Derek McInnes' Kilmarnock squad message ahead of Hearts move

Killie and Hearts actually meet on the final day of the Scottish Premiership season on Sunday and it has been agreed McInnes will not take charge of the Ayrshire men because of the awkward situation it would present. That means the defeat to Motherwell on Wednesday night was his last game as Kilmarnock manager and he was back in on Thursday to say his goodbyes. Youngster David Watson was given his chance in the first-team by the former Aberdeen boss and has nothing but admiration for him. And he detailed how that last meeting between McInnes and his players went. Nothing but respect for the guy, he gave me my first start in SPFL and he's took us from the Championship to playing in Copenhagen, so I wish him all the best. He's been absolutely brilliant for us. 'He's given me my first start in SPFL, he's kind of kick started my career into what it's been so far and I'm nearly reaching my 100 game mark and most of them have been under him, so I'm nothing but thankful for him. Everybody liked him, we all got along good, we had a great togetherness within the staff and the players, but that's football, we just need to move on now and we're looking ahead to the game on Sunday.

Celtic hero gets Premiership trophy honour at Parkhead

The Hoops be in party mode for the final game of another season in which they've won the league, and could yet seal another Treble. The most decorated Celt of all time, Forrest, will be the man who brings the trophy out in front of a rapturous support pre-match, according to the Scottish Sun. That will be after manager Brendan Rodgers places it on the plinth at Celtic Way outside the ground. If Forrest scores against the Buddies it will ensure the historic achievement in scoring in each of the last 16 seasons for the Buddies. When told by a reporter he was "sentimental" and felt Forrest should start again, the Northern Irishman smiled: "Yeah, I'm not! Oh, he was so good. "He doesn't have to score, it would be great if he does. He's definitely trying, he's getting into some great areas. "He was unfortunate in the first half, he chopped inside with his left foot. But, no, his performance level's really, really high. And if it comes, great. "If it doesn't, he's still performing and contributing for the team."

Daizen Maeda is the hot favourite to scoop the prize, as he leads the assisting charts with 10 and is the joint top scorer with 16 goals. Maeda's Hoops teammate Nicolas Kuhn is also nominated, having been an early favourite to win for his form earlier in the season, before tailing off in 2025. And Callum McGregor completes the hat-trick of Celts nominees, looking to be named Player of the Year for the second time after his win in 2021/22. The fourth and final man up for the award is Dundee hitman Simon Murray, who is level with Maeda for goals and is the main factor keeping the Dens Park side out of the relegation zone. A whole host of prizes are also being dished out, with the first gong of the night going to the League Two Player of the Year. The winner was East Fife's Alan Trouten, the division's top scorer with 23 goals, despite Dick Campbell's side falling into the promotion playoffs and being beaten to the title by Peterhead. The League One Player of the Year did come from that division's champions though. Arbroath coasted to the title ahead of Cove Rangers, and midfielder Fraser Taylor, who led the assist count with 12, was given the nod. The second tier was wrapped up in dramatic fashion on Friday night, and the Championship Player of the Year again went to a man from the newly-crowned champions. Arne Engels was Celts' record signing in the summer and the 21-year-old was put on the shortlist, as was a new arrival for Gers, 22-year-old Hamza Igamane. The other young guns in contention are Motherwell star Lennon Miller, 18, and Hearts' own 18-year-old ace James Wilson.
