Following that, she starred in several known projects including Pyaasa, Phir Subah Hogi, Dhool Ke Phool, Parvarish, Ujala, Maya, Hariyali Aur Raasta, Bewakoof, Anpadh, Bahurani. She worked in over 100 productions, becoming one of the most prominent and richest actresses in late 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s. She was at peak, when something unfortunate landed up at her front door. In 1978, an income tax raid recovered staggering Rs 12 lakh cash from her washroom's wall. According to reports, Mala was unaware about the money and claimed that it was hidden there by her father. However, when she appeared in court, her statement changed, stating that the money was earned through prostitution. Although, the court permitted her to keep the money, but her shocking statement sent shockwaves through the entire film fraternity. It is believed that one lie ended her career effectively, resulting in loss of many successful projects. Coming to her personal life, she got married to Nepali actor Chidambar Prasad Lohani in 1966. The couple has one daughter Pratibha Sinha, a former Bollywood actress. Following her husband's death in June 2024, she completely vanished from the limelight and living life of anonymity.

Tv actress Gulki Joshi, who was seen in Maddam Sir as Haseena Malik, has recently been making headlines for sharing her horrifying experience when she started her career. Joshi revealed she was nearly molested when she went to present an award to cricket star Mahendra Singh Dhoni. While giving a quote to Filmmymantra, the actress shared how her visit to Ranchi became traumatic. 'This happened a long time ago. I had gone to Ranchi for the IPL. I had to present an award to Mr Dhoni. At that time, my show Nadaan Parinde (2014) was running successfully, and because of the show's popularity, I was invited to attend the event,' Gulki told the portal. Joshi felt she could be molested by the crowd. 'As soon as I stepped outside, I was completely mobbed by a crowd. Mobbed to the level of being scared. It wasn't just excitement – it became physically overwhelming to the point where I genuinely felt threatened. Amid the pushing, shoving, and chaos, the horrifying thought crossed my mind that I could be molested right there in the crowd. Thankfully, security personnel intervened at the right moment. Just as things were spiralling out of control, the security team arrived and somehow managed to pull me out of the mob. They whisked me away to safety. But the fear lingered. It shook me. That was the only time I've ever truly been afraid of the crowd, of the people', the actress continued. Even though he must have been exhausted after the match, he patiently met every fan, smiled, took pictures, and made everyone feel special. In that moment, I realised what true talent is. No arrogance, no drama, just pure, unfiltered humility. It stayed with me. It reminded me that real talent shines the brightest when it's combined with real humility'. Actor Gulki Joshi, known for shows such as Phir Subah Hogi and Nadaan Parindey Ghar Aaja, has shared a harrowing experience, revealing that she was nearly molested when she went to present an award to cricket star MS Dhoni.
