Yahoo09-04-2025
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Our girls wrestling winner needed just 76 seconds at the first ever girls wrestling championship to win both of her matches by tech falls earning her outstanding honors.
At the state championships she won her first match with a 10-0 tech fall then won her next three matches with pins to claim back-to-back state titles.
Those pins took just a combined 66 seconds, and her semifinal match was over in 12 seconds.
She finished the year with a 27-0 record. Not only was she undefeated, but not one of her opponents scored a single point on her all year.
A perfect season by every definition.
For the second straight year, the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award for girls wrestling goes to Dundee's Peyton Mullin!

Andy Halliday obliterates Rangers tactics as he exposes 'pure myth' under Russell Martin

Andy Halliday has obliterated Russell Martin's Rangers tactics with a forensic examination of his gameplan. The former Ibrox hero picked apart the new boss' approach from their dismal 1-1 draw at home to Dundee, which has left Martin without a win in his first two Premiership matches in charge and in serious danger of falling well off the pace of champions and rivals Celtic already. Halliday got a close up view of Martin's team on the opening day of the season. He was an unused substitute at Fir Park as Gers were held 1-1 by Jens Bethel Askou's side. READ MORE: The SPFL star who was 'signed and sealed' for Rangers transfer this summer and why it collapsed READ MORE: Something Russell Martin said showed Rangers have come far from the days of Clement gaslighting the support And they fared no better at Ibrox as beleaguered Steven Pressley was handed a timely boost by leaving Govan with a share of the spoils. The Dark Blues were only denied all three points by a controversial penalty call two minutes from time. And Halliday gave a detailed breakdown of the team he'll face at least another twice this season, breaking down the draw backs to Martin's style and how Rangers are still struggling to break down sides that are happy to sit in and hit them on the break. Getting the tactics board out, Halliday spoke on the Open Goal podcast to co-hosts Simon Ferry, Paul Slane and fellow ex Ibrox man Kevin Kyle. He had the formation lined up from Saturday's 1-1 draw against Dundee and ripped it to shreds, saying: 'This is Rangers against Dundee. 'Dundee played a 5-4-1, really compact, really tight, really deep and narrow. Rangers went with a flat back four and they had five players attacking eleven players. How are you going to create chances and score goals if you're five v eleven? 'You would struggle to score against kids in training if you were five v eleven. And do you know what they keep doing because there's nothing else on? They play a straight pass into Cyriel Dessers and when they lose the ball there's f***** nobody in the middle of the pitch. 'People talk about Rangers having inverted full backs but that's a pure myth.' The SPFL star who was 'signed and sealed' for Rangers transfer this summer and why it collapsed

Kevin Thomson claims Josh Mulligan had agreed a move to Rangers earlier this summer. But the switch collapsed after a change of ownership and recruitment at Ibrox. Mulligan, 22, was a standout for Dundee last season and attracted interest from the Light Blues in January. READ MORE: There's one thing Rangers boss Russell Martin should thank his predecessor for READ MORE: Rangers sent Champions League warning over Club Brugge phenomenon that's 'almost impossible' to stop Gers already struck a pre-contract agreement with Dens Park teammate Lyall Cameron and were weighing up a double swoop. But the Ibrox outfit decided to pause their transfer business as the club rubberstamped the appointments of sporting director Kevin Thelwell and head of recruitment Dan Purdy. Hibs then quickly moved to the front of the queue and completed a major coup by luring the versatile star to Easter Road. Mulligan has hit the ground running in Leith and ex-Rangers and Hibs ace Thomson reckons the uncapped Scot will make the Hibees a fortune one day down the line. Thomson told Open Goal: "He's a machine. He was signed and sealed to go to Ibrox. It was all agreed, I heard. All agreed. "I think it was just the change in recruitment and ownership that stalled it a wee bit. "I don't know if it was to the degree where he was just about pen to paper. "He covers so many different positions. He probably doesn't like the word, but he's like that utility type player who can cover so many different types of positions. "Great age, physical specimen. He'll be one who can hopefully get the Hibees a few quid. Kieron Bowie will become a good asset for the club as well."
