Outlander's Final Season: Everything We Know So Far
Warm up those bagpipes, because Outlander is about to start playing its swan song. Starz's time-travel drama will come to a conclusion with its upcoming eighth and final season, a 10-episode run that will bring the ballad of Jamie and Claire to its resting place. Which storylines from Diana Gabaldon's books will make the cut? Which characters (aside from Himself and Herself) will be back? And when the heck will we be able to watch it?! More from TVLine Power Book III: Raising Kanan to End With Season 5 - But Is This the Final Chapter for the Starz Franchise? Towards Zero Is Glamorous, Gorgeous and Sneakily Sexy - Here Are 5 Reasons to Check Out BritBox's New Agatha Christie Series Blood of My Blood: Summer Premiere Date Set for Outlander Prequel Series Outlander Cast Photos: Behind the Scenes View List Dinna fash, Sassenachs: We've filled the list below with all the available intel about Outlander Season 8. We'll update it the moment there's any news, so make sure to check back often. And once you've scrolled through, hit the comments with your thoughts/feelings/opinions/hopes for the show's last season! Outlander's final season does not yet have a premiere date, but we'll be sure to update this post as soon as Starz announces one. Some context: The bulk of Season 8 filming wrapped in September 2024, though several cast members filmed reshoots shortly after. And in March 2025, series star Sam Heughan announced via Instagram that he'd just finished 'the last ADR' (aka re-recording dialogue that wasn't captured clearly during filming) on the series finale. Yes, Season 8 will be the time-travel drama's final run of episodes. Starz announced the series' ending in January 2023. 'It's been an incredible journey,' Heughan said in a video released at the time of the announcement. 'Thank you so much for being with us since Day 1,' series star Caitríona Balfe added. Since its start, Outlander has covered roughly one book in Diana Gabaldon's novel series per season. So it reasons that Season 8 would follow the events of Book 8, Written in My Own Heart's Blood. However, given that Gabladon has published Book 9 (Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone) and is working on Book 10, there's a good chance Season 8 will include storylines from all of the above. Co-showrunner Matthew B. Roberts says the guidelines for Season 8 were 'Nothing that doesn't affect Jamie and Claire gets in. It's gotta affect Jamie and Claire. All the main characters do — they're a part of it — but that's the drive. There's so many aspects. I mean, they're all big books. There's things where you kind of go over here, and you go over here — that's what makes the books so readable and fun. But when you have 10 episodes, you have to stay literally on track.' One plot that is not in the novels but will be addressed at the top of the final season: The Season 7 finale cliffhanger of whether Claire and Jamie's daughter, Faith, somehow survived what we thought was her stillbirth in Season 2. Roberts promises that fans will have that point cleared up 'visually' in the upcoming season. On the MacKenzie side of things, might Brianna and Roger have another baby in Season 8, like they do in Go Tell the Bees? 'As you know, we sometimes stick to the books, and we sometimes don't,' Skelton told TVLine coyly in February. 'But I think it would be great if they had another child. And wearing the fake pregnancy bumps is super fun, so sign me up.' Though Starz has not yet released an official cast list, we have it on good authority that Heughan, Balfe, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, Charles Vandervaart and David Berry will be back for the final season. Someone who won't return for the series' swan song is Kristen Atherton, who played Jamie's sister, Jenny, in Season 7. Though Jenny eventually joins her brother and his family in America in the novels, Roberts said time constraints meant making some tough cuts for Season 8. 'With 10 episodes,' he explained, 'there's a lot less you can do.' Along those lines, Tobias Menzies — who played Claire's husband, Frank, and his villainous forebear Jonathan 'Black Jack' Randall — also will not return, TVLine reported exclusively in March 2024. 'They're going to bring it home magnificently, I'm sure,' Menzies added. You'll be able to watch Outlander Season 8 on Starz and the Starz app. Starz has not yet released a trailer for Season 8. The moment that footage is available, we'll make sure to post it here. While you're waiting, entertain yourself with this behind-the-scenes video from our Season 7 TVLine x SheKnows cover shoot with Balfe, Heughan, Bell, Rankin and Skelton. You can find past seasons of Outlander on the Starz app and on-demand. Yes! The prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on Starz later this summer. For all the details on that series, which follows Jamie's and Claire's parents, make sure to check out our up-to-the-minute Everything We Know post. Outlander Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes. Power Book III: Raising Kanan to End With Season 5 — But Is This the Final Chapter for the Starz Franchise?
Power Book III is gearing up for its final chapter — which may or may not mark the end of the Power franchise as we know it. Starz on Friday announced that Power Book III: Raising Kanan will conclude with Season 5. The news was revealed in conjunction with the prequel series' Season 4 finale, which introduced Shameik Moore (Wu-Tang: An American Saga) as the oft-mentioned, but never-before-seen Branford 'Breeze' Frady. More from TVLine Power Book IV: Force Ending After 3 Seasons — EP Promises 'Fulfilling' Conclusion to Tommy's Story Power Prequel Series in the Works at Starz, Will Chronicle Origins of Ghost and Tommy Rescue HI-Surf Cancellation Explained: 'We Went All-In,' Says Fox Exec, But It 'Didn't Catch On Like We Had Hoped' 'It was always my intention that Raising Kanan would run for five seasons, and thanks to my friends and partners at Starz and Lionsgate, as well as the incredible cast, crew and writing staff, I've been able to tell the entirety of the story I set out to tell way back in 2019,' executive producer Sascha Penn said in a statement provided to our sister site Deadline. 'Having said that, with the table we've set in this season finale and the inevitable introduction of Breeze, there is still an exceptionally intense and action-packed season left for the viewers to experience, and I assure you that the stakes for Kanan and the entire Thomas family have never been higher. I'm very proud of this series, and grateful that we've been able to see it through to what is an incredibly explosive and satisfying conclusion for the unbelievably loyal fans of the Power Universe.' The original Power launched on Starz in 2014, and ended with Season 6 in 2020. That was followed by three spinoffs: Power Book II: Ghost (which aired four seasons and ended in October 2024), Power Book III: Raising Kanan (which will end with Season 5; premiere date TBA) and Power Book IV: Force (which will return for its third and final season this fall; premiere date TBA). A fourth offshoot, subtitled Influence and centered on slippery politician Rashad Tate, was called off in 2022. Two years later, Starz announced that Origins — which would delve into Ghost and Tommy's backstories, and presumably follow the events of Raising Kanan — was in active development, though there have been no further updates as of press time. ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan' to End With Season 5, Now Starring Shameik Moore
[This story contains spoilers for the season four finale of .] Power Book III: Raising Kanan season four just came to a close, but the previously announced season five is around the corner. To that end, we've got some good news and some bad news. More from The Hollywood Reporter Can Starz Scale? Now Split From Lionsgate, CEO Sets Sights on Major Subscriber Growth Starz Completes Separation From Lionsgate, Touts Focus on Women and Underrepresented Audiences Lionsgate Shareholders Vote to Approve Starz Spin Off From Studios The good: Shameik Moore has been cast as Branford 'Breeze' Frady. The fans have been waiting on that one. The bad: Power Book III: Raising Kanan season five will be its last. OK maybe it's not so bad; showrunner Sascha Penn says this was 'always' his 'intention.' 'It was always my intention that Raising Kanan would run for five seasons, and thanks to my friends and partners at Starz and Lionsgate, as well as the incredible cast, crew and writing staff, I've been able to tell the entirety of the story I set out to tell way back in 2019,' Penn said. 'Having said that, with the table we've set in this season finale and the inevitable introduction of Breeze, there is still an exceptionally intense and action-packed season left for the viewers to experience, and I assure you that the stakes for Kanan and the entire Thomas family have never been higher.' 'I'm very proud of this series,' he continued, 'and grateful that we've been able to see it through to what is an incredibly explosive and satisfying conclusion for the unbelievably loyal fans of the Power Universe.' Moore is pretty excited for it too. 'The Power Universe fans have been patiently anticipating this moment and I'm honored to step into the iconic role of Breeze,' he said in a statement. 'I jumped into a story that is already alive with such strong characters, but it was a fun challenge to find Breeze's unique identity, and I can't wait for fans to see how Breeze will shift dynamics in the story. It's gonna be a wild ride.' The name of Moore's character, a drug kingpin from Jamaica, Queens, has been out there in said Power universe since the very first season of the OG Power back in 2014. We learned back then that a young Kanan Stark worked for the mysterious Breeze, as did James 'Ghost' St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora). Well, in the season four finale of prequel series Raising Kanan, our young Kanan (MeKai Curtis) finally meets Breeze through street legends (and Kanan's aunt and uncle) Snaps (Wendell Pierce) and Pop (Erika Woods). Season four of Raising Kanan found Kanan reluctantly entering into a truce with his mother, drug queenpin Raquel 'Raq' Thomas (Patina Miller). 'With Unique (Joey Bada$$) back from the dead and pulling strings from the shadows, the hesitant trust between mother and son didn't last long, and their volatile relationship was tested once again, leading to another dramatic showdown in the season finale,' in Starz's words. In addition to Miller, Curtis, Bada$$, Pierce and Woods, Power Book III: Raising Kanan stars London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Hailey Kilgore and Tony Danza. Power Book III: Raising Kanan is the second Power spinoff, behind only Power Book II: Ghost. Courtney A. Kemp created the original Power with Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson and Mark Canton. Along with those three, Chris Selak and Kevin Fox also serve as executive producers on the franchise. Lionsgate Television produces Power Book III: Raising Kanan for Starz. ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan' Recap: Kanan Grows Desperate, Lou-Lou Wants Back In The Drug Game & Raq Enters The Dragon's Lair
Black America Web Featured Video CLOSE Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan Kanan (MeKai Curtis) is spiraling as he continues to lose people close to him, and Marvin (London Brown) is in big trouble with Raq (Patina Miller). After getting a taste last week, Lou-Lou (Malcolm Mays) is officially back in the game. Poor Krystal The episode opens by quickly revealing what happened to Krystal after she was snatched off the bus to Maryland by crooked cops employed by Snaps (Wendell Pierce) and Pop (Erika Woods). Kanan's boo is being held up in an apartment against her will where she is being beaten and drugged. When she wakes from a night in captivity, we see Pop roll up on her pretending to be a caring figure. Pop is trying to extract information from her by pretending to be nice so that she and her significant other can use to further their grip on the hustle game in Queens. Krystal reveals to Pop that Kanan is preparing a peanut butter sandwich for her and that Kanan doesn't know who killed Famous (Antonio Ortiz), and that he thinks his mother had something to do with his friend's murder. Kanan's distressed boo tells Pop that she has tried to tell her boyfriend that she doesn't believe it was Raq. Hearing everything she needs to know, a ruthless Pop shoots poor Krystal in the head while she is enjoying her peanut butter sandwich. Raq Surprises Kanan, The Police Press Lou-Lou & B-Rilla Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan Kanan and Jukebox (Hailey Kilgore) meet at the diner to assess what is happening. After a conversation with Krystal's cousins in Maryland, he learns his girlfriend never reached her final destination, and he is beginning to be worried. The conversation shifts in tone when Raq shows up, instantly making Kanan mad because Jukebox surprised him with this move, knowing he doesn't care for his mother. Meanwhile, at the studio, Lou-Lou, B-Rilla (Pardison Fontaine), and Imani receive a visit from the police, who ask questions about the shooting in front of the studio in the last episode, resulting in the well-deserved deaths of Kenyatta and Julius at the hands of Lou-Lou. All three say they know nothing about the shooting. Imani is stunned when Lou-Lou uses her as an alibi. The detectives then confirm that the bullets from the weapons match those of the guns used during the botched robbery and at Lowery's mansion. Lou-Lou adds that what happened outside the studio is connected with the robbery and has nothing to do with them. A disgusted Imani leaves as a cold and callous Lou-Lou looks on. When the cops leave, B-Rilla says the detectives don't know anything, with Lou-Lou adding that if he keeps his mouth shut, it will stay that way. Raq Makes Her Case To Kanan, Early Becomes An Issue For Marvin At the diner, Raq reveals to her son that she only wants to speak with him because Krystal comes to her worried that Kanan will do something stupid. So she implored Raq to reach out to Kanan. Kanan finally asks his mother if she had anything to do with Famous's death, but Raq shuts that down immediately. Raq then learns that Krystal is missing, and she tells Kanan that she also has nothing to do with that. Kanan is not pleased with the answer and storms out of the diner. Early (Chris Redd) decides to step to Marvin about his now-dead cousin, Londell, because he believes Marvin killed him. At first, Marvin plays dumb, but then taunts Early, asking him if he did kill Londell, what would Early do about it? Not feeling Marvin's answer, Early goes to see Stefano (Tony Danza) and snitches on him about Londell. Meanwhile, things get significantly worse for Raq's business when David is assassinated at a gay club by a mystery hitter played by Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson. Imani Tells Lou-Lou To Kick Rocks, Kanan Visits Unique Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan After being surprised when Lou-Lou used her as an alibi, she informed Lou-Lou she was done with him and no longer wanted to work with him. Strangely, we thought she liked him because he was a bad boy. Jukebox runs into Iesha, and the two grab a bite while flirting. She tells Jukebox she believes she can do whatever she puts her mind to, but Jukebox is happily on her family's path. We quickly learn the identity of David's killer, and it turns out he is a goon from New Jersey that Unique hired to take out Raq's business partner. Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan Unique gets another visitor when Kanan pops in, asking questions about Krystal. Unique tells Kanan he doesn't know anything about his girlfriend or O-Cee, which is a lie because he killed him last week. Kanan impresses Unique by proudly taking credit for killing Unique's brother, Ronnie (Grantham Coleman), telling Unique that he would do it again if he got the chance. Unique expresses interest in working with Kanan because he feels it could benefit them. Kanan leaves the tailor shop but does not know his mother is clocking him. Stefano Drops A Bombshell About Marvin, Lou-Lou Quits Music Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan Stefano meets with Raq and Marvin and agrees to help them move their drugs temporarily now that David is dead. Stefano then asks to speak with Raq alone because he has a bombshell to drop. Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan Stafano tells Raq that Early came by and said to him that Marvin instructed him to take his friend, who is a made man. Stefano says he believes Early. Stefano also lies and says that Marvin expressed taking over the business from Raq, conveniently leaving out that it was his idea for Marvin to take over. After the meeting, Raq tells Marvin that Stefano knows everything, and once again, he f***ed up. Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan Marvin tells Raq he will fix it, already killing Londell and possibly will be taking out Early now too. Lou-Lou's life is also changing swiftly. He speaks with Lowell, who wants to know what's happening now that Imani no longer wants to work with Lou-Lou. Eventually, Lou-Lou decides he doesn't want to work with the label now because, in his heart, he is still a 'street n***a.' Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan While hanging out with Iesha, Detective Garcia pops up on Jukebox and tells her that he will keep stalking her until she has some information to share with him. Marvin Saves Amber, Lou-Lou Is Officially Back In The Game Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan Marvin decides to check up on Amber and is shocked to learn that she hasn't been in school for a while. After bribing a school employee, he gets the address where Amber lives now and heads there. When Marvin arrives at the house he finds that Amber's parents are two junkies that have the little girl locked in a room with a crying infant. Marvin kills the two junkies and saves Amber and the baby and tells the little girl to call the cops and tell them a masked white boy came in there and killed her adoptive parents. Jukebox speaks with Kanan, who is growing frustrated after calling all the hospitals in the city and even visiting Krystal's father to see if he knows where she is. Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan Jukebox tries to reassure her cousin that everything will work out, but Kanan isn't buying it. She also tells him that she will contact someone who should be able to help them. That person was Detective Garcia, who confirmed the bad news that Krystal's body had been found, showing her a picture of the girl's corpse. Lou–Lou links up with Raq, and he tells her he wants back in the game. Source: Starz / Power Book III: Raising Kanan Raq hesitates, but she gives Lou-Lou another chance to slay dragons and tells him to 'strap up' because they are going into the dragon's lair. Kanan visits Snaps and Pop, hoping to get some answers about Krystal. Instead, they lie and tell him that Raq is responsible for Famous's death. The episode ends with Raq and Lou-Lou visiting Unique, telling her former lover, now nemesis, they need to talk, getting a smile out of him. 'Raising Kanan' season 4 episode 8 release delayed: New date, fan reactions, and what's coming next
twitter Fans of ' Power Book III: Raising Kanan ' were left disappointed this week as Season 4 Episode 8 did not arrive as expected. The new release date for this episode, titled "Truth of the Matter," is now set for May 2, 2025, and it will be available at 8 PM ET on Starz . As reported by several outlets, Starz has not shared an official reason for the delay. On their platforms, the show is simply marked as "on pause." While no clear explanation was given, this kind of unexpected break is becoming more common among TV networks and streaming services. Shows like 9-1-1 Season 8 and Chicago PD Season 12 are also experiencing similar pauses. In general, traditional networks often delay shows because of live sports or special events. However, Starz operates mainly as a streaming service and doesn't usually follow the same restrictions. This has led many fans to wonder whether the delay is tied to internal scheduling choices, production reasons, or even marketing strategies. Some online viewers have expressed frustration about the sudden pause. On Reddit and other forums, fans commented that such breaks make it harder to stay connected to the storyline. One user said they dislike when shows take "break weeks" without a real reason, while another shared that waiting after each gap makes it difficult to stay excited. A few even suggested that streaming platforms do this on purpose to keep subscribers from canceling before a season ends. Despite the delay, viewers still have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming episode. Based on previews, Episode 8 will pick up the intense story as Raq continues her mission to take back power in the streets. Her enemies are getting closer, and the situation is becoming more dangerous. Teaser scenes have shown gunfire and rising tension, which suggests that major events will unfold in this part of the season. For those following the show, all previous episodes of 'Raising Kanan' Season 4 are available to stream on Starz. With Episode 8 just around the corner, fans won't have to wait much longer to see how the story moves forward. The delay may have caused some frustration, but excitement for the rest of the season remains high. Fans are now counting down the days until May 2, hoping the next episode delivers the action and drama they've been waiting for.
