Andhra govt drops action against retired IPS officer Venkateswara Rao
Amaravati, Jul 15 (PTI) The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday decided to drop all further action against retired IPS officer A B Venkateswara Rao after the high court quashed an FIR and a chargesheet filed against him. Rao, who had served as Additional Director General of Police (intelligence), was booked under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 511 (commit offences) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 during the tenure of the previous YSRCP government.

National Medical Commission blacklists 4 senior doctors over bribery allegations
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed an FIR on June 30 under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, against the doctors working as assessors with the NMC, some medical colleges and private persons, the commission said in a statement. New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) The National Medical Commission (NMC) has blacklisted four senior doctors working as assessors for allegedly accepting bribes, pending investigation and final verdict in the matter. 'It is reiterated that the commission views such matters very seriously and has decided to blacklist the said four assessors, pending investigation and final verdict in the matter,' the statement said. It has also been decided that the renewal of the existing number of undergraduate and postgraduate seats of six medical colleges shall not be done for the academic year 2025-26. Further, the application for increasing seats and starting new courses for both UG and PG received by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board for 2025-26 from these colleges shall be cancelled and not processed further, the statement said. 'All medical colleges/stakeholders are advised to conform strictly to the NMC Rules and Regulations and uphold the ethos of quality medical education, professionalism and public trust,' it said. Inspector caught red-handedtaking Rs 15,000 bribe in Jhansi
Jhansi: A police inspector was caught red-handed by the anti-corruption department here on Thursday while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. Inspector Vineet Kumar, posted at Mauranipur police station, approximately eighty km from the district headquarters, initially demanded Rs 40,000 from the complainant regarding an FIR related to a fight. According to anti-corruption team leader Thakur Das, a complaint was received from Abhishek Yadav of Mailoni village. In his complaint, Abhishek stated that on June 28 there was a fight between his father Jwala Prasad and one Brijkishore. During the altercation, Jwala sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured leg. Both parties filed cases against each other, with Vineet Kumar designated as the investigating officer . During the course of the investigation, Abhishek requested strict action against the opponents, at which point Vineet allegedly said that certain sections of the FIR needed to be increased. For this, Vineet is said to have demanded Rs 40,000 as bribe. After some negotiation, it was agreed to pay Rs 15,000 in advance, with the remainder to be given after the work was completed. The victim called the inspector to Ambedkar crossing in Mauranipur. As soon as the victim handed over the money to Vineet, the anti-corruption team members rushed to the spot and apprehended the police inspector, who was in uniform, red-handed along with the pre-marked currency notes in the presence of a couple of independent witnesses nominated by the district magistrate. The team brought Vineet to Jhansi and registered a case against him under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Premnagar police station. Vineet will be taken to Lucknow, where he will be produced before the special court for prevention of corruption on Friday.

Lokayukta registers corruption case over fraudulent health dept appointment in Ujjain
Ujjain: Following a complaint regarding illegal appointments, the Lokayukta investigation registered a case against Dr. Dilip Nagar, the then joint director of the health department, and Lalit Kishore Sharma, who was appointed as the district fluorosis advisor. Both are charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 , sections 13(1)(a), 13(2), and 120, and section 420 of the Indian Penal Code in Ujjain district. This appointment was made under the National Health Mission. Lokayukta inspector Deepak Sejwar stated that in 2023, complainant Lalsingh Parmar reported that under the National Health Mission, Lalit Kishore Sharma was currently appointed as the district fluorosis advisor at the CMHO office in Shajapur district. His appointment in 2009 as District fluorosis advisor at the CMHO office in Ujjain was made by Dr Dilip Nagar, the then joint director of health services, Ujjain Division, based on a letter from the chief medical and health officer, Ujjain district. During Dr KK Agrawal's tenure, Sharma was appointed by forging signatures on the CMHO's seal. New Delhi: Delhi Police has registered a case and launched an investigation against a sub-inspector at North Avenue police station on bribery charges for allegedly demanding money from a man's family to facilitate his anticipatory bail. Police reported that a quarrel broke out between two parties last year, leading to the registration of an FIR. One of the suspects later applied for anticipatory bail and the accused officer allegedly threatened his family, demanding the bribe. The incident came to light during a May 7 hearing in Delhi High Court regarding a case involving the brawl between two groups of Inderpuri residents near RML Hospital's gate no. 5 on Oct 19-20, 2024. The suspect, who was declared a proclaimed offender, applied for anticipatory bail. During the proceedings, his counsel alleged that the investigating officer (IO), the sub-inspector, had blackmailed the suspect's relatives and demanded a bribe to influence the bail process.
