The mortal remains of a migrant worker from Jharkhand were brought back to his native village on Thursday, 45 days after his death, an official said. Initially, the deceased's family refused to accept the mortal remains without receiving the final payment, which delayed the process.(Representative Image/Shutterstock) Rameshwar Mahto, a resident of Bandkharo village in Vishnugarh block of Hazaribag district, had been working in Kuwait for the past 12 years. He died of a cardiac arrest, according to the official. "There were several issues which delayed the process of bringing his body back to Jharkhand," an official of the state migrant cell said. "Mahto's wife Pramila Devi requested the state migrant cell to bring his body back home on June 19. Then, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait and Protector of Emigrants in Ranchi were informed," according to an official release. Initially, the family refused to accept the mortal remains without receiving the final payment, which delayed the process, it stated. "After continuous dialogue, the deputy commissioner of Hazaribag obtained the family's consent, and a formal request was sent to the Indian Embassy in Kuwait on July 27. The company, then, initiated process on July 28 and the body arrived at Birsa Munda Airport around 3.45 on Thursday," the release stated.

The Mangaluru city police have booked three persons, who were recently arrested for cheating more than 300 job aspirants of over ₹4 crore by promising visas for overseas job, under Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA) The police gave names of the three persons as Dishad Abdul Sattar Khan, Sahukari Kishore Kumar alias Anil Patel and Masiullah Khan, all from Mumbai. They were arrested following a complaint by a victim accusing Hireglow Elegant Overseas Private Limited in Bendoorwell, Mangaluru, of taking money and not giving him visa for an overseas job. This case was registered in Mangaluru East police station. A few days later, Protector of Emigrants (PoE), Ministry of External Affairs, Bengaluru, Avaneesh Shukla, filed a compliant against the firm accusing it of conducting interviews without registering the firm with the Ministry of External Affairs. This case was registered in the Barke Police station of Mangaluru. Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said chargesheet has been filed against Dishad Abdul Sattar Khan in two VISA fraud cases registered in Mangaluru North Police Station in 2017, and in Koparkkhairane Police Station of Navi Mumbai in 2018. As a result, Dilshad was considered as being involved in an organised crime, while Sahukari and Masiullah were considered as members of that organised crime. Searches were conducted by a team of Mangaluru police, on the premises of the three persons, in Mumbai. Following approval Director General and Inspector General of Police, letter was written to the jurisdictional court to invoke KCOCA against the three persons arrested in the case pertaining to the Mangaluru East police. Process will be initiated for transfer of the case from the Mangaluru court to the Special KCOCA court in Mysuru. Under KCOCA, police have special powers, including gets extended time to inquire the accused persons. The accused have less chances of getting bail, Mr. Reddy said while cautioning of similar action on persons involved in two and more criminal cases.

Madurai: The Protector of Emigrants (POE), Chennai, under the ministry of external affairs, Govt of India, in coordination with Madurai police, conducted raids on multiple premises of illegal recruiting agents operating in Melur in the district on Thursday. The action was initiated based on credible information regarding the presence of several unauthorized agents in the area. Melur is notorious for having the highest concentrations of illegal recruiting agents in the state. POE for the regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Rajkumar M, urged all those seeking employment abroad to exercise utmost caution. In a statement, he emphasized the importance of securing overseas employment only through authorized by the ministry of external affairs (MEA) and only on valid work visas. He advised all aspiring overseas job seekers to verify the credentials of recruitment agencies before making any financial commitments. A list of licensed recruitment agents is available at Rajkumar also issued a stern warning to individuals or entities facilitating illegal emigration. "It is a punishable offence under the Emigration Act, 1983, for any agent to send Indian citizens abroad without a valid recruitment licence. Such agents must immediately halt their activities and obtain necessary authorization. Strict action will be taken against all violators. Additional raids are planned in the region in the coming months," he said. Madurai police have assured the Protector of Emigrants that they will continue to conduct regular raids and take strict action against illegal agents operating in the region.
