Power Book III: Raising Kanan to End With Season 5 — But Is This the Final Chapter for the Starz Franchise?
Power Book III is gearing up for its final chapter — which may or may not mark the end of the Power franchise as we know it.
Starz on Friday announced that Power Book III: Raising Kanan will conclude with Season 5. The news was revealed in conjunction with the prequel series' Season 4 finale, which introduced Shameik Moore (Wu-Tang: An American Saga) as the oft-mentioned, but never-before-seen Branford 'Breeze' Frady.

'It was always my intention that Raising Kanan would run for five seasons, and thanks to my friends and partners at Starz and Lionsgate, as well as the incredible cast, crew and writing staff, I've been able to tell the entirety of the story I set out to tell way back in 2019,' executive producer Sascha Penn said in a statement provided to our sister site Deadline. 'Having said that, with the table we've set in this season finale and the inevitable introduction of Breeze, there is still an exceptionally intense and action-packed season left for the viewers to experience, and I assure you that the stakes for Kanan and the entire Thomas family have never been higher. I'm very proud of this series, and grateful that we've been able to see it through to what is an incredibly explosive and satisfying conclusion for the unbelievably loyal fans of the Power Universe.'
The original Power launched on Starz in 2014, and ended with Season 6 in 2020. That was followed by three spinoffs: Power Book II: Ghost (which aired four seasons and ended in October 2024), Power Book III: Raising Kanan (which will end with Season 5; premiere date TBA) and Power Book IV: Force (which will return for its third and final season this fall; premiere date TBA).
A fourth offshoot, subtitled Influence and centered on slippery politician Rashad Tate, was called off in 2022. Two years later, Starz announced that Origins — which would delve into Ghost and Tommy's backstories, and presumably follow the events of Raising Kanan — was in active development, though there have been no further updates as of press time.

Boston Blue: Everything We Know So Far About the Blue Bloods Offshoot
At least one Reagan family member's story will continue to be told when Boston Blue debuts on CBS. Ordered to series on Feb. 18 — two months after Blue Bloods ended its well-watched, 14-season run — Boston Blue finds franchise vet Donnie Wahlberg reprising his role as veteran police detective Danny Reagan. Boston Blue since Day 1 has been described as a 'universe expansion of the long-running top drama Blue Bloods,' in part because its premise was born of an entirely unrelated project. As Deadline reported, the only Donnie Wahlberg-led Blue Bloods offshoot that had been pitched (but got passed on) would have transplanted Danny Reagan to Texas. Boston Blue showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, meanwhile, had independently developed a series that would follow a family of cops in Boston whose eldest daughter is partnered with a new transfer from LAPD. NYPD vet Danny is now that transfer. In Boston Blue, Donnie Wahlberg's Danny Reagan takes a position with the Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Silvers, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family. Thus far, Donnie Wahlberg is the only Blue Bloods vet confirmed to appear on the spinoff universe expansion — though there surely will be mentions of the Reagan fam and friends back in New York, if not some flesh-and-blood cameos… eventually. 'Danny's story will continue the Reagan family's. You can't have Danny without Reagans,' Wahlberg said at a May press event. 'No Blue Bloods fans will be disappointed,' Wahlberg avowed, reiterating: 'We are really working on this universe in a way that I think the Blue Bloods viewers are going to be very happy.' First and foremost, Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery, The Walking Dead) will star alongside Donnie Wahlberg as Detective Lena Silver, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family. Additionally, Ernie Hudson (NBC's Quantum Leap reboot) has been cast as Lena's grandfather, Reverend Peters, a renowned pastor of a historic Baptist church in Boston, while Psych vet Maggie Lawson will play Boston PD Superintendent Sarah Silver, Lena's 'strong-willed' and 'decisive' stepsister. At least two other series regulars have yet to be cast. Fact is, precious few scripted TV series have ever made camp in Boston, with Robert Urich's mid-1980s crime drama, Spenser: For Hire, being one of the exceptions. ABC' A Million Little Things (see photo above) was famously set in Boston (however devoid as it was of any accents) but filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. Even Blue Bloods patriarch Tom Selleck's Massachusetts-based Jesse Stone TV movies were filmed in Nova Scotia. Boston Blue will film some exteriors in Boston, but production will be based out of Toronto, Ontario (that's in Canada). When CBS unveiled its fall schedule, there Boston Blue was, confirmed for a fall debut and calling Blue Bloods' old Fridays-at-10/9c time slot home. There, Boston Blue will lead out of Sheriff Country and that freshman spinoff's sire, Fire Country. CBS typically sets fall premieres dates by mid-July, and TVLine will of course keep you posted on when, exactly, Boston Blue will debut. Next-Level Role Play: Buying a Nintendo Power-Up Band or Harry Potter Wands at Epic Universe? Here's What to Know
You can battle the infamous Bowser with general park admission, but you'll need a $40 NFC-infused slap bracelet to fight his son. Universal's Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, Florida. uses tech to create extra levels of immersion in theme parks. Guests feel like they're the main character in different lands. But going deeper in a story can cost more, as with the Power-Up Bands of Super Nintendo World. They keep score and unlock new levels, but they aren't included in the price of entry. Over at a new Harry Potter land, set in 1920s Paris, wands starting at $65 can perform new tricks and cause a stir with improvisational actors walking around. More advanced wands can track your progress on an app and reveal new secrets in alleyways. I visited Epic Universe during its grand opening in May to learn more about how the tech works and talk to the teams behind the design of this next evolution in theme park design, which you can watch in the video embedded above. I was on a quest to find out if it really is worth the extra cost for these accessories, and certainly some reveals are more rewarding than others. These theme parks are becoming a living video game of sorts as you go on side quests, talking to characters in the land and trying to find new hallways and sensors to activate. A lot can be done in the parks without these gadgets, but if you have time to explore (and a spirit of role play and patience to try a few times), tech really does take immersion to another level. And thankfully, you don't need to pull out your phone to start unlocking the extras (but you can if you want to). Perhaps we're more programmed to just jump in and understand the tech without thinking about the tech when we're exposed to video games and virtual entertainment in the real world. When I eventually do take my kids to see this place, I feel like I would be missing out without getting a band or wand -- but not everyone in your party will necessarily need one to get a kick out of it.
