'Take drugs, tweet nonsense': Floyd Shivambu fires shots at Duduzile?
Without naming her, former MK Party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu took shots at his political party nemesis, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, whom he has accused of taking drugs. The shock comment was made during a briefing on Thursday, 19 June. In February, Duduzile was forced to apologise over her foul-mouthed X rant directed at Floyd. During the surprise briefing, Floyd Shivambu addressed several topics, including an interest in possibly establishing his own political party. The former MK Party Secretary-General also used the opportunity to making shady comments about being members of the ANC, which he claimed was 'run by scoundrels' and the EFF, which he labelled a 'cult'. Referring to his own party, Floyd Shivambu made a comment many believe was directed at Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of the founder, Jacob Zuma. He said, 'When you raise issues internally, you don't need to gossip about them anywhere. All the issues and concerns I had about MK, I raised internally, even against all odds. When there is an opportunity to raise an issue about wrongdoings. I clearly speak against untouchables who take drugs, tweet at night, and insult us.' He added: 'We confront them and say 'What is this about?'' In February, Duduzile apologised to MK Party members over an expletive-ridden X rant, in which she tagged Floyd Shivambu. In it, she called out Floyd for not being a founding member of the MK Party, which he joined after ditching the EFF. Floyd has since been stripped of his position as MK Party's Secretary General after he bragged about visiting Prophet Shepard Bushiri. Floyd Shivambu is not the only person who has hinted about Duduzile Zuma Sambudla's alleged drug use. The X account @Goolam – known for its controversial political views – claimed that Dudu was known as a 'party animal' and frequented Posting about her bitter 2017 split from husband Lonwabo Sambudla, the account tweeted: 'She lives in a house worth R20 Million. She lives an extremely extravagant lifestyle. The 42-year-old Duduzile is a regular fixture at top nightclubs around Sandton. She is a party animal. 'She allegedly spends hundreds of thousands of rands at these venues ordering bottles of champagne and other alcoholic beverages. Many allegations of her and cocaine, but that's a story for another day'. In 2021, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla was accused of encouraging the July unrest, where properties and stores around the country were looted, vandalised, and torched. During the period, over 70 people are reported to have died in violent confrontations. The daughter of the former president retweeted several videos of the violence, which was a direct reaction to her father's incarceration on contempt-of-court charges shortly before. Image via X: @floydshivambu Duduzile was later charged with contravening the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act (POCDATARA) and incitement to commit violence. She will appear in the Durban High Court again on 14 August. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 . Will Islamic party contest next year's elections?
The IEC confirmed it received objections, but declined to divulge further information. The registration of Islamic State of Africa (ISA) remains a contentious issue and the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has yet to decide on the party's fate after considering various issues necessary for registering it. The IEC received objections to the party's registration, which is pending. Party leader Farhad Hoomer, who was accused of terrorism and identified as leader of a local Islamic State (IS) cell and hit with sanctions by the United States – has applied to register ISA with the intention to contest the 2026 local government elections. Objection received The IEC confirmed it received objections, but declined to divulge further information. However, it is understood that some people were concerned about the party's suspected links to the Islamic State, which is associated with many terrorist activities worldwide. But Hoomer dissociated the party from IS and any of its associated organisations worldwide. He said his party stood for community upliftment, including a plan to provide free education, free health care, free water and housing for all, among other things. ALSO READ: IEC ready to fend off deep fakes Arrested He and others were arrested for the 2018 attack on Imam Hussain Mosque in Verulam, north of Durban, where one person, a mechanic, Shaheed Abbas Essop had his throat slit. At least two others were stabbed but survived. Hoomer, who is a businessman, and his co-accused were cleared of all charges, including contravening the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act. Recently, Hoomer expressed concern that his bank accounts and those of his family members were closed and he was being targeted by police. He claimed he had no criminal record to warrant being harassed by the authorities. IEC deputy chief electoral officer: electoral matters, Masego Sheburi, said the party's application was being assessed in the normal course and objections against the registration had been received. But the commission had not yet made a decision on the matter. IEC to look at objections Previously, IEC chief electoral officer, Sy Mamabolo said the commission was obliged to consider the objections in addition to scrutinising the party's legitimacy, the authenticity of the signatures accompanying its registration applications and other legal requirements. Mamabolo said a party whose constitution was not compliant with the country's constitution should not be registered. He said in the case of ISA, the commission would limit itself to legislative matters. Dear South Africa, a civil society organisation, is also gathering inputs into the Islamic State of Africa in response to the IEC's call for public comments. Former South Africa president Zuma's daughter arrested on terrorism charges
JOHANNESBURG, Jan 30, (AP): A daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma has been arrested and is expected to appear in court on Thursday to face terrorism charges. Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, who is also a member of the South African Parliament, is accused of inciting violence during riots in July 2021 which led to the deaths of more than 350 people. Zuma-Sambudla handed herself over to police on Thursday to face charges under the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act and incitement to commit violence, police said. "The arrest is as a result of a meticulous investigation by the Durban Crimes Against the State unit of the Serious Organized Crime Investigation, following the unrest that brought the country to a standstill in 2021,' police spokesperson Brigadier Thandi Mbambo said. Her political party confirmed that Zuma-Sambudla would appear in court on Thursday. The case against Zuma-Sambudla is based on posts she made on Twitter, now called X, allegedly urging protesters to cause more damage during nationwide unrest that started after her father was sent to jail. Former President Zuma was taken to prison for defying a court order to testify before a corruption inquiry. Following that, angry mobs engaged in widespread looting of shops, arson and destruction of property. More than 5,000 people were arrested. The riots, which lasted more than a week, were some of the worst unrest in South Africa since the end of the apartheid system of white minority rule in 1994. Zuma-Sambudla was accused of encouraging the unrest as a sign of support for her father, although a later investigation into the riots found that they were partly spurred by frustration and poverty during South Africa's harsh lockdowns because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jacob Zuma was president from 2009 to 2018 but was pressured to resign by the African National Congress party he then led over corruption allegations. That set in motion an ongoing political feud between Zuma and the man who replaced him, current President Cyril Ramaphosa. Jacob Zuma was expelled from the ANC last year and now leads a new political party called the MK Party, which became the official opposition following last year's national election.

The party has been urging members to support Zuma-Sambudla when she appears at the Durban Magistrates Court in the eastern province of KwaZulu-Natal, where Jacob Zuma has strong support. South African media reported that police were on high alert in the city. The charges were brought nearly four years after the riots following a long forensic investigation, although Zuma-Sambudla has long been accused of instigating some of the trouble through her social media posts. 'She has conditioned herself, because there have been many threats about her imminent arrest for the past three or four years, MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said. "She is awaiting and she will abide by the law as a law-abiding citizen.'
