The minute they hear the keys jingle, they jump up and down in excitement and head for the door. My senior Doxie sits in front with me and my Pug mix gets the back seat to himself. He loves to go back and forth to stick his head out each window and feel the wind running through his fur. They're both well-behaved passengers, content with watching the outdoor scenery go by as we listen to light hits on the radio. Some pups have a penchant for playing games in the car when they're on a road trip. This gray and white Pit Bull got a bit creative when passing the time on a ride with his mom. In the TikTok from @coyote_flowers222, the precious Pittie was in the middle of the back seat taking in the sights. Apparently, the car-loving canine likes to play a little game with his mom's help. "Get ready — car's coming!" she told her pup. The dutiful dog immediately looked out his left window. When he didn't see anything, he stuck his head out the right window and spotted an oncoming truck. As the huge truck past, the Pit Bull tried to grab it with his mouth. The scene was adorable and demonstrated the pup's attention to detail. He's clearly had a lot of practice. Why Do Dogs Love Car Rides? Many canines crave a good car ride, especially with an open window. Dogs have over 300 million receptacles in their noses to pick up scents, compared to a human's 50 million. Riding in the car with their head out the window provides them with a smorgasbord of smells to take in. One 10-minute car ride can present them with aromas from other animals and nature to restaurants and city pup also loves being with you and considers the car an extension of home. Canines are naturally curious and view a good road trip as an adventure with their loved one, so of course they want to be along for the ride. Not all dogs love car rides, but those who do can't wait to get their motor running on the open road. Peach the Pug Mix agrees, which is why instead of waiting for a bath of her own, she hopped right into her mom's—and she's not even close to sorry.
