News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Awards: Girls wrestling
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Our girls wrestling winner needed just 76 seconds at the first ever girls wrestling championship to win both of her matches by tech falls earning her outstanding honors. At the state championships she won her first match with a 10-0 tech fall then won her next three matches with pins to claim back-to-back state titles. Those pins took just a combined 66 seconds, and her semifinal match was over in 12 seconds. She finished the year with a 27-0 record. Not only was she undefeated, but not one of her opponents scored a single point on her all year. A perfect season by every definition. For the second straight year, the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award for girls wrestling goes to Dundee's Peyton Mullin! Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Girls wrestling state champs top Section Five Best
Peyton Mullin and Teegan Kibble not only won titles at the first ever official girls wrestling state championships, both did so after undefeated girls wrestling seasons. The two state champs head up a group of high school achievers that includes a state wrestling title of his own from Zane Kropman. Midlakes bowler Alivia Miller won sectionals with a three-game and six-game series that every other sectional bowler, male or female. Aden Brown's thievery in a double-overtime thriller against McQuaid helped Pittsford hockey to a sectional title. Finally, Simon Kowal led Victor to a sectional final win with a hat trick… in the second period. It's all part of another Section Five Best. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
