PM likely to visit Kutch, Dahod on May 26
Gandhinagar: State education minister Praful Pansheriya, who is also the minister in charge of Kutch district, reviewed preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's likely visit on May 26. This will be the PM's first visit to the state after Operation Sindoor . Apart from visiting Bhuj, the PM is also expected to visit Dahod district. A govt release stated that Pansheriya held a meeting with Kutch collector Anand Patel and other district administration officials on Monday. The release added that details of the PM's programme and various preparations were discussed. The minister and district administration officials also visited the venue on Bhuj-Mirzapar Road and inspected various arrangements. State govt officials said that the PM will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a number of development projects during his visit. Govt sources said that the PM will also visit Dahod on the same day, where he will inaugurate several development projects. The PM is expected to address public gatherings at both places.

Gujarat Board Class 12 Results Out, Over 93% Students Clear General Stream
The Gujarat State Education Board (GSEB) on Monday declared the results of its higher secondary or Class 12 exams. According to the board, a pass percentage of 83.15 per cent has been recorded for Class 12 science stream, while 93.7 per cent to the general stream. In the general stream, Banaskantha district is at the top while the lowest result is from Vadodara district. On the other hand, in the science stream, Morbi district is at the top while the lowest result is from Dahod district. The results have also been posted on the board's official website The online facility will allow students to check and download their virtual marksheets that can be kept for record till schools distribute the actual physical score cards. GSEB has also launched a WhatsApp number 6357300971 to help students get their result faster. "Congratulations to all the students who have passed the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board's Standard-12 Science Stream, General Stream, Vocational Stream, U.U.B. Stream, GUJCET-2025 and Sanskrit Madhyama examinations and best wishes for a bright future," he said in a post on X. To check their results, students need to enter the seat number allotted to them in the exam hall on the official website and the result will be displayed. This year, the science stream exams were held from February 20 to March 10, while the general stream exams ended on March 17. In the GSEB board exams for 2025, approximately 14.3 lakh students are registered for the Class 10 and Class 12 exams. Out of this, 4.23 lakh students appeared for Class 12 general stream, and 1.11 lakh for Class 12 science stream.

CM emphasises role of school management committees to improve education quality
Gandhinagar: Gujarat chief minister on Thursday conducted a video conference with approximately 4.25 lakh School Management Committee (SMC) members representing govt, primary, and secondary schools across the state. He urged their participation to improve educational quality in village schools. Education Minister Kuber Dindor and minister of state for education Praful Pansheriya also participated in the event. The CM sought suggestions from SMC members during the interactive session while highlighting the govt's dedication to contemporary education. He noted that teachers now need to focus on comprehensive education and emphasised that SMCs should assist teachers in improving educational standards in local schools. Patel urged SMC members to hold regular meetings and evaluate various aspects, including school infrastructure, student attendance, and academic performance. The chief minister instructed teachers and community leaders to implement the nine resolutions for Viksit Bharat at the primary education level. These include initiatives like 'Catch the Rain', 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', promoting exercise for health, cleanliness, disease-free living, and natural farming.

RTE reservation: Over 86,000 students allotted seats in 9,741 private schools after first round of admissions
At the end of the first round of admissions for 25 per cent reserved seats under the Right to Education Act (RTE), 86,274 students were allotted seats against the total available seats of 93,860 in 9,741 private schools in Gujarat. As many as 7,586 reserved seats are vacant after the end of first round of seat allotment. Parents have to confirm their admissions by May 7 by submitting required documents at the schools allotted for their children. Of the 86,274 seats, while the maximum number has been alloted to 32,267 children from Anganwadi centres in the state, children from SEBC/OBC categories have been alloted 18,383 seats. On March 15, for the admission for academic session 2025-26, Minister of State for Education Praful Pansheriya had announced an increase in the income limit for admission under the RTE Act to Rs 6 lakh per annum from Rs 1.5 lakh per annum for beneficiaries — the new limit being applicable for both rural and urban sectors. With this announcement, the state government had also extended the deadline for applications to April 15 from March 16. Of the 2,38,916 applications received, 45,993 (nearly 50 per cent of the total available seats) were received after the state government increased the income limit for children under the RTE Act, mandating a reservation of 25 per cent seats. As per details shared by the Education Department on Monday, 48,490 children have been allotted seats in Gujarati medium schools, followed by 36,861 in English medium private schools in the state. While 748 children were alloted seats in Hindi medium schools, 117 in Marathi medium, 40 in Odiya and 18 got seats in Urdu medium private schools. Of the total seats available across 33 districts and seven cities, the highest number of seats are in Surat city (15,239), followed by Ahmedabad city (14,778), Vadodara city (4,846), Rajkot city (4,445) and Surat city (3,913).
