Inglewood Place Toilets Bring Colour, Accessibility And Convenience To The Area

A new public toilet block opened this morning on the corner of Taranaki and Dixon Street which includes colourful lighting and Wellington's first Changing Places facility for people with disabilities. The site includes two standard and three accessible toilets with baby-changing facilities, automated timed doors and hands-free controls. Two will be open 24/7, the other three from 7am-11pm. The sixth is the Changing Places facility, a place where people with multiple or complex disabilities can use the toilet, change, and shower. The Changing Places facility is available for access only by those registered with the organisation. Wellington City Council's Chief Operating Officer James Roberts says the toilets have been placed where they are to make them more visible, accessible and attractive. 'Putting the block in a more visible place, installing new CCTV cameras in the area and adding beautiful lighting will help reduce anti-social behaviour – while also providing a much-needed toilet stop for the public in this busy spot. 'The building, with its ribbed timber facade, looks great during the day – and is transformed into a special light show at night.' Advertisement - scroll to continue reading The exterior lighting by Angus Muir Design is managed by the Council and will be changed to reflect awareness campaigns like Breast Cancer Awareness month, and major events like Anzac Day, Christmas, Wellington Anniversary, WOW, and the Jazz Festival. Changing Places was founded in New Zealand in 2017 by Jenn Hooper, whose daughter Charley (19) has profound and complex disabilities that require full-time care and support. Jenn feels immense pride in honouring her daughter and celebrating the opening of the 10th Changing Places room in Aotearoa, and the first for the capital. 'If I brought Charley down to Wellington with my family, as I have, she doesn't get a shower until we go home. Now she can go to this toilet block and have a shower during a week-long visit to Wellington, and I as her carer have the right equipment to safely provide that care. It's game changing. Wellington City Council has done an amazing thing here by catering to this specific part of society. 'Restricting access prevents vandalism and ensures the room is clean and available for those who so desperately need it. It's not about excluding those who don't need them. These rooms are about including those who do.' The new $2.3 million facility replaces the toilets removed from nearby Te Aro Park. They are designed by Council's architectural team to support crime prevention through environmental design as well as being aesthetically pleasing. The Te Aro Park toilets were removed in November 2022 largely due to their position making the space susceptible to crime and anti-social behaviour. PEYTON MANNING AND JAMIE HOROWITZ'S OMAHA PRODUCTIONS LAUNCHES NEW ESPN LACROSSE SERIES STARRING PAUL RABIL

NEW YORK, June 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Omaha Productions, the media company founded by Peyton Manning and Jamie Horowitz, has launched Rabil's Places, a new series debuting June 4 on ESPN+ and running for five weeks. Hosted by former professional lacrosse star and Premier Lacrosse League co-founder Paul Rabil, the show explores the roots, culture, and future of lacrosse in America through in-depth conversations with icons, innovators, and everyday heroes of the sport. The series is part of Omaha's growing "Places" franchise and blends personal storytelling with a deeper look at lacrosse's underrepresented history and communities. New episodes will premiere on Wednesdays on ESPN+ and will also be available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ for Disney Bundle Trio subscribers. "Lacrosse isn't just defined by the action on the field. It's about the people who've played it, the places we call home, and the culture that's kept it alive for centuries," Rabil said in a statement. He called the series "our episodic journey through the soul of the sport, from sacred beginnings to its rise in college towns and pro stadiums, aimed to bring fans new and old along for the ride." Manning, who is executive producer of Rabil's Places, called Rabil "the perfect person to tell the stories that make lacrosse the sport that it is today." Omaha Productions, known for its Emmy-winning ManningCast and acclaimed athlete-driven storytelling, partnered with ESPN to produce the five-part documentary series. "This series continues our mission of giving athletes a platform to tell their own stories, in their own voices," said Jamie Horowitz, President and Co-Founder of Omaha Productions. "Paul brings a unique combination of credibility, curiosity, and charisma that makes Rabil's Places a natural next step for the franchise." Episode Guide: Episode 1: "Turf Wars" (June 4)Legendary football coach Bill Belichick explains his lifelong affection for lacrosse. Paul is joined by former college lacrosse star turned Super Bowl-champion wide receiver, Chris Hogan, to understand why there's so much crossover between the sports, and PLL teammates Ricky Miezan and Nakeie Montgomery discuss their decision to forgo pro football in favor of lacrosse. Episode 2: "Slick Sticks" (June 11)Inspired by the signature moves that revolutionized lacrosse, Paul sets out to create a new signature shot. After Gary Gait explains the birth of his iconic "Air Gait" move, Paul turns to Charlotte North, one of the game's most creative scorers, and former college lacrosse star turned NBA player, Pat Spencer, for inspiration for his new staple move. Episode 3: "Crab Cakes and Lacrosse" (June 18)That's what Maryland does! Paul returns to his alma mater, Johns Hopkins, to learn how Maryland became a lacrosse hotbed. He's joined by his former Hopkins teammate Kyle Harrison and visits Kyle's father, Miles, who teaches Paul about the state's important HBCU lacrosse history at Morgan State. Finally, Paul visits 3-time Tewaaraton winner Taylor Cummings at Bryn Mawr, where Maryland women's lax stars are born and jousts over the true state sport. Former WWE star (and lax goalie) Mick Foley, Hall of Famer Scott Bacigalupo and PLL star Blaze Riorden give Paul a crash course on the physical, mental, and technical demands of the toughest position in sports. Episode 5: "The Creator's Game" (July 2)Paul seeks out a deeper understanding of the Native American origins of lacrosse and its traditional wooden stick. Greats Jeremy Thompson of Onondaga Nation and Zed Williams of Seneca Nation teach Paul important indigenous traditions of the game; current Syracuse standout and rising star of the Haudenosaunee Nationals, Trey Deere, meets Paul at Alfie Jacques' legendary woodworking shop before Paul tries his hand at making a wooden stick of his own. U.S. News Releases the 2025-2026 Best Places to Live Rankings

Johns Creek, Georgia, tops this year's list with strong desirability and job market scores. WASHINGTON, May 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in rankings and consumer advice, today unveiled the 2025-2026 Best Places to Live in the U.S., ranking major U.S. cities based on value, desirability, job market and quality of life. This year, U.S. News expanded its data to evaluate more than 850 cities (up from 150 in previous years), publishing the top 250 as the year's best places to live. New data considerations and the expansion of evaluated cities resulted in a new top 10 for the 2025-2026 year, with Johns Creek, Georgia, taking No. 1 due to its strong job market and desirability scores. "The expansion of the 2025-2026 Best Places to Live rankings gives consumers a more detailed view into what it's like to live somewhere at the community level, enabling them to consider more options for potential places to settle down," said Erika Giovanetti, consumer lending analyst at U.S. News & World Report. Carmel, Indiana, ranked No. 2 on the strength of its high desirability, value and job market scores. Texas debuted three top-10 placements due to strong value and desirability scores: Pearland, Texas, landed at No. 3, while League City, Texas, and Leander, Texas, placed at No. 6 and No. 8, respectively. The 2025-2026 Best Places to Live were determined based on a methodology that takes into account the city's job market, value, quality of life and desirability. These measures were weighted in part based on a public survey of thousands of individuals throughout the U.S. to find what qualities they consider important in a place to live. The methodology also factors in data from U.S. News' internal resources, Applied Geographic Solutions, and U.S. government agencies including the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Census Bureau, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Federal Emergency Management Agency and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This year, based on consumer sentiment, the weights were stack-ranked, measuring quality of life, value, desirability and job market. The 2025-2026 rankings also include U.S. News Best States data on economy and infrastructure to deepen consumer confidence and understanding of cities' standings on important factors that contribute to overall quality of life. "While quality of life remains the top priority for many Americans – and has the heaviest weight in determining the Best Places to Live rankings – U.S. News slightly adjusted its weights to increase priority for a location's job market amid heightened economic uncertainty," said Giovanetti. The 859 cities analyzed for the 2025-2026 reveal were then ranked within state-specific rankings. "This year's release celebrates the top 250 places that meet consumer needs best, but also offers the ability to view top-ranked cities in states of their choice," added Giovanetti. Best Places to Live is part of U.S. News' expanding Real Estate division, which helps individuals determine the best places to live, and places to retire, as well as better understand the housing market, determine their home value, work with a real estate agent, and buy and sell a home. 2025-2026 U.S. News Best Places to Live – Top 10 *See the full rankings here. 1.
