacu), the Prime Minister's Office and the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop) for choosing Tawau to host the programme this year. 'The programme was held in Kota Kinabalu last year. Many people from the east coast of Sabah could not attend due to the distance (about 450km),' he said, urging Tawau residents to take the opportunity to attend the event and get information on the services offered by federal and state agencies. 'PMR significantly benefits urban and rural communities by providing the public direct access to government agency services. This programme serves as a platform for interaction between the people and the Government while directly conveying the principles of the Madani policies,' he added. Meanwhile, over 100 products specially flown from Perlis are featured at the 2025 Madani Rakyat Programme (PMR) here, including garam belacan (fruit dip), belacan madu (shrimp paste), fermented fish and cordial made from Harumanis mango. Administrative Assistant for the Entrepreneurship Portfolio at the Perlis State Secretary's Office, Syazana Afiqah Nahar, said the Sabah PMR is an ideal platform to showcase Perlis's products and heritage to Sabahans and promote the State's tourism industry in conjunction with Visit Perlis 2024–2025 campaign. 'Among the products are various types of belacan…and Harumanis cordial, produced by the Koperasi Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Anak Istimewa Perlis, a cooperative which plays an active role in supporting the development of children with special needs and disabilities in Perlis,' she said. Syazana Afiqah said they are also promoting tourist attractions in Perlis through various souvenirs, including fridge magnets that highlight the unique features of these locations. 'We hope programmes like this can provide an opportunity for the people of Sabah to get to know Perlis better,' she said. A visitor, Nuri Juliana Majuntis, 45, said she bought the fermented lampam fish, which brought back the nostalgia that reminds her of the visit to the State two years ago. 'I love Perlis fermented lampam fish. The taste is unique and unlike other fermented fish. I'm so happy to be able to buy it here again. I've purchased a lot to keep and share with my family,' she added. Irmawati Abdul Kadir, 38, said she was interested in the Harumanis cordial, which she claimed had the authentic taste of the state's famous Harumanis mango. 'When I heard that it's made from the famous Harumanis mango from Perlis, I immediately wanted to buy it. Unfortunately, the stock is limited. I'll try to order it online,' she said. The booth, managed by the Perlis Economic Planning Division, is in the sales section of PMR 2025. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Lukanisman (third left) presents the Program Kasih Ihsan Madani (i-Care4U) contribution to one of the recipients. MIRI (May 10): The development of Subis District will be strategically aligned with tourism-driven initiatives under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with Niah Cave positioned as the district's flagship attraction, according to Sibuti MP Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni. Speaking at the 'Program Bakti Madani Subis' at Dewan Sepupok, Niah today, the federal Deputy Health Minister said Subis' rich natural assets, including pristine beaches, cultural events, and heritage sites, had made it an ideal future hub for agro-tourism and eco-tourism in northern Sarawak. He noted that the district is already well-known for its oil agricultural output, particularly oil palm cultivation and local products such as 'kelulut' (stingless bee) honey from Bekenu and 'belacan' (shrimp paste) from the Bekenu-Niah area. 'Subis also serves as a strategic stop-over point for travellers heading to Suai, Niah and Bintulu,' he said. 'Destinations such as Tanjung Bungai Beach, Peliau Beach, Tusan Beach, the Miri-SIbuti Coral Reef, as well as Lambir National Park, offer strong tourism potential.' Beyond tourism, he also outlined a series of development proposals under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), with a strong emphasis on education. 'The plan includes the complete rebuilding of four dilapidated schools in the district. The programme was jointly organised by the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (Pacu) and the Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda), drawing participation from hundreds of residents. Tawau to host PMR 2025 Sabah, Empowering Communities through Entrepreneurship

Published on: Thursday, May 08, 2025 Published on: Thu, May 08, 2025 Text Size: TAWAU: Tawau, Sabah will host the Program MADANI Rakyat (PMR) 2025 Sabah, a people-centred initiative organised by the Prime Minister's Department through the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU), with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) as the lead ministry, from 9 to 11 May 2025. PMR 2025 Sabah is a national movement aimed at empowering the people by reducing poverty through entrepreneurship. The programme is anchored on the values of the Malaysia MADANI framework—sustainability, respect, innovation, well-being, and trust. This initiative will bring together federal ministries, state agencies, and grassroots entrepreneurs to deliver services and opportunities directly to the community. The programme aims to bridge the gap between the public service and the people, while promoting transparency, inclusivity, and economic empowerment. Sabah was chosen to launch the 2025 edition in recognition of its distinctive challenges and immense potential to drive community-based progress. Through PMR, the government offers a platform for the public to interact with policymakers, share feedback, and voice concerns, thereby enabling better service delivery in line with the Public Service Reform Agenda. The theme, 'Ending Poverty Through Entrepreneurship,' underpins PMR 2025 Sabah, reflecting the government's commitment to addressing hardcore poverty sustainably by empowering citizens. According to YB Datuk Ewon Benedick, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, the event marks a significant milestone for both Sabah and the nation. 'PMR 2025 Sabah represents the government's unwavering commitment to reduce poverty by empowering the people through entrepreneurship. This is about creating dignified and resilient livelihoods, not dependency,' he said. The three-day event, held at Dataran Majlis Perbandaran Tawau, will feature over 500 activities. Visitors can look forward to 36 government agency booths, 204 public service counters, and 158 entrepreneur stalls under the Jualan MADANI initiative. A vibrant career carnival will also feature 15 employers offering more than 600 job opportunities. The most important aspect of Jualan MADANI is affordability, with essential items such as rice, chicken, eggs, and cooking oil will be sold at discounts of up to 30%. This initiative not only eases the cost of living but also stimulates the growth of local entrepreneurs, especially those involved in the One District One Industry (SDSI) initiative. A total of 120 SDSI entrepreneurs and 24 food vendors will showcase the rich cultural and culinary diversity of Sabah. For business owners, PMR 2025 Sabah offers a golden opportunity to network, collaborate, and grow. The PADANIAGA business matching session will connect entrepreneurs with investors and distributors, while the BIAYA Usahawan counters will offer guidance on micro-financing options from KUSKOP's key agencies such as TEKUN Nasional, SME Corp, and Bank Rakyat. Beyond business and services, the programme also seeks to enhance public awareness and civic responsibility. The Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam will explore the theme 'Formula of the Afterlife Entrepreneur,' blending ethical entrepreneurship with spiritual values. By leveraging Sabah's natural and cultural assets, particularly in agriculture, fisheries, handicrafts, and ecotourism, the exhibition aims to transform local knowledge into global business opportunities and build sustainable community economies. Adding to the festive atmosphere will be various cultural and entertainment events. On 10 May, a star-studded concert will feature top Malaysian artists including Awie, Stacy, Akim, Felix Agus, and TEKUN Band. Family-friendly activities such as karaoke competitions, colouring contests, lucky draws, and STEM and AI exhibitions will further enrich the experience. These engaging events not only entertain but also foster community unity and inclusivity. Satellite programmes will run from 7 to 11 May in surrounding areas. In Kampung Mentadak Baru on Sebatik Island, a community-based CSR project will upgrade basic facilities such as a futsal court, library, and community hall, with solar lighting installed through a collaboration between UDA Holdings, Bank Rakyat, and local residents. On 8 and 9 May, the Halal Success Programme at Tawau Community College jointly organised by KUSKOP, Pernas, and Maxis will guide over 150 MSME entrepreneurs on obtaining halal certification and entering international markets. Meanwhile, at Hotel Royale Borneo, the JOM@COOP programme will showcase the cooperative business model's role in community development and poverty reduction. IKMa Sabah Zone (Tawau Branch) will hold a Knowledge Dialogue Programme in conjunction with the Ground Outreach Programme Towards Empowering Cooperatives 2025, themed 'Ending Poverty Through the Cooperative Business Model.' Another CSR initiative will take place on 11 May at PPR Batu 8, one of Tawau's most underserved communities, where sports facilities will be upgraded and solar lighting installed, benefiting more than 4,500 residents. What sets PMR apart is its focus on two-way engagement, empowering citizens to be active contributors in governance. PMR provides a platform for individuals to voice opinions, share ideas, and offer direct feedback to government representatives. This culture of open dialogue fosters a more responsive and inclusive administrative model that genuinely reflects the people's aspirations and needs. At its core, PMR 2025 Sabah aims to broaden access for all including jobseekers, students, entrepreneurs, and families. The programme encompasses a wide array of initiatives, including job opportunities, business development support, legal aid, digital skills training, and mental health services all thoughtfully designed to uplift and empower communities. During the event, the Prime Minister is scheduled to present the Sabah Successful Entrepreneur Award to outstanding B40 entrepreneurs who have thrived with support from KUSKOP and partner agencies. PMR 2025 Sabah represents a major step forward in building a more just and resilient Malaysia. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
