Former This Is Us star Chrissy Metz debuts 45kg weight loss

Chrissy Metz turned heads at Variety's Power of Women event in Nashville, proudly displaying her 45kg weight loss. The 44-year-old actress, who recently spoke about her health journey, stepped out in a colourful pastel mini dress featuring shades of pink, blue, and yellow. Her outfit, perfect for spring, included a V-neckline with ruffled detailing and short sleeves for a playful, feminine touch. The This Is Us star completed her ensemble with a stylish twist — white cowboy boots that added a bold flair to her look. Her appearance comes nearly a month after she shared new details about her approach to health and fitness, including the workout technique she credits with helping her stay in shape. In a one-on-one interview with Metz opened up about her routine, revealing her renewed commitment to strength training. 'I have always enjoyed strength training. I've always enjoyed lifting weights,' she said, adding that she prefers it over traditional cardio exercises. 'I don't want to run unless I'm being chased,' she joked while discussing her second children's book, When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings. Metz also spoke fondly of her trainer, who has been through his own weight loss transformation, something she finds especially motivating. 'We have things in common where it's not just like, 'Why are you doing this?' Like, I don't want to be yelled at. I want to be lovingly supported in whatever it is that I'm doing,' she shared about their sessions. Beyond personal support, Metz says she's also driven by a long-term goal: maintaining her health as she ages. 'I want to age the best way that I can, and I want to be strong. And that's really the impetus behind any of it,' she emphasised. Living in Nashville, Metz explained that concerns about ageing conditions like osteoporosis and arthritis are a big part of why she prioritises her wellbeing. 'I'm literally doing it because I am nervous about ageing, about osteoporosis or arthritis, you know, and because they are now discovering so much about health overall [and] it's really about being and staying strong and flexible.' Her workout schedule may shift depending on her calendar, but she brings full enthusiasm to any new interest — whether it's exercising, gardening, or woodworking. She 'loves to go ham, all in,' and 'chip away just a little bit every day.' When asked her opinion on the use of Ozempic, Metz responded with a balanced, respectful view. 'It's something I feel is so personal.' 'I think if you're not hurting anybody, and you're not hurting yourself, you should do what you feel is right for your body or your mind or whatever.' The Power of Women Nashville brunch, hosted by Melissa Joan Hart, spotlighted powerful speeches celebrating the vital role of women — particularly in the world of country music.

Mariska Hargitay Announces New Documentary About Her Late Mother Jayne Mansfield: 'Strength in Vulnerability'

Mariska Hargitay's latest project is personal. The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star announced on Tuesday, April 8 that she's been working on My Mom Jayne, a documentary about the life of her late mother, Hollywood icon Jayne Mansfield. In a joint Instagram post with Hargitay, 61, HBO noted the project is defined by "strength in vulnerability," and added that the documentary is about Hargitay "embracing... the mother she never knew." Related: Mariska Hargitay Remembers Her Famous Mom: 'All I Have to Do Is Look in the Mirror' Hargitay, who directed the documentary, which premieres in June, was on a mission to get to know Mansfield on her own, as an adult, some 57 years after her mother's tragic death. Mansfield would've turned 92 on April 19. View this post on Instagram A post shared by HBO (@hbo) When Hargitay was just three years old, she, along with her two older brothers, survived the car wreck that killed Mansfield, then just 34, in 1967. Hargitay, who shares three children with her husband of 20 years Peter Hermann, has spoken often about her mother's posthumous influence on her life. During her speech as an honoree at Variety's Power of Women event in New York in May 2024, Hargitay celebrated fellow honorees Anitta, Shonda Rhimes and Amy Schumer. The latter, dressed in what the SVU star described as a 'glorious sequiny pink dress,' received a special shoutout from the actress. When Hargitay saw Schumer, 42, in her gown, she said she 'immediately thought' of Mansfield, who famously loved the color pink, telling the Trainwreck star, 'I feel like my mom's here with me.' 'Because you're Jayne Mansfield incarnate right now, so thank you for that,' she said to Schumer. 'I always look for signs, and she's here and she's today with me.' On special occasions, Hargitay herself will often channel her mom through fashion. When she received Glamour's Women of the Year award in 2021, she rocked a pink one-shoulder Valentino number. Related: Mariska Hargitay Applauds 'Work Mothers' Jane Fonda and Ellen Burstyn: 'They're the Advocates in Me' (Exclusive) Then, in October 2023, Hargitay was honored with an award from the Women's Media Center. Prior to the start of the ceremony, Hargitay found herself taking photos with organization co-founder Jane Fonda on the red carpet — and listening to photographers yell their names in tandem. The moment wasn't lost on Hargitay, who turned to whisper something to Fonda on the carpet, and later took a moment in her acceptance speech to honor the serendipity. 'I met the magnificent Jane Fonda tonight, who obviously is one of my heroes and mentors. And as the photographers were standing in front of me, they said, 'Mariska, Jane. Mariska, Jane,'' the actress explained. 'And so I thank you for that moment and I thank you for being able to stand next to you, and I also feel that you invoked my mother here tonight," she continued, lauding Fonda. "I thank you for that, and I bring her in here in this moment because I think she would love this night.' And, as recently as September 2024, even Hargitay's photoshoot for Interview Magazine was inspired by shots of the famous screen siren. My Mom Jayne isn't Hargitay's first foray into the documentary world, either. In 2017, the multi-hyphenate produced Emmy-winning I Am Evidence about the rape kit backlog in the United States. The actress is also still chasing down perps on the streets of New York City as Captain Olivia Benson on SVU, which is currently in it's record-breaking 26th season on NBC, and she continues to work closely with her foundation Joyful Heart, which she launched in 2004 with a focus on healing and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. Ukrainian officer and poet Maksym Yemets killed in action

Maksym "Raccoon" Yemets, an officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has been killed in action on the Pokrovsk front in Donetsk Oblast. Source: Oksana Rubaniak, Maksym's beloved, a Ukrainian soldier and writer Details: "This isn't how we wanted to share our story, nor how it was meant to be. So many plans and dreams left unrealised. A house in the suburbs, children, a family. And growing old together for more than 60 years, you wouldn't settle for less. Stubborn, just like me. And also tender, caring, loving, beloved. My only love. My peace of mind. My universe," Oksana wrote. Maksym Yemets, 30, from Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, joined the war in 2014 at just 19. He shared his story with Front18, a Ukrainian media project focused on countering information attacks in the Russo-Ukrainian war. He volunteered with the UNSO (Ukrainian People's Self-Defence) battalion before serving in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade and the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade. Maksym fought in the fierce battles of Ilovaisk and Debaltseve, among the deadliest of the 2014 Donbas War. He spent nearly his entire adult life at war, rising from soldier to company commander. Maksym was decorated with the Order for Courage, III class. He posted his last poem on social media the day before he was killed. Oksana said she met her husband on the front line. Recently, they had both been on duty near Pokrovsk, allowing them to see each other more often. Maksym and Oksana on duty "I always looked forward to seeing you, willing to travel halfway across the country. You hurried to meet me too, often taking risks on dangerous roads from the contact line – because you promised you would come. Despite the distance and our duties, we always found a way to see each other – we made the impossible happen. We were always in a hurry, always searching for a chance. And yesterday, I was searching for your body, just to see you, just to be with you. I found you, and we met. But you didn't look at me anymore – and you never will again," Oksana says with a heavy heart. Oksana has promised to publish a collection of poems to tell the world about Maksym. Ukrainian veteran Stepan Savchuk also shared his memories of his first commander, Raccoon. "He always told me, 'Don't worry, we'll make it'. He was never afraid to take risks, going where others wouldn't dare. I accepted him, quirks and all, and he respected me because I always told him the truth, no matter what. We lived together in the basements of Lysychansk, coming out of the semi-surrender, and he protected me, helping as much as he could. He was seriously wounded more than once and had a disability. He could have left the service at any time, but he gave away the most – his life," Stepan wrote on social media.
