Cooler conditions with cloud cover for KwaZulu-Natal

KwaZulu-Natal will experience cool temperatures and partly cloudy skies on Tuesday, with no extreme weather expected, but residents should still brace for a chilly day. Forecaster Phemelo Zonke noted, 'KwaZulu-Natal will remain fine and cool with Richards Bay expecting highs of around 23 degrees, and cooler conditions in Pietermaritzburg with a maximum of 18.' Despite partly cloudy skies, KZN is unlikely to see rainfall. Zonke explained, 'There are no isolated thundershowers forecast for KwaZulu-Natal. The focus will be on mild to cool temperatures, especially in inland towns.' Eastern parts of the province may start the morning with a light mist or fog, but conditions will clear up gradually through the afternoon. Coastal towns like Durban will enjoy slightly warmer highs compared to inland areas. Most of the province is expected to have consistent weather throughout the day. Zonke said, 'It's a stable weather pattern overall, no severe weather alerts, just a mix of sun and cloud with cooler air settling over the region.' Residents are urged to keep warm and continue monitoring forecasts if weather conditions change suddenly, especially in areas close to the Drakensberg, where temperatures drop quickly after sunset. Cold and cloudy day ahead for Gauteng

On Tuesday, residents of Gauteng will wake up to cold weather and a partly cloudy sky. Temperatures are expected to remain low throughout the day. According to Phemelo Zonke, a forecaster, 'Johannesburg will start cold with a minimum of four degrees, reaching a high of 18 degrees. Springs and Bronkhorstspruit will be even colder, peaking at just 16 degrees.' The region will remain dry, with no significant rain forecast for the day. Much of the central and eastern interior of the country, including Gauteng, will see partly cloudy conditions. 'Fine weather is expected over the southern and central parts of the country, but the northwestern, northern, and northeastern areas will remain partly cloudy,' Zonke added. Although there's no warning of thundershowers in Gauteng, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) is monitoring developments over the adjacent regions, where weather systems could shift. Cold conditions in nearby provinces like the Free State and Mpumalanga may also influence Gauteng's overall feel. While Gauteng avoids extreme weather, SAWS has issued a fire danger warning for parts of the Western Cape. Zonke said, 'Runaway veld fires are possible overnight due to high fire danger conditions, especially over the southern part of the Western Cape.' Cool and chilly conditions expected in Gauteng

A cold front across South Africa will bring cool weather conditions and morning fog to Gauteng on Tuesday. Temperatures will dip into the single digits overnight. Overnight temperatures in Johannesburg are forecast to drop to 8°C, with a daytime high of 17°C on Tuesday. Pretoria and Vereeniging are expected to remain slightly warmer, with highs around 20°C. Forecaster Phemelo Zonke explained, 'Tomorrow we do have a confrontation with other parts of the country, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the central and southeastern parts.' The forecast for the rest of the week indicates a continuation of cool to cold conditions, with partly cloudy skies expected on Wednesday. While no severe weather warnings are in place for Gauteng, residents are encouraged to stay updated with daily forecasts. Temperatures are not expected to rise significantly until later in the week. Rain and cold grip KwaZulu-Natal as cold front moves in

KwaZulu-Natal residents should brace for a wet and chilly week as a cold front brings early morning fog, rain, and isolated thundershowers to much of the province. Wet weather is expected to persist throughout the day, and temperatures will remain cool to cold across the region. Durban will see a maximum of 21°C, while Richards Bay will peak at 20°C. Inland areas such as Newcastle and Underberg are expected to be much colder, with daytime highs in the low teens and even colder overnight. The coastal areas, particularly along the eastern shoreline and adjacent interior of KwaZulu-Natal, are set to receive widespread rainfall, with isolated to scattered thundershowers in other areas. Forecaster Phemelo Zonke said, 'As the cold front has moved through, isolated showers and thundershowers in places over the interior are expected, reaching the southeastern coastline and becoming widespread along the eastern coastline.' She added that the public should take caution as some of the storms could be intense in isolated areas. Although KwaZulu-Natal is not currently under a weather warning, the extreme northeastern parts of the Eastern Cape bordering KZN may experience severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, strong winds, and hail. These conditions may influence weather in northern KwaZulu-Natal, especially overnight. The rest of the week is expected to remain cool, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of isolated showers continuing into Wednesday and Thursday. Rain and cooler weather set to sweep across KwaZulu-Natal

KwaZulu-Natal can expect a cold and wet Friday as a cold front continues to move across the country, bringing rain and chilly conditions. Rain will be more widespread along the coastal parts of the province, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms expected throughout the day. According to Phemelo Zonke, a SABC meteorologist, 'Scattered showers and rain are forecast along the coastal regions of KwaZulu-Natal, while isolated thunder showers are expected inland.' These conditions will likely result in slippery roads and poor visibility in some areas, especially in the morning, when fog is also expected in parts of the interior. Temperatures across KZN will remain cool, with many inland areas experiencing cloudy skies and light rain. Drivers and commuters should be prepared for slower travel and plan accordingly. The South African Weather Service has warned about damaging Northern Cape and North West winds, while the Western Cape faces strong coastal waves. Though KZN is not under severe warning, residents are urged to remain alert to changing conditions. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
