National Medical Commission blacklists 4 senior doctors over bribery allegations
New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) The National Medical Commission (NMC) has blacklisted four senior doctors working as assessors for allegedly accepting bribes, pending investigation and final verdict in the matter.
'It is reiterated that the commission views such matters very seriously and has decided to blacklist the said four assessors, pending investigation and final verdict in the matter,' the statement said.
It has also been decided that the renewal of the existing number of undergraduate and postgraduate seats of six medical colleges shall not be done for the academic year 2025-26.
Further, the application for increasing seats and starting new courses for both UG and PG received by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board for 2025-26 from these colleges shall be cancelled and not processed further, the statement said.
'All medical colleges/stakeholders are advised to conform strictly to the NMC Rules and Regulations and uphold the ethos of quality medical education, professionalism and public trust,' it said. PTI PLB RHL

4 bombs will go off at BSE, says email by ‘Comrade Pinari Vijayan'; Mumbai police register FIR
The MRA Marg police registered a First Information Report (FIR) after the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) received an email on Sunday from a person, who identified himself as 'Comrade Pinari Vijayan', claiming that four bombs were placed inside the building. An employee saw the email on Monday and alerted the authorities, following which the premises were checked and the threat was found to be a hoax. An investigation is on to identify the accused. The BSE was one of the sites of the 1993 bomb blasts that killed 257 people. According to the police, the email mentioned that four RDX Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) had been placed at BSE's Phiroze towers and they would go off at 3 pm. 'However, since it was a Sunday and there was no one in the building, the employee only saw the email on Monday and alerted officials, following which due procedure was followed and the building was checked. Nothing suspicious was found,' an officer said. The police later registered the FIR under sections 351 (1), 353(2), 351(3), 351(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita that deals with criminal intimidation by anonymous communication. An official said the crime branch is now trying to trace the IP address from which the email had been sent in order to track down the sender of the email. The officer added that there have been an increasing number of hoax threat emails and calls in recent years. As per the data with the police, the majority of these are either made by people with mental health conditions, those wanting to frame someone else, or people who are under the influence of alcohol. 'In some cases, people also do it to see if they can get away with it by using proxy IDs which makes it difficult to trace them,' the officer said.
