Firefighters extinguish large field fire in south Essex countryside
CREWS from five fire stations worked throughout yesterday afternoon to extinguish a fire that ripped through a field in the south Essex countryside.
Firefighters responded to reports of a field fire in Little Burstead's Common Road at 4.13pm yesterday.
Surrounding fields were successfully prevented from catching alight and investigation is due to be launched into the cause of the blaze.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service group manager Pete Donovan said: "Crews worked really hard in extremely hot conditions and farmers helped by working with us to create firebreaks.

"The fire was extinguished shortly after 6pm and crews remained at the scene to check for hotspots.
"An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause."
