In a tale that has left chefs and thrifters alike envious, one man revealed how he stumbled on a $20,000 Thermador range oven for just $1,000 at a local thrift store.
The luxury appliance, complete with dual ovens, six burners, a griddle and stainless steel finish stunned the the shopper, who shared the discovery on Reddit's r/ThriftStoreHauls.
"Found this Thermador at a local thrift store and took a chance on it. According to the workers they picked it up from a house locally in a very wealthy area and the people were upgrading and just donated this," Redditor drunkbagels said in the post.
"This was by far my most expensive thrift store purchases and I am aware its a gamble but it did come with a 30 day warranty; plus even if it has issues it was 95 percent off from its original price of almost $20k and luckily I'm handy so I should be able to fix any potential issues (fingers crossed)."
He decided to take the gamble, bringing the oven home and explaining: "I have always wanted a really high end range for my kitchen however I could never spend or justify spending crazy stupid money on one."

"While $1000 isn't cheap it's certainly better than $20k. Additionally it was extremely clean and appears to have been well taken care of," the poster said.
