Reading sign attacking midfielder Kyerewaa

Reading have signed free agent Daniel Kyerewaa following the expiration of his contract with German second-tier side Preussen Munster. Last season he made 21 appearances across all competitions for Preussen Munster, scoring three goals and assisting once. "Daniel is a really exciting addition to our group," Royals boss Noel Hunt said. "He's got a great engine, he's creative and he's played in a strong development environment in Germany. "We believe he's got the tools and the drive to make a big impact here."

Loris Karius ‘made the difference' for Schalke after year without playing

Loris Karius 'made the difference' for Schalke after keeping a clean sheet in his first appearance in over a year, the club's head coach Kees van Wonderen said. Karius played the full 90 minutes in Schalke's 1-0 win over Preussen Munster in 2. Bundesliga on Friday, his first match since February 24, 2024, when he played in Newcastle United's 4-1 Premier League defeat at Arsenal. Advertisement The 31-year-old joined Schalke in January, after six months without a club, and had been second choice to Justin Heekeren until Friday night's match, when he made his first appearance in German football since 2021 when playing for Union Berlin. The former Liverpool goalkeeper made a string of important saves for Schalke including a double save in the last minute from Niko Koulis and then David Kinsombi to ensure his side's victory. 'It's always a difficult decision (to change the goalkeeper). But he's been here for two months and today he showed that he can make the difference,' Van Wonderen said following the win. 'I'm happy for Schalke, for the team and for him. 'Our goalkeeper made the difference today.' Karius told Sky in Germany after the match: 'For a goalkeeper, it's always good if you can distinguish yourself. I tried to give the team security and to defuse what came at the goal. 'But that's my job, I would be disappointed if I didn't make those saves. That was fine for the debut.' Preussen Munster head coach Sascha Hildmann also praised the performance of Karius: 'We hit the post, the crossbar, and an overhead kick, and the opposing goalkeeper was the best player.' Schalke are currently 12th in the 18-team league, nine points above the relegation play-off and nine points behind the Bundesliga promotion play-off, in third.
