Manga Productions partners with SEGA to bring Sonic franchise to MENA
The game debuts with a record 23 characters, with more to be added through ongoing post-launch updates. Manga Productions, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk), has announced a strategic publishing and distribution agreement with Japanese gaming powerhouse SEGA to bring the Sonic franchise to audiences across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The collaboration will see Manga Productions publish SEGA's kart racing title Sonic Racing: Crossworlds in the region. In a statement, the company emphasised that the partnership aims to not only localise and promote the game for regional gamers but also to involve Saudi talent in the publishing and marketing process, supporting the growth of the Kingdom's creative industries. Dr. Essam Bukhary, CEO of Manga Productions, said: 'Manga Productions has built strategic partnerships that support the creative content industry in Saudi Arabia and the region. Our collaboration with SEGA brings Sonic Racing: Crossworlds to MENA audiences.' Developed by SEGA's arcade racing team, Sonic Racing: Crossworlds features a gameplay twist where tracks shift into mysterious, unpredictable worlds during the second lap of each race. The title will launch with a record-breaking roster of 23 characters, including iconic guest appearances from characters such as Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona 5 Royal, Ichiban Kasuga from Like a Dragon, as well as crossover entries from Minecraft and SpongeBob SquarePants. More characters will be added in future updates. The game offers extensive customisation through over 70 'Gadgets' that allow players to tailor their racing strategies with skills and advantages. It also supports cross-play functionality, enabling up to 12 players to compete online in various multiplayer modes.

Hatsune Miku and Persona 5 Royal collaboration confirmed for August in Colorful Stage event
Sega has confirmed an official crossover between Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage and Persona 5 Royal, set to run from August 4 to 13 2025. The limited-time event will bring a range of new content to the mobile rhythm game, including cosmetics based on characters from Persona 5 Royal. The collaboration was announced on the official Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage X account on July 28, shortly after a leaked video appeared online showing Hatsune Miku performing a cover of Persona 5's battle theme, 'Life Will Change.' Sega has now formally confirmed the track as part of the event. During the crossover, players will be able to obtain special gacha items, including limited avatar costumes inspired by Persona 5's Joker and Violet. Two free items will also be distributed to players who log in during the event period: the 'Morgana Dress-up Costume' and the 'Leblanc Curry Set.' While this is the first collaboration between Colorful Stage and the Persona series, Hatsune Miku has previously appeared in several other gaming titles, including Persona 4: Dancing All Night, Fortnite, and Monster Hunter. She has also been featured in non-gaming projects such as official Magic: The Gathering cards and Asus hardware promotions. Full event details have yet to be released, but Sega has stated that more information will be made available ahead of the launch.

The worlds of the massive Vocaloid hit Hatsune Miku and Atlus' Persona franchise are about to collide, as the mobile rhythm game, Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage , is getting a special collaboration event with Persona 5 Royal in August. Announced via the Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage official X/Twitter page, the event will kick off starting from 4 August and will run till 13 August. During this period, players will be able to obtain limited-edition costumes inspired by Persona 5 characters like Joker and Violet via the mobile game's gacha system. Additionally, the event will also feature a new track, Persona 5's battle theme 'Life Will Change', alongside free gifts like the 'Morgana Dress-up Costume' avatar and 'Leblanc Curry Set' item for players who log in during the event period, where they can also participate in a collaborative Stamp Mission Event for additional rewards.
