Sony May Have Quietly Discontinued a PS5 Accessory
Sony may have quietly discontinued a PS5 accessory, replacing it with a more expensive, higher-end model. Players began noticing the disappearance of as far back as six months ago, and now, it's not available to purchase on PS Direct either. Sony didn't officially announce the discontinuation of the Pulse 3D model, but we've seen reports from various regions that it's no longer available in stores. Pulse 3D has presumably been replaced by the Pulse Elite, which costs more. Some players have been left frustrated by the change. We've seen a number of threads pop up on gaming forums, with players complaining about issues with the pricey Elite and being unable to find a new Pulse 3D headset. 'I had Elites and Audeze Maxwell, and honestly, I returned to Pulse 3D due to great sound, comfort, and very light weight,' a user wrote on Reddit. 'I wanted to get a second pair and it's kinda unavailable in EU.' 'Why is no one talking about their Pulse headset just disappearing quietly?' another player asked. 'I think this is a big deal especially since their other headset [Elite], is still not functioning properly,' they added, referring to complaints of Elite disconnecting frequently. At the time of this writing, we can confirm that Pulse 3D isn't available to purchase via PS Direct. Stand-Alone PlayStation Handheld Rumor Corroborated by Another Insider
Every day, it seems we are getting closer to actually getting another . The latest update regarding the console corroborates previous rumors of its existence, as well as its launch window. On NeoGAF, insider HeisenbergFX4 claims a 'full blown' PlayStation handheld is in the works. They do iterate that this would not fall within the PlayStation Portal pricing, which is currently $200, and will launch 'somewhere around' the PlayStation 6 launch. Last month, leaker KeplerL2 confirmed the existence of the PlayStation handheld. They claimed that it would not be as powerful as a PS5, but would be backwards compatible with the console at launch, which they confirmed would be part of the PS6 family. Although it seems like all the clues are pointing to PlayStation making a new handheld, take these rumors with a grain of salt. Sony has not formally revealed a handheld just yet. The industry changes on a dime, so what might be real right now may not be real in the next few days. We'll just have to wait and see. While Sony has yet to reveal a new PlayStation handheld console, they have stated that they do intend to focus on peripherals like the PlayStation Portal in its Corporate Strategy & Earnings Announcement Presentation. 'We also plan to focus on strong and profitable peripherals such as PlayStation Portal where our recently introduced beta cloud streaming feature allows users to enjoy their games on the go more easily,' reads Sony's statement. This could be taken in several ways. This could mean Sony plans to iterate on its successful game streaming handheld device. This could hint at the rumored PS6 handheld. This could mean both. Regardless, Sony is putting a focus on peripherals like these handheld devices, which is a nice update for PlayStation fans. PS Store Quietly Gets Price Hikes for Some Older Games
The has randomly received price hikes for a bunch of older games by their publisher, leaving players confused. Players have reported that in several countries, Rockstar Games increased the prices of Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, GTA V, and the stand-alone GTA Online. It's not unheard of for publishers to increase prices of new games in a variety of regions, owing to economic factors. However, increasing prices of older games is a little perplexing. Over on Reddit, a player reported that RDR1, RDR2, and a bundle combining them both went up in price in both U.K. and Brazil. However, another Redditor pointed out that these price hikes started back in April, and affected a large number of countries including Japan, Sweden, Norway, and South Africa. Meanwhile, some countries including Mexico, Switzerland and Czech Republic got a price cut. In the U.K., RDR1 went up by over £10, and RDR2 went up by more than £5. At the time of this writing, it's unclear if it's only Rockstar Games that has adjusted prices of older games on online storefronts. We'll keep an eye on the situation and keep our readers posted. Little Kitty, Big City (PS5) Review: An Adorable Diversion
I'm always a sucker for a cat video game. Like Catlateral Damage before it, Little Kitty, Big City allows players to live out their fantasy of controlling a cat, jumping around, knocking things off shelves, and so forth. However, this is a more structured adventure as there's an actual plot rather than just encouraging you to cause kitty mayhem. You play as a cute cat that accidentally falls off the balcony of his apartment building and then finds himself lost in the city with not enough energy to get back up there. This leads to the core structure of the game: explore around, find fish to eat so you regain energy, and finish some missions because you're a helpful little guy. It's a simple 3D open-world adventure with plenty of platforming as you leap and climb your way around the town. While there's nothing extraordinary about the gameplay, Little Kitty, Big City is extremely charming. From how the cat moves to the well-written dialogue — I love the pompous bodega cat you meet early on — this always feels like a truly authored experience. Even the fast travel system using sewer manholes is more charmingly introduced than it has any reason to be. You'll have a smile on your face the entire time you play, so what more could you ask for? While I had a good time, Little Kitty, Big City is a game that's easy to nitpick. The camera can be unwieldy at times, especially around corners and tight areas. The controls and physics are sometimes off, meaning you might need to redo a section or two after a mistimed jump. Yet, it never brings the vibe down. I was always charmed by the experience, and any minor inconvenience was just that — minor. While it's ultimately a pretty basic adventure game, it's one with a ton of charm that doesn't overstay its welcome. It only takes a few hours to beat the game and get the adorable cat back to his home. That's a good thing, not a complaint, as we wouldn't want the little furball to be lost on the street for weeks. Little Kitty, Big City delivers exactly what you want from it. You get to play as a cute little cat, cause some mischief, collect some fish, and eventually find yourself back home. It's a charming misadventure starring a cute feline and one that isn't extended without good reason. If you're looking for a fun afternoon of gaming, then this fits the bill nicely. You're an adorable cat Cute dialogue Doesn't overstay its welcome Camera can be erratic Controls can sometimes be janky 8 Disclosure: The publisher provided a PlayStation 5 copy for our Little Kitty, Big City (PS5) review.
