It was allegedly in development at Supermassive Games, with a 12-hour single-player story planned. And it came up with Thursday, November 11, 2027 – fitting in with this latest leak. Here's a list of previous PlayStation release dates, as well as the days of the week that those consoles launched on: PlayStation – Saturday, December 3, 1994 (1st Saturday) PS One – Friday, July 7, 2000 (1st Friday) PlayStation 2 – Saturday, March 4, 2000 (1st Saturday) PS2 Slimline – Friday, October 29, 2004 (5th Friday) PlayStation 3 – Saturday, November 11, 2006 (2nd Saturday) PS3 Slim – Thursday, August 27, 2009 (4th Thursday) PS3 Super Slim – Tuesday, September 25, 2012 (4th Tuesday) PlayStation 4 – Friday, November 15, 2013 (3rd Friday) PS4 Slim – Thursday, September 15, 2016 (3rd Thursday) PS4 Pro – Thursday, November 10, 2016 (2nd Thursday) PlayStation 5 – Thursday, November 12, 2020 (2nd Thursday) PS5 Slim – Friday, November 10, 2023 (2nd Friday) PS5 Pro – Thursday, November 7, 2024 (1st Thursday) There's usually a six-to-seven-year gap between the major console releases. Stand-Alone PlayStation Handheld Rumor Corroborated by Another Insider

Every day, it seems we are getting closer to actually getting another . The latest update regarding the console corroborates previous rumors of its existence, as well as its launch window. On NeoGAF, insider HeisenbergFX4 claims a 'full blown' PlayStation handheld is in the works. They do iterate that this would not fall within the PlayStation Portal pricing, which is currently $200, and will launch 'somewhere around' the PlayStation 6 launch. Last month, leaker KeplerL2 confirmed the existence of the PlayStation handheld. They claimed that it would not be as powerful as a PS5, but would be backwards compatible with the console at launch, which they confirmed would be part of the PS6 family. Although it seems like all the clues are pointing to PlayStation making a new handheld, take these rumors with a grain of salt. Sony has not formally revealed a handheld just yet. The industry changes on a dime, so what might be real right now may not be real in the next few days. We'll just have to wait and see. While Sony has yet to reveal a new PlayStation handheld console, they have stated that they do intend to focus on peripherals like the PlayStation Portal in its Corporate Strategy & Earnings Announcement Presentation. 'We also plan to focus on strong and profitable peripherals such as PlayStation Portal where our recently introduced beta cloud streaming feature allows users to enjoy their games on the go more easily,' reads Sony's statement. This could be taken in several ways. This could mean Sony plans to iterate on its successful game streaming handheld device. This could hint at the rumored PS6 handheld. This could mean both. Regardless, Sony is putting a focus on peripherals like these handheld devices, which is a nice update for PlayStation fans. Microsoft could launch Xbox handheld console with custom AMD chip: Report

Microsoft is reportedly working on its own handheld Xbox gaming console, and new information about its hardware has emerged. While Asus is set to release an Xbox-branded handheld device soon, Microsoft's version is believed to feature a custom processor developed by AMD. This move comes ahead of Microsoft's planned launch of a next-generation gaming console expected in 2027, which aims to compete with the rumoured PlayStation 6. According to a leak shared on the NeoGAF forums by user KeplerL2, Microsoft will equip its handheld device with a custom low-power accelerated processing unit (APU) designed by AMD. The leak does not include further details on the chip's power use or technical design. This custom AMD chip is said to power the "real" Xbox handheld console coming directly from Microsoft, which differentiates it from other Xbox-branded handhelds made by third-party manufacturers such as Asus. These include AMD's Ryzen Z2 Extreme, Intel's Lunar or Panther Lake CPUs, Nvidia's N1, and the Snapdragon X Elite 2. Earlier rumours suggested Microsoft's device might use an ARM-based chip, which raised questions about its ability to run older Xbox games. If the leak holds true, the custom AMD processor could allow better compatibility with a wider range of Xbox titles. Meanwhile, Asus is expected to launch its Xbox-branded model soon. The Asus ROG Ally 2 recently appeared on the US FCC website along with the 'Project Kennan' variant, which features a black finish and an Xbox button. The black version reportedly uses an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme (36W) APU and 64GB of RAM, while a white version comes with a less powerful AMD Aeirth Plus (20W) APU. Both models are expected to have a 7-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
