Gujarat Education Department relaunches nine upgraded websites for public access
The initiative was led by Higher and Technical Education Minister Rushikesh Patel, with Minister of State for Primary, Secondary and Adult Education Praful Pansheriya gracing the occasion.
Developed at a cost of Rs 50.11 lakh, the revamped websites are designed to provide citizens and students with swift and convenient digital access to key information such as education-related resolutions, policies, circulars, scholarship details, government schemes, and the latest initiatives in the sector.
Speaking at the event, Minister Rushikesh Patel said the project aligns with the Viksit Bharat@2047 and Viksit Gujarat@2047 vision, highlighting the state government's priority to strengthen digital infrastructure for governance and service delivery.
"These websites will ensure that vital education-related information reaches the public quickly and transparently," he noted.
Minister Praful Pansheriya added that the upgraded portals will make details of scholarship programmes, state education policies, and new initiatives easily accessible to students and stakeholders, promoting greater inclusivity in the dissemination of information.
The nine websites relaunched today include the portals of the Commissioner of Higher Education, NCC Directorate, Directorate of Primary Education, Directorate of Continuing Education and Literacy, State Examination Board, Gujarat Institute of Educational Technology, Gujarat State School Textbook Board, and the Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training.
In the 2025–26 Gujarat state budget, state Finance Minister Kanu Desai has earmarked a substantial Rs 59,999 crore for the education sector.
Among the key allocations are Rs 2,914 crore for the Mission Schools of Excellence (upgrading 25,000 classrooms), Rs 1,250 crore for the Namo Lakshmi Yojana, Rs 782 crore for RTE (private school admissions), and ₹250 crore for the Namo Saraswati Science Scheme benefiting approximately 2.5 lakh students.
Additional investments include Rs 617 crore for nutritious midday meals, Rs 175 crore for AI labs in technical institutions, Rs 100 crore for the newly proposed Gujarat Institute of Technology (GIT), and funding for scholarships, smart classrooms, and recruitment of 22,000 teachers, reflecting a broad-based strategy to modernise education across the state.

Himachal CM launches sapling drive with a target to cover 9,000 hectares in forests
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu on Thursday inaugurated the 76th state-level Van-Mahotsav in the Kanlog area of Shimla by planting a deodar sapling. The plantation drive has a budgetary provision of Rs 100 crore with a target to cover 9,000 hectares in forests. The Chief Minister also launched the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojna across all Assembly constituencies and virtually interacted with ministers and legislators and discussed forest conservation and afforestation measures in detail. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Van Mahotsav highlighted the importance of forests, often called the Earth's lifeline. 'This year, around 9,000 hectares of forests would be planted with saplings that comprised fruit-bearing ones.' He said the government has been working to protect and enrich rich biodiversity. These efforts would contribute to achieve the target of increasing 30 per cent forest cover by 2030. The Chief Minister said the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojna would not only promote forest development but also enhance public participation and strengthen the rural economy. Under this scheme, mahila mandals, yuvak mandals, self-help groups and joint forest committees would plant and look after saplings on one to five hectares of designated forest land for five years. This year, saplings are being planted across 1,000 to 1,500 hectares at a cost of Rs 20 crore. An additional Rs 1.2 lakh per hectare is being provided for sapling maintenance, said the Chief Minister. He said the government is also focusing on financial discipline for 'vyavastha parivartan' and introducing reforms in the working of the Forest Department. The officers were being encouraged to dedicate more time to fieldwork related to forest expansion and conservation rather than office routines. The Chief Minister said the government is implementing schemes that provide rural communities with self-employment opportunities near their homes, thereby strengthening their livelihoods. He said the initiatives of the government in natural farming are also being recognized and appreciated nationally. He gave cheques for Rs 1,00,000 each to mahila mandals for sapling plantation under the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojna. Also cheques for Rs 50,000 each have also been distributed under JICA project to the beneficiaries for livelihood.

‘We need to stay away from the British divide and rule policy': Tripura CM Manik Sahan ahead of I-Day
Ahead of Independence Day, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday urged everyone to learn from the history of the Partition, stay united to protect India from division, and work together to achieve the dream of Viksit Bharat by 2047. 'We need to think about the kind of problems that occur due to division. If we are not united in the future and the country is divided again, what will be the situation? So, to keep brotherhood intact, the prime minister has set the target of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. Along the lines of the Viksit Bharat 2047 dream that the PM has seen, we are also trying to create a Viksit Tripura. It will be possible if we work together,' he said while speaking at a Partition Horrors Remembrance Day event at Maharaja Bir Bikram College in Agartala. 'Even today, such incidents happen in our society. Riots were orchestrated in different ways… Having learnt lessons from history, we will not allow division. We need to stay away from the British divide and rule policy,' he said. Recalling the struggle for independence, Saha said many people were killed, many women were raped, many children were still missing, and many people were displaced. 'We always think about ourselves. If we read history, it teaches us many things about our present and future,' he said. Saha said the British policy of 'divide and rule' had led to Hindu-Muslim riots. 'Such riots don't happen because of religion, but the real reason is political,' the BJP leader said. Saha later wrote on X that the Partition was a painful scar inflicted on the body of a newly independent nation, adding that the then rulers divided the nation for their own interests, 'driven by the two-nation theory'. 'To bring this traumatic chapter to the forefront for the new generation, today addressed the main event of the 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' organized by the Higher Education department at the Rabindra Hall of Maharaja Bir Bikram College,' he wrote. Saha further wrote that the Kashmiri Pandits faced persecution at the hands of militants and Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee never wanted the Partition but said that if India was to be divided, Bengal had to be divided. 'It's because of him, the Hindu Bengalis got a place. Many people from both East Pakistan and West Pakistan came here after leaving their houses, properties and from India, Muslims went there,' he added in the X post.

The company has acquired a 75 per cent stake for 233.25 million Australian dollars, about Rs 1,336 crore, through a transaction in Telstra Purple Pty, the filing said. What Is Versent Group? According to the filing, Versent Group is Telstra Purple Pty Ltd and is the integration of Versent, Epicon, Telstra Purple Digital and associated Cloud Access products. Infosys will have operational control, while Telstra will continue to retain a 25 per cent minority stake in Versent Group. 'This strategic collaboration will see Versent Group's cloud and digital transformation expertise boosted by Infosys' advanced AI capabilities, Cloud, Data and Digital consulting services.
